  • There are no sound chips on the TI calcs, but there are rudimentary ways of pushing waveforms through the IO port. The IO port itself is a 2.5mm audio jack. Get a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter, plug in your headphones, receive sound.

  • How do I get this? all the roms I find are too big

  • eehhh why is there a Mario on a Link game?

  • Is there a way to disable sound?

  • @Subspaceking It's disabled by default

  • O__o I had no idea a TI-84+ have sound chips.

  • @Damauveropolis They don't. He had to use pure assembly and the link port. :)

  • Does it work on a TI-83 Plus but not "SE" ?

  • If you have an nspire, you can always PM me for help, I can send you files to get any Game boy / GameBoy Color game on your calculator

  • This is simply CRAZY. I didn't thought it was possible. A great, big kudos to you, sir.

  • just downloaded it. i have no clue how to get it on my calculator. can someone please tell me?

  • I just completed Final Fantasy Tactics for the TI-86. Check out the video now at youtube.com/watch?v=7l2BjjxyxGw

  • wow these graphics are horrible compared to those of a nspire gbc emulator

  • It doesn't work on TI-84/SE.... :(

  • @LinkBean For the love of cheese cubes, couldn't you see the big warning at the beginning of the readme? Your calculator is probably too new. I'm still working on a new version that will be compatible, so it might work in the future.

  • @calc84maniac Oh I see that now...lol I've read the whole description but I didn't see that part XD oh well. But yeah, it'd be awesome if you could get it to work on a SE! Good luck, live long and prosper, and all that good stuff

  • @calc84maniac

    Please do!

    = /

    We're waiting on you!

  • @LinkBean omnimaga.org

the betas work with all new calcs like mine :)

  • @LinkBean it doesn't work on any ti 84 Se's made after 2007. Ti made it impossible for the emulator to access the ram on the calculator, rendering it useless

  • My calculator doesn't make sounds.

  • @amgoo12 u have to buy a certian type of headphones at radioshack then u plug in at the top of calculator

  • I believe this is fake...

    why?

well the TI83, TI84 and TI89 doesnt have speakers?

Im ready to be prooved wrong...

  • @g4yktzgjx6 just plug small headphones into it. iuse a headphone from and old nokia phone

  • @g4yktzgjx6 He added in the sound himself

  • Haha, the sound is all slow and lethargic.

  • @DarkGhostlyDeath

They shouldve spent more time working on the music, but whatever. It must've took a lot of time doing the rest of the game anyway.

  • can't watch your gb color emu video in Germany because of copyrighted material, I guess the music, which sucks a lot.

  • impressive

  • what emulator did you use.

  • I have the same TI-boy emulator on my ti-84 plus, just one quick question, how did you get the graphics to be so clear i keep running into the problem of the graphics being distorted. they also flash way too much to even be read

  • You'll have to zoom in using the numpad. If you want the "camera" to follow a certain sprite, use the (-) key. Check the readme for more details

  • @calc84maniac

alright thnx that helped a lot

  • Holy fuck, This is calc program is how I'll fail math

  • someone tell me how I can put this on my calculator please

  • stfu

  • That's amazing!

  • Fantastic man! Awesome program. The only problem I am having is getting sound to work. I bought a 3.5 to 2.5 mm converter and I plug it in after I select the app and I get no sound. I tried following the directions but they don't appear to work for me. Also, am I supposed to send wabbitemu to my calculator? I am confused.

    Great program, good man.

    Thanks

  • works for pokemon red- a bit glitchy tho

  • lol ichcolate.

  • WTF you got sound on your calculator...?

  • @iChocolateAddict You just need to plug a phone headset or 2.5mm headphones into the link port of the 83+/84+ family. (NOT USB)

  • @iChocolateAddict You can get a cable for your calculator to hear sound.

  • @iChocolateAddict

    straight from the readme:

"Q:How do I hear the sound?

A: Go to Radioshack and buy a 2.5mm-male to 3.5mm-female adapter. Then plug one end into your calculator's data port and plug headphones into the other end. Note that you should only plug them in after the emulator is running, because otherwise it will make the TI-OS unresponsive until you remove them.

  • @iChocolateAddict

ye with earphones, though you need to buy a plug

  • hey! could you please tell me where you got this rom in a msg or something please! all the roms I find are too big! even for this game and pokemon! I need your help please!!!!

  • Please can someone explain me how to put this on my Casio calculator?

  • It'd have to be a different software, I think.

  • And no, I don't mean the Johto game remakes, (HG/SS.) That was programmed for the DS, & thus I think we would all be VERY surprised...

  • It would be amazing if someone got the Johto Pokemon games emulated on the TI's this emu is for. Seriously.

