  • FAIL!

  • OMG, was that the weakest dead stop on a turn launch I ever saw !! I don't know what GM was thinking with the new Caprice? its so sad its not even built in the states!! more American jobs gone over seas!!! nothing will ever match the iconic 1991-1996 caprice platform!! those car are tanks, and still in service in a few depts today ! The little Impalas are cute, but too many issues, body control modules, front hub bearings, intakes and of course the transmission !! WAKE UP GM !!

  • already did but its was to beast to just stay there. i rammed that shit and got out. will u change ur name jackof2010

  • Are you seriously kidding? The new Caprice will kick both the CV and old Caprice in every way! Much bigger inside than both and doesn`t handle like a boat, way faster. Not having a frame is an advantage - lighter, just as stronger, better handling. Wait till you see one in the flesh - nothing like an Impala and totally designed in Australia. They sell the luxury versionin Saudi Arabia and those guys are very hard on cars - they love these! If GM brains they`d bring the whole range to the US

  • @Aussie74ify you should see the results from the Michigan State Police vehicle testing, it kicked the Crown Vic and Charger's butt and blew the old Caprice out of the water

  • The Crown Vic is better than this BUT since it won't be sold anymore this is the cop car to use. Chargers suck and the new Taurus interceptor has FWD. Now no one blabber to me that there is also an AWD Taurus interceptor, because the cities and towns won't be spending extra money on police cars.

  • Wow, this is even worse then the new ford police interceptor

  • 94 caprice lt1 is better then that piece of shit. My ex cop car wild dust that lil bucket

  • @ivannnorttthsaccc916 will you push that trash of a cop car into a ditch?

  • P.O.S! Crown Vic and ford fusion is way better!!

  • That looks like a car for the Pansy Police, I would not be one bit intimidated by that!

  • Chevy, if you're going to bring back the Caprice patrol car then bring it back. dont morph an Impala and a Malibu and call it a Caprice. Looks like something you would see in Europe. Total lack of command presence. Please go back to the drawing board on this.

    A California Police Officer

  • when is the caprice coming back to the states?

  • This Car Is in middle east if you go there you will see it in every street

We Have LS and LTZ And The powerful LS2 in the SS and Royale..

  • @StreetExperence I have the SS 2009 and its not in every street but the LS , LTZ are

  • @KillyWildlands

Its different in my country .. :)

We have the SS in every street ..

  • the Ford Taurus police car is way better looking than this

  • @indyfeds But the Taurus is a front wheel drive, this isn't. These cars have already earned their reputation in Australia. Australian police forces use the VE Holden Commodore for pursuit and patrol cars, which is what this car is based on

  • this looks like a cool cop car. ill agree to the idea. and with some cash and money as a bonus u can make it fuel efficient!

  • @daytonaracer7 They already are efficient. They have an engine management system called Active Fuel Management, which shuts down cylinders when it doesn't need them e.g. idling

  • Wow chevrolet is gonna make money!

  • For this video being for a huge corporation like chevy you'd thnk they'd get somebody who can actually proffesionally work a camera

  • GM says they paid attention to what police officers want.... seems like the only thing they did was change the seats. the car looks crappy, and if u compare to the new taurus police car it looks like ford paid more attention... plus the quality looks miles apart in the Ford too. the Chevy is a pile all the way around. Fords got this market covered.

  • @maurader81 The only thing I believe the caprice has the ford beat on is the Larger V-8 engine (tho the HP is about the same, personal preferance is of sheer power) and rear wheel drive, which most law enforcement officers are used to, which may be a big deciding point, but everything else ford's got caprice beat on for sure.

  • This as a police cruiser? Well it sure doesn't look all that tough like the charger, crown, or the new ford interceptor. The front end doesn't intimidate anyone, and the rear looks like the impala. Looks like Chevy got lazy on this one. The only thing I can say good for it is RWD and seems to have adequate room. The shifter is in a bad place needs to be on the column. Much easier to put into gear when needed to get out in a hurry. I think departments wont keep these around for long.

  • too bad they outperform and cost less than chargers. they also have a 50 50 weight ratio- they handle very nicely- this car runs neck and neck with the bmw5. the g8 gt looks far classier and more aggressive than the bricklike charger- they just dont have any front end or rear end moldings, decent grill, or scoops on the cop cruiser version.

  • cant wait to get my hands one when they start to retire them.

  • @chaosad09 Good luck, from what ive read these are to be sold strictly as police vehicles so they likely wont get into public hands once they are retired, most likely striped down or destroyed. But that may change who knows.

