In the Morning was written by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees in 1965 and was covered by Esther & Abi Ofarim, Lulu, Andy Gibb and many others. It´s such a beautiful song.

Mir gefällt die Love Generation auch gut - obwohl ihre Songs eigentlich größtenteils kommerziell gemacht wurden (d.h. für eine breite Gruppe an Hörern) konnten sie nie wirklich große Hits verbuchen. Die LP besitze ich auch und ist sehr gut - kommt für mich vor "Here we are"

This version is "of its time". It crudely and cynically represents every gimmick or fashion of its time.

I was 9 when this was out and I knew it was dreadful then, as it is now, but its interesting to watch.

Thankfully we had lots of great songs during that era. I would put Morning Glory by James and Bobby Purify as the finest of that period. Groovy man, whats yours hot pants?

You're right again although in the movie, "Spicks and Specks" is an instrumental with some kids singing along with a la la la type vocal. But, the song is included in the credits with that song and MOML listed as by Barry with all other Bee Gee songs (including TLS) listed as being by Barry, Robin and Maurice. I didn't like the bad edit on MOML, which I thought was the fault of the TV station. But, I have the movie on dvd (from China) and the bad edit is on there as well.

Yaya, this was actually written by the Bee Gees in 1967 for Esther & Abi Ofarim. In 1971, The Bee Gees recorded this song and it have been covered by Lulu also.

Not entirely true. This song is from the Bee Gees's Australian days, written and recorded circa 1966 by the Bee Gees. The 1970 version of the song by the Bee Gees was a re-recording for the movie "Melody." The Australian version remained unreleased until its release in the late 70s. Many of their unreleased tunes were offered to other artists by Stigwood, which is how Esther & Abi Ofarim got the tune.

No, In The Morning was recorded in 1966-67, it was featured in the movie Melody. But it was also covered in the Best of Bee Gees Volume two album. It wasn't released in the late 70's.

Right. I didn't catch my flub as to when "Morning of My Life" was released. I meant to write that it was released on "Best of Bee Gees, Vol. 2" in the early 70s. The original version from Australia 1966 isn't the one that was used in the movie. That version, along with "Every Minute, Every Second" was specifically recorded for the movie. EMES ended up not being used in the movie. I think it was meant for the kids's day at the amusement park scene, replaced by "Give Your Best."

I believe most of the songs covered in Melody with the exception of Morning of my life, To Love Somebody and Spicks and Specks were taken from the Odessa album.

The song was written by the awesome Bee Gees. But I have never before heard of this version.
