  • you will probley go to college and start listening to god speed you black emperor lol pinapple express

  • @bryonbartholomew And the fuckin' Shins!

  • Mind blast. Love it

  • Some deep stuff. The thing is, it almost resembles the country I live in; it's pretty damn close.

  • 240p We Meet Again...

  • this vid makes me want to read about khmer rogue rule

  • Is that Nash Bridges?

  • Look at the YouTube channel SpokenVerse. The samples in this song are either being read by him or somebody with an incredibly similar voice.

  • coachella

  • Looking forward to seeing you in Coachella!

  • I love me some pretentious rock!

  • I'm usually a guy that's always in a good mood but this song is beautifully depressing. About a month ago I was driving and it was raining when this started playing on my ipod. It was extremely surreal and haunting; it almost felt as if the world was really about to end. I was expecting to see a mushroom cloud in the distance, a meteor coming down, or just people going crazy with some virus

  • now this music aint plebeian

  • Cal Chuchesta

  • hell yeah smoke a few bowls and down a few painkillers- this shit just got that much better.

  • The soundtrack to a party leading to the Apocalypse...

  • @glowball01 /mu/tant?

  • The last 2 minutes of this song are mindblowing

  • soundcloud/glden

please for all of you that enjoyed this check out some of my friends stuff, hes a budding artist and its rather similar to this kind of music,

    enjoy!

  • This seems to be the version from the original vinyl. Well done. In my opinion, the vinyl version's better.

  • @AngryRantingNerd can i ask where you obtained the vinyl? i have their other one, but this one been hard to find for me. It sounds much better on vinyl i think.

  • what the fuck is the video of?!?!?!

    great song though.

  • A comment on youtube can't exprime the feelings that i have when listening to this song, the best words i can think of are connection to the music, and self-consciousness,this song gives me the chills.

  • kiss me you are beautiful, these are truly the last days.

  • what if there were cameras during the French Revolution? would it still have happened? can it ever happen again? some might say we can live a better way but they are dead, we must move on

  • this reminds me of Lonesome Road from Fallout New Vegas.....

  • this song is immense through half-decent(m50's) headphones! dat bass

  • Wow! Excellent.

  • The narrator needs a job as a voice-actor.

  • @trollingforsoup AFAIK, this monologue is a part of unreleased film by a member of the band

  • I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful..

These are truly the last days"

You grabbed my hand and we fell into it

Like a daydream or a fever

  • Don't watch if you are manic....seriously

  • A black ops vid took me here and I'm glad it did

  • Love this. Real amazing stuff.

  • Thanks to this band I have developed the hobby of going for long car rides by myself and listening to their albums.

    This is truly fucking art.

  • @cliffburton534 fits perfectly while driving through Detroit

  • !!! Great

  • thanks /mu/

  • Some people say things like, "That song was a waste, I want those five minutes of life back." Well, with this song, I'd gladly give 9 minutes and 24 seconds of life to GY!BE and everyone involved in the making of this masterpiece.

  • derp

  • Song starts at 7:49

  • I played this song at a party and nobody liked it, and then I wasn't allowed to play music anymore. Then I wasn't invited to any more parties after

  • @evsystem I decided to listen to this song because of your post on /mu/

  • @evsystem You are legend.

  • @evsystem Strange.. I played this at a party and everyone loved it.

  • Comment removed

  • @evsystem Well, you know, the people today.

  • @evsystem Your friends obviously don't know how to party!

  • @evsystem If it's a party where everyone's drunk, everyone will hate you. If everyone's stoned, you just found your best friends for life.

  • @SgtPadrino drinking gives meaning to my existence. Weed makes me feel tired.

  • @cusmeister you are one stupid sonofabitch

  • @SgtPadrino

I would rather listen to this than have to listen to a bunch of mindless idiots sing along to " PARTY ROCKIN ! IN THE HOOOOUUUSSSE TOONIIIIGHT ! "

any fucking day of the week .

call me pretencious , i dont give a fuck lol

  • @CanadianChronic2121 you aren't pretentious, trust me.

  • @CanadianChronic2121

So pretentious that you even spelled the word wrong. Bravo.

