Jill Phelps was Executive Producer at AW. Which she destroyed, killing off fan favorite Ryan and Frankie. She had just left GL where she killed off Maureen and let Beverly McKinsey out her contract like an idiot. Then she went on to OLTL and GH where she continues to destroy.
Beverlee had it in her contract that she could leave the show at any time with just a few weeks notice. From what I've heard, JFP*ugh* didn't have much to do with her departure; it was overwork and Beverlee felt she needed a break from acting. Agreed for sure about the multi-soap destruction though. JFP deserved every bit of the acceptance speech cut off at the Daytime Emmys a few years ago!!! What do they say about karma?? Thank you!
"I have watched you, I have wanted to be like you"....what a great acceptance line by the classy Linda Dano. So nice that she mentioned Brett Collins, Doug Watson, and Constance Ford (all deceased at that time). Boy do I miss them characters and that great show.
I have always adored Charles Keating...my favorite daytime actor and soap villian. Victoria Wyndham(RACHEL) once said she lost a great friend and acting partner Douglas Watson(Mac Cory)when he died but was blessed to find it second time around with Charles Keating(CARL HUTCHINS)!
I adore Charles Keating and remember the night he won vividly. I taped it but can't find it anywhere. When he said "Thank you my hearts" it brought tears to my eyes. His speech was elogquent, funny and gracious. I think he was the best actor daytime ever had, sort of the Spencer Tracy of daytime tv! And to see Linda Dano and her husband. She has changed so much since he died, it was nice to remember how in love they were. This was great!
BRAVO...the caliber of acting on Another World was always first rate. Better than any other show of that time. There should have been more Emmys won...Vicky Wyndham, Beverlee McKinsey, Steven Schnechter, Nancy Frangione (to name a few). These people and the characters they played are unforgettable. So happy for Charles Keating, he was mesmerizing in those winning scenes.
I love Linda Dano and was beyond thrilled that she won because she really deserved it. Linda Dano is such a fabulous woman how could daytime television not adore her? And of course, her dear sweet wonderful Frank. What a guy.
AW deserved every award it got! I'd love to see more Carl Hutchins clips, if you've got them. He was so good at being SO bad and then eventually being SO good with Rachel.

one thing thatset the AW cast apart from their peers is that they really loved each other. Look at Judi Evans' face! Such love! ahhh :)
