  • Hi everyone,

Yes you can get a bike mount for the Satmap.

I have tried the iPhone app, but I still like the Satmap. The screen is big and clear and does not lose the signal just when you need it! Satmap now have a number of dedicated maps to use abroad and these are loaded into the card slot on the side of the unit. Check out the Satmap website and click on map catalogue.

  • Thanks very much for a very useful and detailed review, Dawn. I've just ordered one myself so can't wait to try it out.

  • Really good informative video.

  • Hello Dawn. Are there bike mounts available? And can 1:25000 OS maps be used? I have the iPhone MM app with 1:25000 & it's amazing. I bought the MM Adventurer 3500 thinking it would be a quicker more rugged version with better GPS but it really is awful

  • Do you know if they have Canadian TOPO maps?

  • Thanks for all your positive feedback.

  • Hi Dawn, thanks for a great review, one of the best I've seen on YouTube.

  • Very good device.

  • @lovejan143: I used to have a 2008 Satmap model, but back then it was too underdeveloped so I dent it back. I've now got a Garmin 550T. The 550T has the advantage of adding custom mapping.. I use 1:25k maps of the UK, all downloaded free from the various free mapping sites. This cannot be done on the SatMap. However there is quite a tight restriction on the amout of Custom mapping you can out on the 550T. So this could then lead you to Garmins £22 per year BirdsEye sat images.. For me, custom m

what differences do you notice ? which one do you prefer ?

    Marina

  • Kindly can you Help me . Should i go for Garmin oregon 550 or this ?

    Thanks

  • @lovejaan143 We have not tested the Garmin 550 so cannot comment on that model. The Satmap is a great all round GPS with excellent OS mapping and is very easy to use.

  • Great review

  • Good video review.

  • Hi Dawn, thanks for the excellent review, one quick question

Can you log points along your root, like special places of interest so you could find them again if you wanted to go back (particular plants for example)

    Many thanks Steve E

  • @periodman69

Hi Steve. Yes you can easily mark POI's at the press of a button.

  • Thank you!

  • nice review.this active map looks very good.i think ive made my choice now.

  • So how well will this work in the United States? does it have maps for the north american region?

  • can we use it anywhere in the world? for eg. afghan or iraq.

  • The basemap in the Active 10 Plus is excellent. I just dialled up Afghanistan and found Daykundi and tracked across Kuh- e Baba in Helmand, so looks like it would work well out there. Similarly the map detail in Iraq is also very good.