  • @chryslerdaytona that sucks :(

  • sorry but i rather an old crown vic. chevy cars don't look like police and the ones we had as a unit were crap. always breaking down. the old fords keep on rolling

  • @j2joshua Gotta love the crown vics, there's a department by where I live who still has an early 90's vic in service.. It's a shame too see such a great car go for no apparent reason and be replaced by a tech-ed up sedan with a much smaller engine and completely different drivetrain

  • @j2joshua Remember, this isn't an American built Chevy. It's really a stripped down Holden Caprice, designed and built in Australia. They put them through more in prototype testing than any police force ever could

  • I will have to agree with some of the other comments. The center shifter isn't ideal for a police cruiser. I have done a couple ride-alongs in police suv with center shifters(Explorer)and with the laptop and everything else getting to the shifter can be a pain. Although this looks like the laptop is in a better location and the shifter has plenty of room, just kind of suprised they went with it. Also seems like they could integrate more in the center with the shifter gone. We'll see how it does.

  • good they NEED some thing to replace thos weak piece of shit FORD CROWN VICTORIAS

  • agree with that sucks fixing the same piece of crap that always breaks on those. transmission #40 going into unit 621 he blew it again!!

  • i had 2 fords that aLL died from the same problem.

  • The shifter has worked for decades where it is mounted in the Holden commodore SS, There would be a large cost in retooling in Australia(maybe not worth it). It's not even a option on the steering colum.Maybe you American's have to deal with it.

  • nah, us americans shouldn't have to deal with such a terrible design from holden. police cars have never had center shifter since the 60 for one simple reason, its in the damn way

  • @pcar00 You haven't driven one yet, have you? Handbrake and shifter aside, they would be a huge improvement on the old police Caprices, as they don't wallow around corners, or power slide like the General Lee in the Dukes of Hazzard. I've driven the Australian version some 2000 miles, and they would endear themselves to just about anyone.

  • @Mechknight73 well there hasn't been a caprice cop car in about 14 yrs or so since they stopped making them so why don't you compare the car to the current police car market. Newer crown vics don't wallow around corners and neither do chargers. Like i said before, yea, the new ppv is quick and will handle, and has room inside, but there is no quality there.

  • @pcar00 Not there hasn't although these Caprices are still way ahead of the US market in a lot of ways. Build quality is international class, and I've worked in used car yards that feature European "prestige" badges. When Holden were developing them, they used the BMW 5-Series as a benchmark, and even the harshest of motoring writers agreed that they've beaten them

  • Wow, about time GM got back into the police vehicle market. Front end not too menacing, and I'll bet after a couple of test markets the first thing to go will be the center shifter

First year re-do's always take time to get used to, and I'm sure that GM will make adjustments. Hopefully it sticks. All of my friends in law enforcement say that the Caprice beat the crap out of Crown Vics when it came to acceleration back in the 90's, we'll see how the rest of it holds up

  • @clof2001 The two main advantages this car will always have over the Crown Vic is handling and acceleration. This car's base model is really the Holden Commodore, which has been used for over three decades as a police cruiser. They don't waste any time in the corners by power sliding or sluggish acceleration. They can also tolerate a lot of abuse.

  • that console shifter in the center as got to go

  • I wish they were making a civilian version of this vehicle. I happen to be 6'9" and have a very hard time driving most new vehicles. The specially designed seats the presenter mentioned in the video could potentially alleviate my problem.

  • i used to love the caprice when it was a REAL police car not some import pile of shit. at this point i think i will keep my old crown vic untill its wheels fall off. better yet get me an old plymouth furry now those where police cars, they where built so damn tough you could nail a deer at 65 mph and it would just keep on going. stop when ya get to town an wash the blood off. this thing looks like if ya hit a cat it would cost $5,000 in body repairs

  • this is the uglyest squad car ive ever seen. just cuz ya give it the name of an old reliable platform doesent make it a police car. ive played with police cars since i was in dapers, my first car was an old gran fury if that tells ya anything and this thing is NOT a police car. they put a console shift in this thing. ask any cop and they will tell ya this is a bad idea cuz it leaves no room for extera equipment like swich panels and radios not to mention shotguns and M16s

  • @cadddy1871 So.. if a car is ugly then it means it's not good police car?? u would think the best vehicle for the job would be used regardless of it's looks ???..This platform has been used as a police car for years in other countrys aswell as the short wheelbase G8(holden SS) for decades in Aust with many radios LCD sceen etc without any probs.Did you not see the gun racks between the seats??So it seems your makeing judgement on a vehicle that you have not seen in the flesh let alone driven

  • Australian made car :P

  • no matter if the car is V10 engines or 4 cylinder police car, you should slow down when you see them, that save you tons of pennies

  • when holden made high performance road cars that will do 250+Ks i thought "give em to the yanke cops to thrash the fuck out of,they'll have fun and reliability"...lol.

  • Its a rebadging of the G8 GT Pontiac.

  • I like it, but I have always wanted something more like a crossover, something with a higher seating position for easier ingress/egress as well as a better view of your surroundings and AWD for better all-weather utility.

  • this is a impala!, i want the bubble car again!

  • @cop982002 Not even close! This is a rebadged Holden Caprice, designed and built in Australia. All it has in common with the Impala is the bowtie badge on its nose. Although if you get to drive either one of these or a Pontiac G8 (SWB version of this car) you'll understand why GM is seeling them as police cruisers
