Thanks bro, that sounds more realistic so I'll go check out the other song... I'm kind of a noob when it comes to names of songs and bands ( even though I've heard classic rock all my life) but I know good music when I hear it...
@Chinatownsoverseer No, according to the band at the time, it's about the evils of the record companies. A new artist coming in, getting sucked in and then realizing they are part of the machine. Have A Cigar takes the story further
David gilmour is singing this.hes the machine...remember,roger is not with the band any more, off in left field doing circles, like my sperm,i guess its retarted...
When the young Woodstock Warrior was being blackmailed by the Police State to work for them, the Captain said, “Welcome my son, Welcome to the Machine.”
@DEADSHADOW777 David Gilmour sings it on the original release of Wish you were here. Gilmour sings the lead on most of Pink Floyd's songs after 1968 with the exception of "Animals" (He sang lead on "Dog's which he wrote as "You got to be crazy") He split vocal duties with Waters on "The Wall" but I don't think he sang at all on "The Final cut". He sings ALL Pink Floyd lead vocals after 1983 - present.
I really wish the guy waving his fist infront of the camera would've stopped. Not only did it block the view, it just looks idiotic. I almost have a sympathetic embarrassment for him.
I had no idea this was played post-waters. Gilmour didn't sing it perfect on the album so I thought he avoided it. He does a pretty good job here though. Love it.
Friends, this music has no less than 35 yrs... It's a great musical piece as well as a technological prodigy. In the 70s synths were just beggining, but these guies made them to sound great!
I find more irony in the fact you have such a biased impression of Russia.
This song would be even more fitting for the US population being assimilated into their hyper religious extremist war machine, in which they gladly die for their masters' fascist military regime.
@godzillasmother well actually id say, here the machine is referring to a more capitalist style society where people are slave to their wants, working a hell life in hopes of riding jaguars and eating steak at bars. wellcome to this society which eats your life but you cant escape. but thats just what i think, who knows wat floyd thought
I'm pretty sure "the machine" refers the record industry circa 1973-4, the whole album was about their experiences in the process of becoming rich and famous. Biting the hand that fed them basically!
Sounds like two audio sources were used and they overlap in the beginning and it sounds pretty f*ed up at 0:48 til 1:00 but from then on it's awesome!
Turns out this is the Melbourne audio over a different show's video source... might not want to mislead people with false information, regardless of the good intentions
