If I was there I would have asked Ghamidi Sahib that we can do an experiment and see if a human being crawls out of mud. And then he is calling theory of evolution science fiction. I would also like to see which evidence disproved evolution. Evolution is a fact. Word theory in science is given to those hypotheses which are rigorously tried and tested. We even call theory of gravity a theory and I am sure nobody denies gravity exists.
@auh786 of course, if you say everything happens by chance then who can compete with you :)
btw, evolutionists are the most frequent users of statistics (i know that becoz i am a biologist) but they dont consider statistics when extrapolating evolution back to origin of life.........pathetically insane.........
btw I agree completely with ghamidi when he says that theory of origin of life has been presented as complete tfact and not a theory.
What are you talking about? A statistically infinitesimal possibility becomes a reality, given a large enough number of trials. It's as inevitable as gravity. In fact, it is impossible that a cell molecule capable of replicating itself would NOT evolve over time. By the way, it's pathetic that you call yourself a biologist, yet get your scienctific arguments from a religious nut. Education in Pakistan must have really gone to shit.
@auh786 First: I dont have any problem with evolution of life forms. I see it on a small scale in the lab and on a large scale outside in different races of man. And atleast my religion is not at odds with it. I have a problem though with the origin of life in the first place by evolution and chance events. Of course a live cell will evolve over time.
Second: The issue discussed here is a metaphysical one-there is no reason to limit the discussion to any sphere of knowledge.
@auh786 cntd: Anybody's argument which is acceptable will be considered coz this ques affects are spheres f life. A statistically infinetsimal possibility might become a reality (whatever chances are there but you will agree that it doesnot always become a reality that is why it is 1 in billions :)) and as I said if anybody is adamant that it could have happened anyhow you dont have much to say-do u? Why shud I contradict then something (Quran) which gives an ans and has never been disproved.
@auh786 Last: I have studied in India (am an Indian) and now in Europe. In both places u can find scientists in favor and not in favor of the motion. I have not found one person who dares to completely ridicule my theories-they cant. But of course, on the other hand I cant prove them wrong either :(
Bottom line: if your interested in this question, u have to consider other spheres as wellnot just science. I am sure u have some instance in life when u felt the existence of God but never realized
That's just it, statistics doesn't merely say it might happen, rather, it WILL happen. Even a one-in-a-billion chance will happen.
Evolution doesn't claim to explain the origin of life. It explains the diversity of life. Darwin named his famous treatise "On the Origin of species" for a reason. Thirdly, there is no peer reviewed research that disproves evolution, or proposes a viable alternative. If you know of any, enlighten us.
Finally, my exception is with Ghamidi propagating falsehoods.
@auh786 i am with you when u say that evolution explains the diversity of life and also when u say that it doesnt explain origin but ppl do extrapolate it back to origin of life. I am of course not proposing another alternative. btw, i did not understand ur logic of probability (will and might?? )
I don't dispute that there is ignorance about the theory of evolution. It's the job of those in the know to better explain it.
About probability, as an example, consider a roll of dice. On a given toss you MIGHT get a six (one-in-six probability). But, if you toss it a million times you WILL get many sixes (roughly 160000 of them).
@waqasanees so what does it mean? For me it a proof of a universal and one creator. For you it is may be different. So is it a proof. Btw, if apes are just 2% different from man in relation to genetic make up, how are they so different. Basic physiology is same and yet such a big differnence in lifestyle and culture and intelligence. And now plz dont say that apes are different from humans wrt lifestyle and intelligence.

There is no competing scientific theory with evolution.
