Hmmm...I was born in Germany and lived there for many years - Europeans are living in their OWN bubble..This is NOT the 1970s. Road racing is VERY big here in the USA and there are GREAT driving roads. Most of Ferrari and Porsche sales are to the USA. The fastest priduction car arounf the N'ring is the Viper "American Club Racer" and the Corvette ZR1 is at #5 just below a Ferrari Enzo....I own an '07 GT3 and before that an '04, but fact is fact......Sorry!
At least our bubble isn't owned 60% by the Chinese. In every country there are great driving roads. But road racing there is all about drag racing, which is seriously boring. Hill climbing is what we have here and we've got some really cheap cars that can pull down the panties of your big & bulky V8s. And the fasted lap by a production car is owned by the Radical SR8. 6 minutes something. Hopefully you know how to drive properly the masterpiece you own.
F**ck of!! You don't know sh*t! It is all about power to weight ratio. GT3 weighs 700 lbs less than the Turbo. GT3 is a true Le Mans racing car and it actually lapped faster than the Porsche Turbo around Nurburgring by 0.5 secs when both were driven by Walter Rohrl. It is not as quick as GT2, but it is because GT2 is a newer and a lot more expensive car. The new 2009 GT3 will have engine updates with a 3.8 Liter 450 HP engine and it will weigh only 3100 lbs.

LoL, aslong as you don´t live in germany, you wont have the chance to drive that fast without loosin your licence. Cause we have no speed limit on the Autobahn. And 97% of all accidents, happen at speeds below 75mph. And there are by far more people driving 100mph+, than 3%. Sadly, the EU wants to force us to implement a speed limit for european standard. But they try that for about 10 years now, without any results^^
I recently purchased a GT3, but before my choice I hired out a Z06, GT3 and an R8. I found that the GT3 turned out the best overall (road, track and practility). The R8 came close, stunning looks but just not that thrill of driving you get with the Porsche. The Z06 was quite good in its own way, very fast and pretty grippy around corners, but just wasn't as enjoyable on the road. Also, at higher speeds getting nearer 250 - 300kph, the Porsche is quicker, and feels more solid.
The Porsche GT3 is a fantastic car. And you would never believe it - its made of steel, which adds to reliability and robustness. The GT3 also holds the record of the first car to run around Nurburgring in under 8 minutes.
6 seconds could easily be different drivers. Even if you had the same guy drive each car, a rwd/rear engine setup is harder to drive than the FR layout of the vette. You can't one is "better" than the other. I bet I could find a GT3 time that beats 7:42 on Nurburgring but it wouldn't mean that the car is better. If anything it shows that the cars are similar.
GT3 is the best handling car in the world today. GT3 is far faster than a Z06 around the Nurburgring race track (fastest and toughest track in the world) where it runs a 7:37 (4th fastest car in the world). Z06 is not even in the same ballpark when it comes to around track performance.
Dude, the fastest lap time for a GT3 is 7:39 (161.575 km/h -- Porsche 997 GT3, 415 PS/1395 kg) and for the ZO6, 7:42.9 (160.207 km/h -- Corvette Z06, 500 PS/1319 kg, Jan Magnusen). No need to get so angry that one car has got a better time than your favourite car! They both have strengths in their own ways...

I dont care much about topspeed...i would care about how it accelerates at high speeds.
A discipline were the GT3 is not that great because of the lack of torque, compared to ex. the 911 Turbo or GT2.
