ann margret is amazing full of electricity and soul, the magic of this woman is outstanding, great actress, singer, dancer with soul, a female version of elvis
Reading some comments, I have to correct a couple of things. Elvis & Ann Margret met, had an affair, & fell in love during the making of Viva Las Vegas in 7/ 63. She says when they met an electrical current shot through them that became a "force" they couldn't control, & lasted over a year, It wasn't because Elvis refused to leave Priscilla because neither were married at the time, but Priscilla had moved in a few months before in 3/63, & Elvis had to make promises to marry her some day.
It was those promises that kept them apart. Ann & Elvis were a perfect match: shy, reserved, & family centered in life, & wild performers! Ann lived with her parents till marriage, & Elvis always had his family living with him. Elvis went to Ann in 67 before he announced Priscilla's pregnancy to tell her how he still felt, & tried to get her back after his separation, but she had married Roger a week after Elvis married, & remained loyal to her husband. Sad for Elvis in particular.
@epmelodygirl Could you imagine Priscilla, while married to Elvis, making a movie like "Carnal Knowledge?" Elvis would have been out of his mind. Additionally, Elvis knew what went on backstage/offstage while doing a movie, so I would have wonder if that was one of the reasons he kept her out of the public eye.
@epmelodygirl@epmelodygirl I still don't think that EP would have ever married Ammo b/c she was a celebrity and in show business and he would never have been comfortable with that arrangement; however, he did love her deeply and I believe that this was one of the only 'adult' relationships that he had after he became famous, with the exception being June in 1956. Watching Ammo in movies(Carnal Knowledge) and on stage, EP would have never been happy with her working.
This "Ann-Margret: When You're Smiling" special was repeated by NBC on Oct. 28, 1973, after the showing of "Peggy Fleming Visits the Soviet Union," aired under the "Bell System Family Special" banner (and, coincidentally, produced by Bob Banner).
She's married to Roger Smith from the Sunset Strip teevee show. Roger Vadim was the pig that was married to Bridgett Bardot and Jane Fonda, among others. He was a rich pimp. Roger Smith is a good husband and man. They have been married for ever, and I think he is sick with some sort of progressive disease, that is why she is out of the public eye. She is wonderful...
Roger and Ann have been married since 67. I think Roger's condition is better, but she did care for him & manage her career at the same time for years. I don't think she has performed in Vegas since 2004, but is still making movies--has one completed for 2010 & is working on one now. She has worked consistently through the years.
Beautiful Ann...I was merely 17 years old when I saw you in Vegas and went back stage to meet you. I was invited to your suite after the second show. Roger was waiting on the sofa watching the tape of your performance. Not easily impressed by stars, however till this day I tell people I was in awe watching you walk down the spiral staircase in your suite at Ceasers. You are the most feminine woman I have ever met in my life. I am always told I "Look Like Ann Margret" that you beautiful..love it!
I am frank and I would say A-M is probably the most under-rated actress in USA during the 20th-century. She had the ability to be among the top 10 maybe top 5. Great beauty ,Sing ,dance act and besides being a lovely person. What went wrong? She was nominated twice for Oscar though.
I have had the good fortune to see most of the "big' entertainers out there, but none matched Ann-Margret for her performance and her incredible beauty! What a talent!!

Dancing like that would never make the cut today.
Ann-Margaret may be an entertainer, but not a dancer.

True and Ann Margret was the perfect blend of the "good girl" & the "bad girl" for Elvis.
