Layne's not dead he's just making heaven a better place.
In the meantime, Jerry Cantrell is his self-appointed replacement, and is doing a good job at living up to such a legend, while being respectfull of it all the while.
Jerry wouldn't do this Alice In Chains gig if he didn't feel it was the right thing to do, as shown by the fact he can obiously, and did, have his own band easily.
@civilengsi I think maybe its because it wouldn't sound right live due to the voices. On the album it was all Layne overdubbed on himself...the main vocal being too prominent to be done by Jerry without completely changing the sound of the song, and at the same time, the harmony is a low one featuring Layne's vibrato, also a part that would be very difficult for Jerry to replicate. Just my thoughts.
Metal isn't dead. Zakk Wylde is keeping that shit alive. As for another band sounding like AIC, they are one of a kind. I don't expect any band to sound like them. Most music today is shit, except for them and bls. Im going to see AIC next month, cant wait.
squawkbox is better than peter frampton imho, and thats saying something. aic fukin rulez by far. i listen daily to aic and mad season. metal today is dead. i wish a band would come out that was like this but sadly, i don't think it will ever happen. i just thank my lucky stars i was into music when these guys played. still i regret never seeing them live but what can ya do. the old cliche, if i knew then what i know now lol
They were the best of that time, and still are. Their sound resonates within me. I wish I could have saw Layne when he was alive. They are the essence of what rock and is and should always be.
