whoa!! that looks sooooo intense :O too bad i just found out about this band just a couple of days ago, if I knew them when this happened I definitely would've been there :D
Damn, as overcrowded as it was, that was a great show. I was sore after rocking out for over two hours. Wish they'd come back to NZ soon and bring Feist :D
I like the idea that some one is recognizing BSS over AF but "only one decent Canadian band"? BSS alone consists of a bunch of great bands. Canada has so much to offer.
And I don't dislike Arcade Fire, I just think BSS deserves more credit.
BSS I think are far more creative than AF. The latter are just better at stroking the pseudier critics' beards. I'm afraid that here in the UK these are the only 2 canadian bands we know of!
jesus, it's still being debated? the pony tailed girl is feist, just watch the bsc on conan video if you still have any doubts - it features both emily and leslie, it's pretty hard to mistake one for another (ha!). i don't think emily haines is in this (almost crimes live) video) at all.
It's Leslie Feist, I promise. In january of 2006 Emily was doing her solo tour. And the singer looks like Feist, sounds like Feist, and Feist is the one who sings the recorded version.
emily did her solo tour in october 2006 and january/february of 2007. she was on tour with metric. they played toronto like a month before this one. same venue.
i don't know which show this vid is from, because there was two. i went to the saturday show. it was three hours long, and fucking amazing. beautiful, beautiful live show. so amazing.
I was at this concert and it was feist, Metric was opening up for the rolling stones in New York City. They announced it during the show i'm pretty sure
i'd be willing to wager a very large sum of money that the first female vocalist is leslie feist - the schnoz, the pony-tail and bangs, and she is the vocalist on the recorded version of this tune. were you there, TheV ??
Actually it is Fiest singing first joined by Amy Milan. Fiest is pretty distinct with her looks and sexy body movement. They have way too many sexpots singing for them. I think they should share.
The reason that BSS is great is because there are 12 gifted musicians in a group. This is important because its obvious that they are not making much money since it gets divided. therefore, they are in it for the music... and to promote there sub-bands that come out of BSS. Overall they are repping Canada nicely.
If a kid with a name like "ABoyBrushedRed" (which, to my understanding is an UNDEROATH song) comments negatively on a BSS song, I just kind of let it go...seeing as he/she has no apparent taste in any good music.
feist kicks SOOO much ass

(I know now before I even post this, this will get a lot of negative feedback)
But when it comes to overrated canadian music, Wolf Parade does take the cake... But that's me. /:

The best concert I've ever been to is the one and only time Broken Social Scene came to New Zealand.
Dear god, as good as their studio music is, live they're orgasmic.

Amazing that anyone takes Arcade Dire seriously when there is clearly only one decent Canadian band.
sunbeam11 4 years ago
arcade fire isn't bad at all, they just need to start changing their sound more.
