The cushions are fully staying in place. I've been sleeping on it many times and I never had any problem with them. Furthermore, this piece of furniture is a prototype; on the actual product, the cushions are secured (straps).
Moreover when transformed as a guest bed, the length is the same as a normal bed (approx: 1m90), it was not designed for kids but for adults.
However for the cost, it is almost the same price as an 'IKEA' furniture.
