Well in america they were getting big but the people were still recovering from the death of Nirvana frontman kurt cobain, and werent quite ready for Oasis, in Europe i cant tell you but i do know that unfortunatly many people here in america know oasis as "the wonderwall/champagne supernova" guys" and thereby dont consider oasis a rock band as much as a backstreet boys/Nsync type group. its tragic i know but the few of us who do know who they really are follow them stronger another bands fans

Even their haircuts made front page news. Be Here Now later sold more copies in it's first week then anything the Beatles put out and Morning Glory has sold about the same as Sgt Pepper though it only took Oasis 2 and half years to match those sales whereas Sgt Pepper had 30 years or so.
