  • Take a look at my video response. I listen o Brian Eno's ambient stuff more than this style, though this is nice. SEARCH FOR watch?v=1mic8sUDmjk IN THE YOUTUBE SEARCH BAR.

  • Genius

  • Gawd, another muso poncing on about "them"

  • mind you.he has a point..but what about tax payers..and fuck climate change

  • Shut up and make some music.

  • @XanderX84 wish you'd shut up instead to be honest.

  • He is rich, successful, talented and hard working - in the standards of today's dog eat dog world, he is more important than those who don't understand he is just speaking his mind and you don't need to take it so personally.

  • Bayou :

Surely not another disgruntled American, and "part time wastrel", parking the excreta on Uncle Sam????

    Surely not?

  • bapyou :

He is very careful to get rich and unequal first, then he talks like that.

    How convenient!

  • Well, you may sau that it's convenient, but there are many acitivists who are not wealthy who also speak on the same issues. Being wealthy certainly is not a prerequisite for doing so. I am not wealthy, but I agree emphatically with what Eno said here. Do you?

Or are you one of the wealthy who never feel as though they have ENOUGH wealth?

  • He does put his money and other resources where his mouth is.

The problem is that resources are too often the thing that gets vocal people and their opinions and ideas to the table.

  • INfuckin"DEED ...AND...the way they

spoiled the bloody BBC,wich is unwatcheble these days. It has been taken over by gays & cooks.

    These days bbc stands for

    Bozo Buttfucker Cooks.

  • Oh yes - spot on!

  • Did he say those things when he was poor? When they get rich they tend to say them.

  • Well Troya, actually, Brian Eno comes from a fairly well-to-do background. It's doubtful he was ever "poor." But how does this disqualify him from speakiing about gross inequities of income distribution? Franklin Roosevelt came from a wealthy family, but he did more for the average American than any President before him or since. And note that, those from Roosevelt's class detested his policies. In four elections Roosevelt never won the vote in Duchess, the wealthy county from which he hails.

  • "Art, simply, for the sake of art...should not exist. Art should, ONLY, exist to propagate the propaganda of the state." - Mao Tse Tung, Communist dictator and mass murderer

    * This IS how all of these political activism...got started.

  • Yeah, and Richard Nixon was also a mass murderer. Ask the people of Vietnam and Bangladesh ... or those affected by the insane Pol Pot, brought to power in the vacuum left when Nixon decided to mercilessly bomb the Cambodian countryside.

But of course, those are the capitalists who murder. Their murder doesn't count, because it was done in the name of "bringing democracy to the world," right dimwit American?

Go cut & paste some more shit from your favorite whacko right website, dimwit.

  • Furthermore, right wing whacko, let's not forget that guy named Adolph. Facism/Nazism was an ideology that closely allied the state to big business.

Yeah yeah ... we know ... Hitler's party was called "Socialist."

What YOU don't know is calling it that was a ruse to get working class Germans on the Nazi's side. After coming to power Hitler (1) banned unions in Germany and (2) banned the German communist party. Some leftist. As a right winger, Hitler puts you guys to shame. Adios!

  • At 1.24, the wealth gap????

    He's rolling in it.

    What a hypocrite.

  • Well, he wasnt to start off with, and he it using his wealth to highlight poverty and world problems instead of pretending everything is ok

  • baibip?

  • About Eno's wealth. Producing U2 albums for more than 20 years with points would tend to make someone rich. He's not just working with "friends" there. So regardless of the other fantastic things Eno has done, he's earned a great deal of money helping U2 remain relevant.

  • I've known about and hence respected Brian Eno since his days with Roxy Music in the early 70's. The man can literally play every musical instrument you put in front of him on a genius level. He has brought joy to millions with said genius, and therefore should be afforded the benefit of the doubt, that he is not acting in behalf of HIMSELF, like some CORPORATION lobbying the government. To say, "What a capitalist pig he is, to have people working for him", is totally off-base/ridiculous.

  • Text war on an anti war post... humans are hopeless.

  • "The wealth gap" he says.

Well, ain't that something, coming from a very rich man like Eno?

    Yea, the wealth gap.

  • I don't kmow how Eno has made his money (and I don't know if he's that rich) but I think it's through his own efforts in music. Rather than say, through the efforts of thousands of employees, or producers or suppliers. In your job, are you making yourself rich, by your own work? Or are you making someone else rich, whilst you just get a moderate wage for your efforts?

  • Artists should use their influence to make people think and act. They actually lose fans and sponsors by speaking out. This is actually brave on Eno's part.

  • I'm Sorry Brian....I respect you...but I think you'd be better off just shutting up and doing what you do best...music...when are musicians going to get the picture that if they just shut up and do music..they will probably have more fans and make more money, instead of appealing to certain political orientations...I'm a musician..and I keep quiet about political things.

