When i see this car for the first time i was 12, Now 21 Years later i've got this car and i enjoy it more than the original owner because unlike him I will not sell the car. Still Really good.
Im glad I own one these legends , bought it of an older aged man that didnt drive it , he is the original owner , have all the 4 keys , and the old cool phone in it hahha , Im afraid to say im in Love with this beauty of a car . Lexus SC 400
I checked out a used SC400 today. What a beautiful car, the styling is very elegant, smooth, and graceful, interior is very luxurious, and I didn't even test drive the car, but I can tell its performance is top notch, in both acceleration and handling.
I have a 96 sc 400 blk on blk luv the car... fast ass coupe.....put a lil bit of money into it..yOU'll have urself a rocket ship that looks sweeeet!!!!!!!! shout out to eveyone who own a lexus sc 92-99 !!!!
I bought a 1991 gold soarer V8 6 days ago i have to say the handling ,comfort, and power is just awesome. The is truly one of a kind, but it's sad how a lot of owners treat it like garbage just cause they bought it cheap.
What I love about this car is you have 3 choices of motors. If you just want a cruiser the 2jz-ge (sc300) is pretty good reliable motor. You want a sports soarer gotta go the 1jz-gte (pretty common here in australia). Ultimate luxury decent performance the 1uz-fe (sc400). Would love to own one of each :p
I do enjoy my 98 sc300, but it is a luxury car, not a sports car or even a sporty luxury car. It's a SUPERB highway commuter car, if you don't count the blind spots. But you really don't have a huge amount of roadfeel, especially for a RWD, and the transmission, understandably for a 180,000 mile automatic, is beginning to slip and hesitate. Alot of cars however would be on their third tranny by that mileage. A solid and handsome car w/ crap interior space and somewhat lacking performance.
Yeah but in japan there was a 3rd option. 1jz-gte. Not at all lacking in performance. The 2jz-ge is a great motor but they are so heavy the soarer. Even my 1uz supercharged isn't that quick. But people with the 1jz-gte with some cheap mods can get a really fast soarer.
i have a 92 sc300 and my father has a 03 3 series coupe and asks to drive my car whenever he sees it and i cant stand to drive his, simply amazing car even w.o the 2jzgte engine in the supra
Have a SC300, very reliable vehicle, but a little joyless as far as a driver's car. That stylish, oval interior is MURDER on efficiency, as the interior is tiny and claustrophobic, with a matching miniscule trunk, although the car is big on the outside. I had to use it as a only means of transport for 4 months and that was enough time to put me in a few rough spots. I DO like the lexus, but when I get in my 86 535i 5 speed, it just feels alot more natural, roomy, sporty, faster, better.
It's a good thing that the hood got raised. I really don't like cars with a long low hood and with a high trunk. Honda Prelude is a good example if a poor design.
Lol.. this car would never sell today if it was exactly the same video. But till today I still think this car can compete against newer cars. I own a 98 model with the newer bumpers and skirts. I would still drive this car over a dime a dozen Z's, g35's, SC430's, etc.. w/ similar round bodies. I still stop people who's seen this car before.
the toyota soarer which is the lexus sc400 was way more advance for its age then any other car at that time, I own a 1995 sc400 black on black and I love it, I wouldnt sell it for the world, cant say the same about the sc430 they could of done a better job, it looks like a toyota solara
yup I love my 94 DWP SC400 with tan interior. I also think that the SC430 could've been a lot better. Many people think I have the new model over the SC430
@1313dufferin I totally agree, I own a 98 sc400. gold and tan. I've done the w58 conversion and magnaflow exhaust and can't find a reason to mess with anything else. The car just feels right.
i have a 1993 sc400 an my ball joint came out for my lower control arm am from The Bahamas an no store over here has a ball joint for my car do u where in the states i cant order or get one
I have a 98 SC300 and love the design of the car but how Toyota marketed it in this video is BS. "emotion" and "feel" are hallmarks of the roaring 90s when it was for the most part peace and prosperity so people occupied their time with fluff.
They designed the car with pure science that lead to a very sleek design. The design was just way ahead of its time. These cars still look better than most new cars and we are pushing 20 years from when they started planning this car!
I have a '92 SC400, which doesn't matter, just thought I'd throw that in, but I completely agree with the fakeness of the advertisement of this car by using such words. But being in the 90's have nothing to do with that, because companies yesterday, today and tomorrow will still throw in such words to sell their vehicles. Like the new Ford Fusion feels your adrenaline gland with such passion that reminds you of what its like, to lose your virginity. Or Something along those lines... maybe...
@texan176 this car wasnt marketed for the average buyer. the sticker price on this car was 40k+ so no teachers or housewifes were driving this around. Toyota took the right step in marketing this car
@sexyboi142 i think u wrong this car was 100 grand+ in australia not 40 grand+...a corrola is 25 grand this car iam sure is around the 100 grand mark when it came out but its worth $2000 now lol
I've been lucky enough to drive one of these for the last few years. Mine's a 4.0 litre V8 and incredibly only costs around £4k that's less than $8K. It's just a joy to drive.
I have a feeling a decade or two from now, this car is going to become a classic that people are going to be going after. Better buy them now while they're still cheap!
@Brendonbosy i agree, my dad bought one in '92 and now my mom thinks it's an old piece of junk (he has since gotten a new car) and she wants to sell it. i keep telling her to please keep it. i want it when i can drive!
This was my favorite car ever since I was a kid. I remember seeing one on the road for the first time in the early 90s and it was absolutely stunning. Sure cars today have become faster, safer, and more sophisticated, but nothing today can ever truely replace this classic design Lexus came up with. I can understand why they decided to make the SC430 completely different. You just can't change the SC400 because its perfect the way it is.
I just got my first Lexus, a used '95 SC400. It's in great condition and looks like it was garage-kept and I'll continue to keep it in a garage. Here mine is: cardomain(dot)com/ride/2656291
A quick thing to clarify; by center of gravity, I mean in terms of height, not length. The height of center affects the degree of body roll the car produces. Too much body roll can deminish wheel grip on one side of the car, while applying too much on the other. Today, electronic stability control can correct this effect, but back in 1991, ESC didn't exist.
He is saying the car was able to go all out on the turn without becoming unstable. 50/50 ratio doesn't neccessarily mean a car can corner better or turn faster, but rather it has a more predictable handling for beginner drivers. The center of gravity and suspension are the two main determining factors of cornering ability. For quick and short corners, a higher rear-end weight ratio is actually better since it induces sliding and sway, conditions not favorable to beginner drivers.
Wow! Where did you ever get this video?? Can I have it? I'm a 100% fan of the 1st generation SC series. I think it is the best designed car. Okada was right, the car is the perfect balance. Its revolutionary, but not overly futurist like the ugly cars around today. Its nostalgic, but not overly boxy and archaic like the cars of the 80s. Its very sleek and elegant, but not overly obnoxious like the Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Most beautiful car to come from the 90s, and one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

A SC400 handles better than a BMW E34??? The man's a crackhead-- plain and simple-- The 535i has a 50/50 weight ratio--
But, you would expect a loyal employee to make statemens such as these--
