So many great Front 242 tracks are still missing, too bad I only had them on an audio tape which I played so often until it broke (I was a teenager back then, forgive my piracy :-) )
Front 242 assuraient, et leur ancien matériel assure encore aujourd'hui et écrase la concurrence. Je me suis arrêté à leur album Live reboot. Bravo les gars.
Shoot the sonofabitch who put here "dislike". Just like in UK u cant offense queen, on youtube u should be punish for saying anything bad about EBM bearing song!:)))
better djs back in the day would mix this with stuff like kraftwerk, throbbing gristle, chicago house and disco trax sometimes augmented with drum machines. what a time...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually.. this is better known as synthpop, or just synth. it also falls in the industrial cat. Electronica is more like chem brothers, crystal meth, orbital.
Actualy Throbbing Gristle(TG) came into Industrial first(VERY FIRST, EVER!!!) and then they tried ot use the "EBM" idea(wihh was'nt really a official gwenre at that time) but you cna hear tracksl ike "Convincing People" "Something Came over Me" and ofc "Hot On The Heels Of Love" that they invented the Industrial+EBM Sound, later came Front 242 and continued evolving.
Kraftwerk = EDM Inventers and pioner
Throbbing Gristle = Industrial and EBM(start) inventers and Front 242 invented EBM fully.
Kraftwerk was formed almost 15 years earlier than F242. I like both bands and have been to concerst of both bands, but for me it's not possible to say, which is better or more inventive. Because as you say they are hard to compare. Yes both make electronic music and oc F242 was influenced by Kraftwerk a lot.
If you talk about invention of electronic music you have to mention Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre first. They started in the late 60's and early 70's.
If it's about influence on electronic music from the late 60's tilt today, then everybody has to admit that Bands like F242, Frontline Assembly, Leatherstrip, Skinny Puppy...... have influenced most of the following electronic music and the musicians.
What about Throbbing Gristle ? They started the whole industrial thing. That's where 242 got most of their influence from not Kraftwerk. That's why I said bad comparison. Nothing industrial about Kraftwerk.
i think throbbing gristle were around the same time as kraftwerk weren't they?
either way i'd say kraftwerk were more inventive in the more literal sense..they were starting from scratch where as F242 had something to continue from....all amazingly good bands though
Front 242 RULES! I lived in Brussels for five years, around the time these guys were at the heights of their genius. And they know how to boogie, too.

errr, actually scalawaggy...
The term EBM was first used to describe Kraftwerk in 1978, next to fall into the genre was Front 242, other industrial bands soon followed.
Please check your facts before correcting people :]
