@shauno5166 Of Montreal aren't from Canada, actually. They're from Athens, Georgia. The name comes from the lead singer's relationship with a girl from Montreal.
This is great plus the beatles would'nt have written anything like this because they would've been too busy touring to play their classic albums worldwide nowadays.that's how I see it happening if all the members would've been alive in recent years and still together as The Beatles. The Beatles are good ...but this appeals to me a bit more...plus the beatles could'nt have written HFAYTD because there's modern sensibilities in it that a seasoned Lennon and Mccartney wouldn't throw into an album.
Hey guys, I just finished up a Bass cover of Of Montreal's "For our elegant caste" I'd really appreciate it if anyone would mind watching and possibly leaving insight. I really appreciate it in advance as i worked pretty hard on this one...
Huh no who said I like them? But how can u fuckin hate them? Without the beatles...there would be no good music today like Of Montreal...there wouldn't be any Rolling Stones without The Beatles...you obviously do not know shit about music if u can say u hate the beatles....
@GacsiWrestler11 We all have are own opinions I guess. I mean, I hate rap, most hip hop, and pop music but most of popular culture disagrees with me *shrugs*.
@GacsiWrestler11@GacsiWrestler11 My god you are ignorant. The Beatles are amazing, yes, and yes they may have been the first band to really branch out, but are you seriously saying that if the Beatles didn't do it, then nobody would have? Get off your mother superior high horse just because someone may not like something that you do.
@GacsiWrestler11 Thats the biggest load of Bullshit i've ever heard and ive listened to "Yellow Submarine". Besides i listen to music im not claiming im some sort of music expert I listen to what i like not what some cunt deems important that everyone must like it to truly appreciate music. So stop trying to push your beliefs on other people you impolite scut .
That's where you are wrong...YouTube Beatles vs. Rolling stones I Wanna Be Your Man...stones needed a hit song to get on the charts...Beatles wrote I wanna be your man...therefor there would be no stones without Beatles....to the rest of you...fuck you!! I'm better than u In every way
@totallynotjonathan Don't worry, I do too. Sometimes when music is overplayed, you get burned out. They may have done wonders for the music, but it can get stale. And they're not that unique compared to what's being produced today. Anyone who disagrees is just being close minded and biased. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
@SpennyPwns pretty much but i never liked the beatles to begin with and then every beatles fan has to say something like im ignorant or something along those lines when they themselves fail to realize that the beatles dont stand out musically anyways. Shit i dont even get mad when people say the music i listen to sucks i just dont care because i like it and thats all that matters.
@totallynotjonathan Neither did I. But people will always argue over who has better "x". I got pissed when my girlfriend said of Montreal sounded like the Beatles.
Some of the lyrics in this song is how I feel in the winter. Living up north, it really sucks not seeing the sun for an entire season. And when you do see the sun, it's actually a fake light thing. It's not the sun. It's not warm. The light from the sky is so dull and lifeless. Makes me long for summer.
Last year, after returning from Comic-Con, my parents took me to a Grace Jones concert, but of Montreal was part of the opening show. I orgasm'd unexpectedly hearing this live.
@zafir24 I beg to differ...smart people actually listen to the lyrics and decipher the meaning...artists write lyrics for a reason...to convey a message...but obviously all you care about is his voice...look at Bob Dylan (not the greatest voice)...but that doesn't matter because his lyrics were genius
@yummyinmytummy09 who are you to say that only smart people listen to the lyrics or that smart people only listen to the lyrics. i know plenty of musically gifted and intelligent people who can hear chord progressions and listen to the music of a song instead of the lyrics. you sound like an incredibly ignorant person
@burlong01 I was just saying that lyrics are a integral part of songs and can carry messages that the song without them wouldn't be able to convey...The artist can change the emotion just by using different words...I'm a fan of post rock which has no lyrics at all so don't lecture me about this...I'm just saying that IF the song has lyrics you can get a better message of what the artist was trying to say through them...
There last 2 albums are out of this world good. I have there early stuff and it is not even close to as good as there new stuff! I love them so much though very original.
I will agree it is TOTALLY different than the early albums, its less folky and more electronic, I like it like this actually but meh some dont, its more dancy and parrty music now I suppose, even thought Hissing Fauna Are You The Destroyer is supposed to be a depressing album, you cant argue with the mad ass songs

Of Montreal always sounded, to me, like what the Beatles with David Bowie making a record with guest appearances by the Beegees and P Funk.
This albums is damn near perfect though.

no one cares about the lyrics because it's music and not rap so the lyrics don't matter as long as the artist doesn't have a crappy voice.
