  • why is this video so sad? ='( but nice vid!

  • I have to say this video took me to early 19th century for a moment.

  • @panto880 me too! hahaha

  • cheers, dear! that was a excellent gift for me..

"boyish love" :( maybe for u but never for me :)

  • To say firstly, this is an utterly fantastic video. Secondly, I followed up the picture of Tom Lefroy on wikipedia, and he was rather unattractive. For that must have been done in his later years. But oh my gosh! have you seen a picture of him at google images? He may not be in the likeness if the extremely attractive James McAvoy, but in his younger years, about the time Austen knew him, he was very handsome. Very handsome.

  • Mr. Lefroy, would you marry me?

  • Do you mean the real Mr. Lefroy or James?

For me the real Mr. Lefroy is less attractive than the character played by James McAvoy.

If you are interested to see a picture of the real Mr. Lefroy have a look at the Wikipedia website.

  • of course i mean Mr James Mcavoy

  • I can say that Tom Lefroy´s daughter name´s Jane Christmas Austen, but time when Tom met Jane was at Christmas. Jane Christmas Austen was born in July or June. Of course she named from Jane Paul but second name is special. Tom said that Jane´s was her boyish love, but I think he´s really loves her. I´m sorry for my english.

  • I also think that he really loved her. But unfortunatly not everybody can follow his/her heart some have to think about money and supporting their family, as Tom had to do.

A similar story is the one of John Keats and Fanny Brawne. Their lovestory is currently shown in cinema. The film is called "Bright Star". I recommend that. I liked it, although it is not as good as Becoming Jane.

  • I was in the movie as an extra. Some pointless information, and an incredibly boring job...

  • Have you been one of the dancers?

  • @vardsmith haha, i almost forgot that becoming jane was probably made around 2005. instead of jane's period itself. and i was 'this person is still alive?!' ahhaha sorry lol what was your role btw

  • Thanks for this. You didn't mention that other letters exsted and she destroyed or requested Cassandra to destroy them upon her dying.

  • Thank you very much for your comment. I didn't know that there were more letters. What do you think about Tom Lefroy's daughter beeing named Jane? As I mentiond in my video her full name was "Jane Christmas Lefroy". Isn't Chrismas another hint leading to Jane Austen as she was borne in December?

  • Thank you "Buttonstitch" and "Janinehavanci2"!

Sorry for answering so late but I have been away the last days.

Well, I am a James McAvoy fan and I have great fun to make videos about him! And I do like to read Jane Austens books.

  • good video but the letters go by very fast and they are white...it´s kind of difficult to read them

  • I'm sorry for that. But on one hand I didn't want the video to be longer than six minutes and on the other hand I couldn't shorten the story.

  • May be you can re-edit it and post it in two parts. And give the letters another colour or a dark background. This is just a suggestion :)

  • hi!

    nice one!

    apparently a big atonement fan.

  • Well done, very nice!
