When you make part 2 keep in mind Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2... Leon is in the second way at the end for about 5 seconds.

I actually looked at a lot of sources, and apperently games like alone in the dark and sweet home were the games that created a lot of the themes in the genre, but resident evil was the first to be dubbed a survival horror game.

But there were games before RE that would most likely be considered part of that genre today.

To me, Resident Evil is the reason I still play video Games today. I love the series and I hope Resident Evil 5 doesn't disappoint.
