  • ok, hi, i have this notebook for over a year (so out of warranty) one key gets stuck and i have to hit an another key to get it out of it!!(got a wireless keybrd/mouse but promblem in on notebok keypad, Everytime i turn it on, the Bios screen comes up and I have to press F2 to continue and it goes into past to a date like 1997 or something like that at 0000hrs. I think recently if it is on charging, turning on the charger turns on the notebook. I use ti to connect to TV(is that a problem) thanks

  • @terryyouth You've got three unrelated issues there, the first problem you need to clean your keyboard, if the key (spring inside) is broken then you'll have to buy a replacement. The bios issue your having sounds like corrupt version, update latest version, if you update and it still happens contact asus. The charger thing is a major problem, if turning ur charger on turns ur laptop on then there's either power surge in charger or faulty motherboard (bios problem could be caused by this..)

  • @ozolayer , thanks for your help, i have changed the CMOS battery and it has sorted out the turning on automatically on charging & the date problem. the only problem remaining is the stuck key thing. it is not like the key is stuck virtually, but on screen it comes as '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' so i press any other key and this loop is broken, not sure if it is keyboard or any circuit as key is not stuck, and this happens mostly on startup.

    thanks for your comments

  • Can I get this in English?

  • thankz man

  • Looks like my 1005P.

  • For everyone having a problem getting the netbook to recognize the new RAM size turn off BOOT BOOSTER in the BIOS before you change any hardware components.

  • it kinder look like my eeepc 1001ha

  • @SillyHin

1001 ha and 1005 ha is 99.9% the same.

  • cool song

  • dieser olli pocher ist der größtre depp den die menschheit hervorgebracht hat

  • Great!!!!

  • So just installed a 2GB stick instead of the 1GB with the 1005HA and it's still showing up as 1GB in the system info... What gives?

  • @jazcash im having the same problem. did you ever fix this? if so, how?

  • @Jimberlin I think it just displayed as 1GB in some places and in others it actually had updated and is now displaying 2GB. I never fixed it in the SystemInfo but other places updated.

  • @Jimberlin It's because of the 'Boot booster'. You just hit F2 repeatedly after turning on to enter BIOS, and then exit without changing anything. Your 2GB should then be recognized as 2gb in windows.

  • some faggot windoze user -1 my post about using a lightweight distro because he got butthurt.

  • i hear using Crucial's 2gb RAM causes the 1005's and 1001's to have shutdown problems. Is this true?

  • running windows defeats the point of the netbook. it boots slowly and runs like hell. use a linux distro thats lightweight.

  • I hear Ubuntu is a good alternative for users who are more accustomed to Windows. Dunno if it's ready to use with the latest generation of netbooks though.

  • Do these netbooks have one or two slots for RAM?

  • @roknfnrol one

  • Changing ram easy changing hard drive A BASTARD

  • ONLY for noobs... (rolling eyes)

  • posible change video card?

  • What speed does the ram need to be?

  • Very nice; thank you.

How do you allot more memory to the graphics card of this netbook?

  • How do I shot web?

  • How do you mean?

  • Actually, as I found out after much research and especially thanks to a specialist friend, you can't. It's something they call dynamic memory allotment: the system will use as much of the RAM as video memory as required by specific circumstances/usage needs.

What can, and should, be done is install a codec pack (such as XP Codec Pack). This will finally make your videos play smoothly.

  • Can you upgrade to 4gb???or not allowing?

  • up to 2Gb max

  • No. Max ram upgrade is 2gb of DDR2.

  • 4GB single stick for a netbook is not aorund yet? lol well dunno.. but 4G in a netbok is overkill but yes... i see yourpoint would love 4GB in my netbook lol

  • The maximum of 2 GB of DDR2 at 800 MHz is enough for the machine to run decently on Win XP and even 7 (the "Starter" version). Of course, anyone would like their netbook to do as much as any good notebook out there, so for that 4 GB would be very nice indeed (in that line, a dual-core processor would also be swell!).

  • @oYoYebutu Well, when pinetrail comes out you'll get your dual core. dunno about the ram tho.

  • does more ram make a big difference with speed?

  • oh yea. not processor speed but can have more stuff open and grpahics will ru nfaster.

  • mine, i let the store upgrade before shipping it to me.

  • vraiment super ce vidéo !

    merci beaucoup.

est-ce que cela vaut vraiment la peine de faire cette installation ?? Quel sont les bénéfices ?? Il est possible de rouler plus d'applications ???

  • Did you order the RAM or did you buy it at a store? If so where did you order/buy it from, i'm looking to upgrade mine too.

  • newdotcom make sure it is 2gb ddre so-dimm pc2 5300

    and its 200pin

  • nice video thx!

  • that won't fuck wif warrenty eh ?

  • of course not,

    1. they put a screw sealed hatch on with warrenty seal on

    2. the official asus manuals state the spec as "1GB RAM (Upgradeable to 2GB)"

swapping HDD's in this model voids warrenty iirc, unlike the 1000HA which gave you access to the HDD and RAM

  • Thanks I went into bios ( f2 ) and checked it was recognized and went into xp and its good now..

  • I did this upgrade also and the computer works but it still says it has 1gig of ram when in reality it has two. Does this make a difference in performance?

  • you need to go to your bios screen and reconfigure in order for your computer to recognize the new ram.

  • how do you do that?

  • nvm I figured out that I had to disable boot booster first

  • Is that the only thing you have to do? I thought you should open up the biossysten, and make some modifications? Help!?

  • Excellent video! It helped me install my RAM perfectly in my 1005ha-v.

As another person stated in the comments, be sure to stick the ram in firmly and you will hear a click.

  • Thank you ... Merci!

Very helpful!! it took me 3 minutes to upgrade the RAM.

Caution - be sure to seat the new RAM module tightly. The first time I put the memory in, it must not have had a good connection and the machine would not boot.

  • Is it possible to put more than 2 gigs in it?

  • no, netbooks can't read over 2gb

  • No, not at this moment. There is only 1 slot for RAM, and I'ts maximum 2 GB stick you find at the store. :)

  • why do you want more than 2 gigs in it? are you some kind of racist??

  • thanks for sharing

  • Production quality over the top. Merci Beaucoup.

  • great, thanks

  • Merci pour ce Tuto, quelle ram ajoutez vous ?

    PC2-6400 (800Mhz) ou PC2-5300 (667Mhz) ?

Le format est bien So-Dimm 200 pins ?

    Merci !

  • thx

  • Thanks a ton for the video! I wasn't sure if there were one or two dimm slots on the new 1005-HA! What brand did you use in your upgrade? Thanks!!!

  • thx 4 this one :)