  • @SgtPadrino Nice answer. And I can testify to that :D

  • @evsystem This.... this is not the kind of music you play at a party. It's amazing, but this is the music you listen to while fried as fsck at 5:45am, not quite party music.

  • @evsystem Totally kill the mood, dude.

  • @evsystem Ahahah i LOVED this comment :D

  • @evsystem

    Let's have a downer party.

Weed, opiates, and lovers of post-rock.

  • @BlissfullAwareness I'm in.

  • @evsystem Fuck them !!!!

If I arrange a party you'll be the first invited

  • Comment removed

  • @CanadianChronic2121

    why are you there friend?

  • @CanadianChronic2121 why the fuck would you try and play this at a party? it's not something a bunch of friends can get together to listen to and have fun and dance to etc. etc..which is the point of a party. to have fun. not be pretentious. You just wanted to show off your deep and 'beautifully depressing' song that no one's heard. Unless you're all stoned or eating mushrooms, use common sense next time. i'm surprised you got invited in the first place.

  • @ianscoff

You have gotta be the most judgemental person I've ever seen lol .

I'm glad you have the ability to play out scenarios in your head like that .

  • @CanadianChronic2121 Most judgemental person? You must be new to the internet.

  • @ProjectThunderclaw

How does that make sense ?

  • @evsystem doesn't matter, had Godspeed You! Black Emperor at a party, worth it

  • @evsystem Good for you!

  • @evsystem Why the fuck would you play this at a party you god damned retard. Obviously people don't want to hear a depressing, miserable monologue such as this at an upbeat, sociable gathering like a party.

  • Am I the only one who thinks this would fit perfectly in some epic zombie movie?

  • @SaintsProphecy yes you are ! ^^

  • @SaintsProphecy No, Danny Boyle agreed with you and put East Hastings in 28 Days Later. Let's not argue about how much of a zombie movie it is.

  • Reminds of a native american speaking about the death of this land and the struggles that overcome

  • Comment removed

  • i know this may sound stupid but what the heck is this about sadness or something

  • haunting

  • That voice is just... wow. It makes my whole body feel loose and weightless.

  • This is awesome :)

  • thumbs up if this reminds you of OWS.

  • amazing.

  • 113 fools are already dead

  • sounds like lee marvin.

  • amazing tune

  • Best part starts at 7:10, what a tune!!

  • reminds me of 'a scanner darkly'

  • this is the best song to use your third eye!!!

  • what messed up books are you reading?

  • What a fantastic song and video for children's birthday parties. I can't wait!

  • I really enjoyed just listening to the intro, first song i heard from this band.

  • @lolismful Oh my god listen to Raise Your Skinny Fists. Listen to that album while you sleep. You will not regret it.

  • @lolismful Tell me what you liked about this intro.

  • 113 people have different opinions on this song, and we should respect that.

  • @theNomadz Did you really think that was funny or worthy of praise?

  • The curs on furr, and there's no druver at the whurrl.

  • Canada you Amazing

  • Those words contain the most depth I have ever heard. Truly beautiful. I love listening to this peice in my home, windows and blinds wide open, during the rain, holding one of my guns. I play games within my head. I pretend the world is on fire.

  • i printed these lyrics off and put them on my university library bulletin board.

  • @LazyMapleSunday You, my good sir, are a gentlemen and a scholar. You deserve a mountain of cookies.

  • @LazyMapleSunday You, my good sir, are a gentlemen and a scholar. You deserve a mountain of cookies.

  • 112 people probably thought to themselves 'Who could possibly enjoy this misery??'.

    3,327 people aren't wrong.

  • This song is so beutiful.. It has such a deep meaning it just makes me wanna cry because this is whats happening to our wourld..

  • 112 people won't even make it to the last days.

  • There is a deep melancholic beauty to this opening track of F♯ A♯ ∞. Truly creative stuff. In fact I'm going slap the CD on and listen to the whole album.

  • deep shit

  • Not the whole song, but hey.

  • Out of all of GYBE, this one ranks the highest.

  • He sounds like Jeff Bridges.

    I love this song.