  • i'm using ti-84 silver edition and my os is 2.43 but when i run the app, as i was told to do it gives me the error message that states "since ti changed the 84+ hardware in 2007, ti-boy doesn't have all the ram it needs. sorry! see the readme for more info." i checked the read me, and have about 23000 of ram left. Is there a way to get it to work, or another application for a newer version

  • That means it won't work on your calculator revision (TI decided to be stupid and changed the hardware in 2007)

  • Thanks, and i realy like your demo. Also i had to show more info on the side. (i didn't see that sorry)

  • Where can i get the emulator, and how do i get the gameboy games as well

  • The emulator download link is in the video description, and you'll need to use a search engine to find the games

  • Where can I download a Pokemon rom?

  • On the Internet.

  • No, the archive is Flash ROM. There's a ton of space there, over 400KB on the TI-84+ and 1400KB on the Silver Edition, if I remember correctly.

  • Actually, it goes in Archive, not RAM. But yeah, that app will only fit on a Silver Edition (though keep in mind that application files are bloated on the computer, and are actually about half as large on the calculator)

  • LOL math class just got fun XD :D

  • what does the i/o port do anyway

  • The I/O port is for sending and receiving data to/from a computer or another calculator. It has two lines, each with two voltage levels (on and off), which is perfect for generating square waves like on the Game Boy.

  • That's a lotta slowdown.

  • Epic

  • yeah the game freezes and ram clears for me too plz tell me how to fix this

  • Rofl, that's freaking hardcore. Everything that is anything has emulators now, no kidding...

  • damn i can't get it to work, i have it on but then whenever i go on it game freezes and ram gets cleared, i have a 84 Silver Edition

  • Same here!!

  • How do I get the games?

  • Holy shit I want to cry

  • great! next time wanna include the site?????

  • Wow! If we could play Pokemon with link support, our math class would go wild!!!

  • @baosen92 you can play bomber man on it. multiplayer.

  • trickman01: read the description, plzkthx

  • how do i download this? from what site?

  • Well, there is a current bug which makes the emulator crash on 84+ calculators manufactured in the last 2 years or so. I've been unable to determine exactly what is causing this, but I think Texas Instruments made some subtle change in the hardware. Sometime I hope to find a way around this.

  • Well first of all, the Silver Edition calculators have a capacity of about 1.5MB. Also, the cartridge sizes range from 32KB to 4MB. Link's Awakening happens to be a 512KB cartridge.

  • Is this real?

I mean it looks like the speed would match, but the pixels, and the resolution as a whole just don't look right to me for the calc. Also, while you were typing in the name, the design looked too smooth for the calc's 94x62 pixel resolution.

I'm not convinced it's really playing on the calc, but I'm not convinced otherwise.

  • It looks smooth at that point because it wasn't scaling at all - it showed a subset of the game boy screen. At the beginning though, I had it scaled out. If you want to confirm it, you can always try the alpha release (the link is in the description of the second preview). By the way, the second preview looks WAY better due to the grayscale support.

  • Ok, I'll definitely try it out

    How big is the file?

I program a lot, and I don't have much space left on my calc.

Or, on the other hand, it might work on my computer's 83+ emulator...

  • Hey, tried it out. Works real well for the calculator.

Distracted me from math for a good week or two, then I found out that the RAM crashes (with the saved file) every time I try to quit after beating (or for that matter, entering or leaving) the first dungeon.

Still was cool though. Tried to get some friends into it, but turns out all of their calculators were made too recently. Good thing about it though is that they won't get to crash their RAM, which some of them actually use. (like I do)

  • Id love to have that even if only zelda and metroid work. this is the best thing i have seen on a calc

  • Impressive...

    But can't you release a beta? I mean, Zelda: LA is really the only game I need anyway^^;

    Maybe THE best game EVER:D

  • Well, I'd really prefer getting compatibility with more games before I make a release. I've started to get Metroid II working, at least. =)

  • So authentic, you can almost hear the startup "♫ ping!"

  • What kind, or size of headphones do you use?

  • I use normal headphones, with an adapter to make it work with the calculator's smaller link port (which I just bought today, actually). Prior to this I was forced to rely on the Wabbit emulator for sound.

  • Thanks, I'll try to buy one this week.

  • And while you wait for this project to be finished (might take a while), there are also a few music players released already that you can use your adapter for, the most famous being CalcMod and QuadPlayer. =)

  • I have a music make for my TI-89 Titanium. They should make some prgrams for the TI-nspire, it's so left out in the programing world.

  • yeah the problem with the nspire is that its programming capabilities in BASIC are more limited than Casio calcs from the '80s (not even an input function), it got no native ASM support and no one ever managed to hack it to load asm programs on it (in the same fashion than the TI-73, 82 and 85)

  • this is super awesome, saw all screenies in #omnimaga and i was shocked at how fast it ran compared to Emu8x, even if this GB emu needs to emulate much more than Emu8x did. Awesome job calc84maniac.

  • Very impressive work!
