@GnosticPrince First off Fuck you!....... Second how does what i said have anything to do with not having respect!? Youre a fucking Douche bag....... GET A LIFE
wow dude...this video is amazing, the sound is great, the song is ridiculously amazing, the band is one of the greatest bands to walk the earth. Thank you for posting this vid :D:D:D
They got rid of Starr because of his drug addiction, but they knew they couldn't get rid of Staley, because he was that great. Legendary singers cannot be kicked out and replaced.
@CDogg74 anyone who confuses starr for inez shouldnt even be allowed to listen to anymore AIC. While inez is a great player, he couldn't touch starr with that kind of intensity....
3:29 holy shit layne, i miss you and your music...that was a fucking awesome note he hit and no one can touch this motherfucker EVER ..best vocalist fucking ever
Holly Shit. Imagine all the people showing up to this show after having seen them in Hollywood in 91 and all of a sudden theyre this sinister masterpeice. Man is Dirt ever different than Facelift.
I always wondered how come the band didnt have antother guitar, well laynes voice its the answer i guess...seriously good with overdrive when needed haha
Mike starr had so much more energy than inez ..... staley and starr kinny and cantrell are AIC to hell with inez and will they are good but its just not the same
@blazed24sevn i met the new bassist and hes a really cool guy. its like youre his best friend when he talks to you. still it would be cool to see mike starr back. if hes stayed sober
@devlzreject666 ya mike inez seems like a cool guy... Mike starr does too aslong as he is not withdrawling from heroin or methadone... im addicted to opiated and it is very hard to quit. i wish him the best.
if you see a man gripping the mic wit sunglasses looking kick ass and giving you goosebumps just from words......its not god......but pretty fucking close
Speaking of AiC albums, I think their self titled album is far too overlooked and under appreciated. Just give it a listen, all the way through. You can tell there was a lot of experimenting with that one and everything just sounds fucking righteous. Fav song off that one has to be Head Creeps.
@LongGoneDay1 There's no question that every Alice album is epic. I just never hear about the self-titled one anywhere. And I popped it in one day some time ago and just had to drop everything I was doing to sit and appreciate it.
@AliceinChains8593 you actually have to listen to that album a few times to understand it...i kno i did. it actually has most of my favorite songs by them on it
@kevinAIC33 - yeah, I know Junkhead was on Dirt - I am just biased towards Facelift because it was my first AIC album :) I still have the cassette! LOL.. priceless!
when I first "met" alice in chains and I heard this song I didn't understand why such direct lyrics, if you know what I mean. then I fell in love with this band and then I got it.
@kevinAIC33 - I agree- i don't see ppl making tunes like this either - it's been what, almost 18 yrs since Facelift was released, and I have yet to hear another album that even comes close to Facelift!!
lol look at jerry and mike starrs head from 4:40 to 4:47.
this band was sick but without mike and layne there not as good like there new is singer is ok but not as good as layne and my opinion is that mike starr is one of the best bass players ever and when he was appart of the group the made some of there best stuff.
This is one helluva show. I just wish the sound was louder. The torrent I downloaded this from originally said it was from 10/15/92 and I also saw on a Alice in Chains forum where they said it was actually 10/22/92. So are you sure that this is from 12/15/92?
omg wow this is incredible. what an amazing singer and what amazing presence he had. that voice, wow.. i have goose bumps. this is one of my favs of theirs and he sings it better than on cd. i'm so happy to have seen footage of him before the drugs took total control.
i find it disgusting that alice in chains was like the red headed step child to nirvana and pearl jam. when in reality their music was just as important as nirvanas and i'd say way better than pearl jams. they never measured up in the music industry, but maybe thats a good thing. they were afforded the ability to keep their music how they wanted it maybe more than other bands.
i noticed over the years, his stage presence and voice got a little weaker. i remember seeing one show around '95 that he wasn't moving around as much like he was during this show. i recently watched theunplugged show for the first time in years and just began to notice how the drugs as affected him over the years. it's really sad, but it's just something i've been paying more attention to lately. maybe it's just the whole idea of how drugs can really screw people up. Rest easy Layne! RIP
I actually know what you mean. It's like his stage charisma wated away with his body. Remember him in 89-90? Totally robust hardcore. He faded badly because of the dope. An amazing, genius talent destroyed. I read something about his last year, he would just sit in the back of a bar and stare for hours. Apparently, the bartender claims he watched him die before his eyes. A damn shame...
Layne spent most of his time hiding from the world. Losing teeth, always wasted, always dirty, hiding from friends, family, and bandmates alike. In that VH1 Cantrell interview (the one from 2002, not 1994) they said his dealer was the only person who saw him during the last 2-3 months of his life.
This is as good as anything I've ever heard or seen. Especially love the vocal harmonies. Just as good live as the record. I'm a drug addict too like the rest of you. Thank God I don't have the money that Staley had that enabled him to get high to death. Listen to that groove. Reminds me of Sabbath. R.I.P. Layne
Fuck , this band was so fucking awesome : One of the best singer ever , One of the coolest guitarist ever , a great bassist and and an awesome drummer
This is a good performance and an awesome band, love 'em, BUT, saw 'emj at Lollopalloza in New Orleans about 1994 and layne was so wasted they wouldn't let us take pix (media covering the event). Awful performance, it's a shame that the same source of the beauty of music like this ultimately is deadly.
Wow I can't believe someone would tell jerry he shouldn't use the name..He can do whatever he wants he IS Alice in Chains..you act like he is some dude who wasn't writing half of the songs himself!

coke/speed? fuckin guys... who cares anyways? i dont... he was a known drug addict.. he has been smoking crack and whackin' diesel for years upon years... dont you think someone with just h in their system who has experience with it, such as layne or myself could perform an entire show and you might think he/we are energized? that's because we're that addicted that it gives us energy.. without it, there's nothing... just heroin here, guys, sorry. caine wears off rather quickly.
i highly doubt he could have been using cocaine of any type; hitting those high notes would have made him drop dead of a stroke im sure you wouldnt understand that one though