  • Zzzzzz -_-

  • Omg this goes good with Rainymood

  • I just made a post-rock song. I've got it on my channel. I warn you, I have no guitar talent whatsoever. I just felt like making something.

  • Very well done. Thank you very much. GYBE has been a favourite of mine for quite some time. I love listening to them. :) Your video captured the essence well.

  • I used to sit in my bed and listen to this album every week. Haunting. No other music has taken me away to another place quite like this.

  • it was really like a day dream or fever, may be the feeling within the heaven

but we just could not fell on that

  • I'm talkin about the song not the video

  • I know this seems weird but this reminds me of gears of war :/

  • Comment removed

  • @momsazombie1 I dont really get how you can compare so different genres withe each other. Sure there are some great bands in the post-rock genre, but the music is just too different to compare them with psychedelic or other music genres. In my opinion every genre is unique for its own reasons and should be appreciated for its artistical accomplishments. Besides half of the rock bands wouldnt exist now if it wasnt for psychedelic rock.

  • @keem90 Are you anemic? You seem to have difficulty absorbing irony.

  • @momsazombie1 lol.. sorry man.... my bad... didnt get your comment at first. I have to stop writing comments while stoned...

  • Apocalypse means "revelation". This is a masterpiece that reveals emotions i have never felt before.

  • The video really amplifies the sadness. All those (ugly) abandoned places. This all gives me a strong feeling of "What have we done ?" "What's the point of all this ?" If you know wha i mean.

  • The narrator sounds like a native american chief.

  • if anyone's ever read The Road by Cormac McCarthy...

This song reminds me of that book so much. it's like a perfect accompaniment.

  • @Aydreean indeed :)

  • @Aydreean Have a look at Dirty Three, or some of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis's soundtracks of films, they actually did the score for the film adaptation of The Road. Brilliant.

  • @Aydreean Totally agree dude. Excellent book and a perfect song to go along with it.

  • @Aydreean That's awesome that you mentioned that book, I listened to GYBE the whole time I was reading it and it was crazy how well they matched at parts, kinda throws you into the story.

  • @Aydreean I read that book once. And I will never be able to read it again. Dont get me wrong, the book was amazing and I love McCarthy's work. And I totally agree with your comment.

  • @Aydreean now i feel like i should re read that book with the whole GS!YB discog on in a playlist :P

  • just listen..

  • cute...

  • i loved this.

  • this a song about hope

  • @lilacwine1971 not really..

  • I second the amazing! you guys should give Rems Floating Chandelier a listen:)

  • great video great song!

  • deserts without mirages?

  • Brilliantly made video. Perfect visualization for one of my favorite songs.

  • Amazing..... just simply amazing.

  • the footage of the siagon execution maeks this video and infinate more tiems powerful backed up by a truly mindblowing song with some of the deepest compilations of words ever established.....................................just saying

  • One would only be in the belly of a machine if one is part of it. And since the whole is not greater than the sum of its parts, in this case, "we" are the machine. It's us who are bleeding to death. But even in the valley of death, love is still love.

  • So.... nuclear war i take it?

  • i like the idea that once we and all our human filth are extinct, nature will reclaim and restore the carnage we have left in our wake...hopefully

  • thumbs up if post rock is your favourite music genre

  • u lost a !.. The bands name is "Godspeed you! Black Emperor"

  • The narration is cheesy.

  • @l33tpwnzord you know what else is cheesy? chesse

  • chilling, beautiful. I keep returning to this song over and over, it always has the same effect. Amazing.

  • I love his voice. The lyrics are beautiful. So is the music. I'm very glad I found this.

  • i cant explain how much i like this song

  • The narrator, according to the GYBE! website, "comes from incomplete movie about jail, an unfinished film that efrim wrote and has been working on...." I thought I had read more about who he was, but I can't find it now, alas. Nevertheless, it isn't Lee Marvin or Sam Elliott -- nor is it Grahame Green, although that's who it sounds like to me.

  • Wish I could vote this up a 1,000 times, if it would get more people to watch and listen to it.

  • @ProjectENDO Sounds like a non cowboy version of the narrator from The Big Lebowski.
