In the name of the wee-man. I used to live in Springburn thirty odd years ago, and the Albert School was the one that I used to go today. What a fantastic video, so many memories have come flooding back
brilliant video , ive lived in springburn the past 25 years , angus St , place is way better that a lot of people say it is , forget the buildings its the folk that make this place so good
Great video, I used to run around Springburn as a teen, I lived in Auchinairn back in the 1950's. My uncle James Sharkey had a Optician's shop there in Springburn. Thanks for the memories. It seems like a 100 years ago since I was running loose around that area as a teenager. Moved back to London, joined the Marines.Married and now living near Nashville. Tennessee. I will always have a lot of fond memories for that area, and Garscube road where my Grandfather lived.
I live here, i stay here, i grew up here, i`m still here, and what do i see? I know the north glasgow history, so u tell me. Unsure? then explore the north glasgow collisions and unite one for us and us for all, INDEPENDANTLY!!! P.S. know ur history as i only learned through the streets, or ASK. watch this vid
i stayed 14 up in the balgrayhill rd flats...dont miss the place...14 years ago we moved out but now im back at springburn college and its no changed...my dad, mick, worked in the caley as a turner, he stayed in erm memol st or however ye spell it lol got pulled down years ago anyway...great vid
Albert Primary :) I went there 1974-79. Now all shops are gone, demolished, where the statue is now. I used to buy my crisps there, 4 1/2p or 5p each. Cameron's I think the shop was called and a there was a Woolworths. They sold toys in Cameron's, a plastic boat for 50p. I went to my Ganny's up on Balgrayhill high flats after school and Grandad would drive me down in his taxi and my mum met me there after work, she worked in Teachers whiskey for 15 years! That's gone as well. Boo HOo HOoo....
I watched your film and was a bit disappointed as my grandfathers house at 251 Springburn Road was not shown. This building is still standing and sits on what remains of Springburn High road. At the end of this road used to sit the Kinema where my grandfather used to play the piano for the silent movies. He worked in the Calley engine works through the day and was a piano teacher at night.
That is my uncles garage at 2.20 on the video. Not lived in Springburn for years and I must admit that I do not miss the place but still nice to get a wee bit of nostalga. Good video m8.
Wow, I moved abroad from Springburn and watching this put a little tear in my eye most of all when you showed the Balgary Hill Flats at the end where i stayed in 178.........
