@ZachF3R Surv is optimal for PvP, but it's still the best spec to go with at low gear levels, as it beats MM when you're low on ARP, I raided with Surv til' i had 600 ARP from gear, then i went straight for ARP gemming and MM, and that's exactly what you should do, still i have mates raiding as Surv, since the prefer it, and surv sitill is a viable spec for PvE, dashing out around as much as MM, don't see any problem with TheMajm88's comment. :) You are the one who is "pro", probably. :)

We'll take a mage as an example. With AoE they are always hitting something, so they have high dps, but those hits are so low that they barely do any damage. Now take a Death Knight for example, they are only hitting one mob but they do a lot higher damage than the mage but not as quick so their dps is lower but the damage makes up for it. And in a raid what you care about is damage done because that shows how much you've actually helped in a raid. (most of the time)

Go do some research on the rotation cuz u have it all wrong, SV hunter doesnt have a rotation it has a shot priority rotation. i have no problem pulling 7-12k dps depending on fights. Orcnorris is my hunter(shattered halls -EU) check it out maybe the spec will help you out

Nope - it's just 8% - i think that's a 220 rating? Unless you want to grab the talent from the first MM line so you can bulk up your other stats if needed.

Focused aim: 3 ranks; reduces pushback 70% (with full ranks) for Steady Shot and incr. chance to hit by 3%

BM is quite underrated as a DPS spec... even at 80. Some standards are helpful though.. 4-set T9 or 2-set T10, are great starts.

Also, a lot of people don't think BM is difficult to play, yet requires some of the most intense proc/CD management for any class. I have done a few raids the past 2 days as BM (ToC 10/25) and have 6-7k in every fight. And my gear isn't exactly impressive.

Go mm or sv and learn how to watch your threat, and misdirect, and feign death, and lay traps, and disengage, and deterrence, etc etc.

Mastering those skills will make you a better hunter both in pve and pvp.

Why do you guys love BM.. Its possibly the most boring hunter spec to play. Keep SS up then steady shot to your hearts content. Use BW/KS/Rapid fire on CD.

At least with survival the rotation becomes a little more challenging with a couple more skills and watching for LnL procs but not clipping previous explosive shots.

And MM is less fun than survival, but at least its more fun than BM.

And this is not a dissing BM's DPS post, I just don't like the playstyle compared to the others.

reason why you were low dps on the valkyr twins was because your pet cant get an essence, and because your pet does the majority of your damage as a BM hunter you didnt get the improvement you could have if you were another hunter soec (the empowerment im sure contributed as well though).

Hehe BM is a good spec for dps aswell, but i dont like to use because its so dependent of your pet. If your pet dies it's atleast -40% for your overall damage. as in Marksmanship or Survival its only about 10-16% of you total damage so it doesn't hurt that much. =)

comparing your gear score to other hunters, differently specced (SV, MM) doesnt prove the point that the structure of BM is better than MM or SV. BM still is not the best spec to choose if you are a hunter in a top progression guild. I can honestly promise you in the bottom of my heart that Arp MM > BM.

EJ math and my own gear input into a spreadsheet show BM only 3% behind ArP MM (my current spec), which is leaps and bounds below 1k DPS. BM has never been so far behind as to gimp your raid should you spec it.
