If you upgrade your pc or laptop to a newer OS many functions will be lost including the built in webcam, volume dial control, microphone, etc.

The reason is simple. Asus does not make drivers for new Operating systems. Even if you have the latest OS, in a year or two when you will need to upgrade to a newer OS, you will not be able to.

I had a Vista Asus laptop, i upgraded to Windows 7 and my laptop is unusable now as far as i am concerned.

And let's be honest. Macbooks are way beyond better in design than any plastic PC on the market. The build quality is miles ahead. And apple fanboys, Macs are not as fantastic as you think. Mac OS X is still very flawed, even though as a system, it's smooth and secure. I still have gripes about about mac os x.

@Jayomat the x220 is a 12.6 inch, you can get it with a 120gb ssd for under 1000, its close enough in size and has a faster processor on than an air has maxed out. Not to mention its a lot more durable, lenovo has much better support (this point is not debatable). You can also get the lenovo with alot more options like mobile broadband up to a 2.7 ghz core i7, air maxes out at 1.8. You also get a much larger port selection and intel ssd's and not cheap bargain bin ssds like apple uses.

Besides, this looks like a Chinese knockoff of a MacBook Air. It's so similar down to ports placement it's scary. The Air still looks better. I would have preferred that they continue with the U36 design and made that more streamlined instead. It would've been a much nicer package.
