Best day I ever had so far doing a rescue in the coast guard. The video really doesn't do it justic though. It was very hot that day, I can remember taking off my dry suite and being covered in swet. Funny part is we didn't even know it would be that big a deal. We were just doing our job and lovin it. I guess 6,300 ft. elevation was a big deal for the 65c models. It really was a team effort and I know I'll never forget it.
I like watching videos like this. It's good to know there are people there to actually come to our rescue when needed. One my best friends from grade school became a USCG. He was stationed in Juno for awhile. I really look up to USCG. They really deserve more credit than given.
the primary difference is the engines. the bravo had lycoming engines the charlie has turbomeca engines. the turbomeca engines give a substantial boost in horsepower which gives us the ability to do hoist like this one.
Absolutely amazing! You should and am sure you are very proud of your husband! The crew displays nerves of steel, super precision and very professional, as well as physical strength and calm (not to mention sheer guts). All rescue persons are a rare and special breed - thank you to all of you - true HEROES!
that's my husband going down to get the hiker! the crew did a great job working together to accomplish this rescue. Way to go USCG - another life saved!
That's my cousin's dad!
