I think that Rachel's mother was "frustrated" at Rachel's behavior. She got pregnant at a young age, she got sent to prison, she wanted her "mother" to "deliver" a package, etc. Also, alot of "children" in the Prison System are placed with "Granny" instead of "Daddy", etc.
