I am French and I do the difference between British and English... But I must recognise that I am not in the majority in my country ! I am fond of History, and I know the Old Alliance, between French and Scottish, is visible, especially on rugby forums. I would recall that during french and indian wars (here : guerre de sept ans), French were totally outnumbered by English and colons troops. French were about 50.000 colons (men, women, children and old) and maybe 10-15k men in arms.

Les homard rouges (red coats) were about 55.000. If you added reserves men, English fighters were outnumbering all the french people in the colony ! Never the less, the french resisted 7 years. It's partly due to the Marquis of Montcalm which was a great general, tactically, strategically but also diplomatically. He has known to concentrate his few troops in the good points at the right moment to surprise the heavy english army.

But French had no chance to win this "battle of Canada", I recall that most of french army was fighting in Europe against outnumbering ennemies. The second reason of the "french resistance" in Canada is that Montcalm has been able to federate and to link more indians tribus than English did. It has slightely changed the ratio between "french and indians" fighters and english ones. But it has been far from sufficient.

Finally, Lord (?) Wolfe has finished to learn from montcalm and has done what he should have already done : concentrate his far superior army to take the 2 key cities : Quebec and Montreal. The death of Montcalm was the end of the french hopes : They had no other great general there, when the English had few generals able to lead as Wolfe.

To finish, a great and interesting video, and it is right to say that for all the serie : BRAVO !

Sometimes, they would kill the older woman and just take the young ones, raping them mercilessly along the way. Im both part French and English and Quebec is the most importent part of Canada for example the French began Canada long before the english came but the english also expanded Canada so both Quebec and the english provinces helped make Canada what it is today

Good production values on the PBS stuff. Nice interlock with Michael Mann's work too (his attention to detail is astounding). Only part that wasn't quite accurate was, the colonists and soldiers were killed in and around the fort by the Huron (some drunk on French rum rations) then the fort was burned to the ground. There are conflicting reports from 500 english and provincials dead to 2,500. Most sold into slavery. I was a tour guide there for two years so, well done over -all!

The video was only 6 minutes, so I put some part of the last of the mohicans, it is accurate. Only the Massacre by the Natives is exagerated, only 75 have been killed by Indian. But anyways in my video you don't see more then 75 peoples dying in the massacre. The Montcalm siege is more accurate in the movie then in the documentary, they had more budget.