  • I'm sorry, thorium64, but you just made a political statement yourself. Shouldn't you follow your own advice and shut up?

  • HOW in the F*CK is my comment political ???

back your stupid accusations with some explanation...so...WHAT did I say that was political ???

  • You said musicians should not have anything to say about politics - that is a political opinion - if musicians followed your advice - Billie Holiday wouldn't have sung "Strange Fruit", Jerry Dammers wouldn't have written "Free Nelson Mandela" the list is endless. So take your own advice.

  • ummmm I NEVER said that musicians should not have anything to say abouit politics..I was just voicing my opinion that musicians need to realize that voicing political opinions could push fans away..they need to understand that not ALL of their fans share the same political views..but as usual, musicians are so wrapped up in what they think that they fail to realize this...I thought I was clear in what I said...but I guess some people are TOO wrapped up in politics to understand that much.

  • its an argument for cowardice on the part of artists, who would respect an artist who kept quiet simply to make more money? So what if all their fans don't share their views - either they like the music or they don't.

  • so basically you feel an artist shouln't give an ounce of dog squeeze if they offend some of their fans ?? typical elitist attitude !!

  • If you support the war you're "offended" by his opinions. Tough shit, there can be no justification for keeping quiet about war and injustice who ever you are, there's nothing elitist about it, I've never heard of you so keeping quiet has obviously worked wonders for your career. It's a pathetic spineless attitude

  • o.k..my original comment had nothing to do with the war, or any of the current events.you obviously are agaisnt the war and o.k. I get it. you have distorted my original comment to the point that you feel I am for the war...fine I get it, you ASSume too much..which is typical from most people I meet today..and YOU KNOW NOTHING BAOUT MY CAREER...I just YESTERDAY signed a contract

fealing with MY music..again..you ASSume too much..so bugger off bed wetter !!!

  • You can't see the glaring contradiction in your original comment, saying musicians should not speak about politics is in itself a political statement. Apparently you have no right to express your opinions lest you offend your fans, maybe you are not bothered about offending the ones that prefer artists to speak out. "bugger off bed wetter !!!" ? what a waste of time you are.

  • brian eno shut up? when has brian ever been quiet? :) he's always been outspoken and opinionated - thankfully.

  • outspoken and opinionated? true enough roxysimmons, but always in a quiet ambient way - but never 'silent.'

  • his music may be ambient, but i don't think you could say that brian is quiet - especially when he is passionate about something.

  • the enemy is still doing its best to destroy our way of life because we the sheep were led to take up arms against the wrong nations. The enemy of the common man is the extremist.

  • The extreme enemy of the common is man.

  • The middle east has been in turmoil since at least the 60s, so far as I know, and it seems to just get worse and worse, such a terrible mess, but Enos words still ring true - that government should be held accountable.

    peace

  • Brian Eno is a genius in every sense. There are people in rock and roll who call themselves geniuses and get laughed at. But Eno can call himself a genius and be taken seriously because he's so inventive, so creative and he's a real eccentric. How about putting HIM in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?

  • About 1.20 in...was there a riot or something?

  • Brian Eno is one of my most revered musical heroes, one of our greatest living musicians.

It's wonderful to see him apply that phenomenal brain to politics. And he is right. Thank you for this.

  • I've been in the driver's cabin on the Ipswich to Felixstowe too ! Brian , read about The Mangraisat Legature to Siam , you'll more than ' click ' about real Arians , Persians , USA intentions , 3,500 innocent men , women , and children dead in the States , shortly after an equal number dead in Thailand .Countess of Albermarle , The Old Hall...........i had your canvas case in safe keeping .

  • Tell 'em, Brian!

    Thanks.

  • simple. brilliant. Eno.

  • I love to hear and read what Eno has to say...its always so direct abd oblique....

  • Of course - Osama Bin Laden and the 7/7 bombers are all in the pay of the government....Go back to sleep, you child.

  • meursault48: Guitarrero3 may be a child. You, on the other hand, are a fool.

  • Guitarrero3 Did you even pay attention in school? Terrorists have been around since the ancient times. I don't know where you get your logic from but terrorist groups have always been around. In fact we get the name terrorist from specific group of people in ancient times that used terror. Terrorists are very real, and they are very committed what they do, for them its how they interpret the Muslims, Islamics religious text.

  • speak the truth

  • Damnit hold that camera steady...

  • brian eno music at seeqpod dot com it's a great search engine for brian eno and other favorites...

  • Well said. The terrorists probably don't dig Another Green World anyway.

  • It takes many voices speaking out to make a difference. Here's one more. I agree.

  • political genius as well as musical

  • bullocks!

  • Give 'em hell, Brian! Thanks for posting this.
