  • I saw dizzy's picture(the funny one)in Valeriusplein 16.It was a mixture(Sarah vaughan,charlie Parker,Louie Armstrong,Ella Fitzgerald).Amsterdam full of surprises!When they stopped this and I was on the streets(hostels didn't want me)I saw young musicians playing Dizzy in the parks of Ams

  • "Oop bop sh'bam a klook a mop." Kenny Clarke created a combination of a rim shot on the snare followed directly by a bass drum accent, earned Clarke his nickname, "Klook", which was short for "Klook-mop", in imitation of the sound this combination produced.

  • The alto solo is Sonny Stitt, who was very underrated. Very similar to Parker but a contemporary, as the date of this recording indicates, not an imitator.
