It's a shitty story about giving thumbs down to be defiant played out by awful voice actors. If you want an example of a deep female lead in a vaguely similar role, look at the interaction someone like Clarise Starling has with the people around her. People like Hannibal Lecter.

Sadly as much as I REALLY DON'T want to defend Other M let alone Video Games in general in this sort of manner.

But by the standards of video games Other M's plot & character development (Only Samus) was actually pretty good, nothing close to the best of them but it was a solid A- effort.

Mostly failing to please because of Metroids legacy & the fan-hype built up around it.

But no game I have ever seen or heard of to date can go toe to toe with the best of Hollywood's storytelling.

But as a medium I honestly believe video games are currently the pentacle of all forms of art...

You are forced to interact with them and if done well the experience can be so captivating that you truly start to loose sense of your own world & dive into the imaginative one given to you by the artist's...

other M destroyed samus as a character in everything EXCEPT the Ridley thing (where she froze.)

It was stated before in cannon that Samus suffered from PTSD, and her reaction to ridley was a perfect representation of some of its effects.

And yes, it IS awesome that samus has realistic psychological damage from her experiences as a refugee, bounty hunter, and military career. I can't think of any other character that has realistic PTSD in videogames.

Yes people, the fact that Samus talks isn't bad. In fact, I think it gives her at least some character development, but Destin is referring to the actual bad WRITING...and it is bad. It can be dull, obvious, and unnecessary at times and sometimes performed with the worst monotone ever.
