It actually exists some video recordings from that event, and maybe this gives a clue where the tape was lost. In the promo video for the Swedish winner (Malta/Nova) this year you can see clips from Melodifestivalen 1973. So when they made this promo video they obviously had the tape from the event. I wouldn't be surprised if Clabbe (singer in Malta) actually still had the tape by himself :)
@vintagerosenz There MUST be a video somewhere... I don't understand how the audio could have survived when the actual footage has, as you say, been 'lost'. I hope they unearth a video at some point. :-)

@vintagerosenz from what I heard Swedish TV lost it. But hopefully someone out there taped it though few had video recorders in 1973.
