  • I don't believe in Jesus Christ as supernatural messiah and I don't believe in a God or gods in the traditional sense.

But I'll be damned if this song doesn't touch my soul.

  • SEMPER FIDELIS

  • i just want to comment on how much of an absolute genius hans zimmer is with this soundtrack. The depth of this film is incredible and portrays the raw human emotion involved in war and beyond. the epicness of the soundtrack is only matched by the stunning cinematography... one of the best films ever made.

  • The moment I heard this song in the beginning of the film, I knew it had to be at the end as well! Literally made me cry

  • this makes me cry so much its so beautiful!!!!

  • dear youtube, i would like a loop-button for this one ;D

  • I like it. It remember me olds originals africans songs with only voices and hands.

  • @tolikechicken I think "spiritual" is a better moniker :-)

  • An underrated movie!

Terrence Mallick and his crew did such a great job of this one and the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer is just perfect.

Unfortunately most people do not see the deeper meaning this movie has and misunderstand it as just another war flick.

  • That, my friends, is definitely what one of the choirs in Heaven sounds like.

  • nice nice nice

  • Why this song is so short :( ?

  • Kudos to the ensemble cast , strong performances n an apt depiction of war ... Take a bow Terence Malick !

  • Such accurate depiction of what a war really means, almost all emotions accurately portrayed.Kudos to the ensemble cast especially Jim Caviezel n sean penn for putting up strong performances. Definitely Oscar material.

  • (The) War is just the physical manifestation of the pain and agony of the human condition. You see it written on the face of every man in the film.

  • Comfy In Nautica

  • @jfsae .. i agree ...

  • Thin Red Line & Mr Nobody

    (l) (l) (l)

    and The Pacific

  • This is one of the most beautiful sounds created by mankind.

  • es öffnet mein herz!

  • Nature is the only truth

  • im only sad that this song is so short

  • The older i get the better this movie becomes, there is a lot of pain in this movie, ive never been in a war but this movie affects me every time I watch it. The only other movie that taps into my emotions in such a profound way is Tree of Life also by Terrence Malick.

  • It was this part that got Jim Caviezel the lead in the movie "The Passion of the Christ".

So watching him in this movie, much younger, was like seeing Jesus in his hidden years, before he started preaching. That made the movie even more intense for me.

  • everytime i hear it i get risen to that next level

  • does anyone know what the lyrics are to this song? in the native language please?

  • an amazing film. i saw it back when it came out and always thought it was better than SPR. i had a friend who was a wanna be marine (which he turned out to be) that just didnt get it. TTRL is one of my favorite war films. powerful movie powerful music. film making at its very best.

  • 19 people are deaf

  • Damn, God must exist!

  • @coscorella Yes, and we are all God.

  • @Raford146 I can be pretty sure when I tell you I'm not God, lol. I'll put my trust in God, not me or my neighbor!

  • @DCussen "Why can we accept God becoming man to save man, but not man becoming God to save himself?"

  • @coscorella Geez, you religious people have the most idiotic logic ever. Just enjoy the damn music.

  • @kamikrazi123 I couldn't agree more buddy!

  • @kamikrazi123 He's using hyperbole you twat. Your own comment applies to you as well.

  • @coscorella Go to africa. In Rwanda, if u go to christian church, u will be amazed by the quality of the singers (and there are not professional singers). I'm pretty sure this song was inspired by african original songs. Come back to the roots ;-)

  • this song is hauntingly beautiful! gives me goosebumps! I so want to live in the world that comes to mind when I hear this song!

  • There are movies, then there are films, and then there are experiences. And riding along with Malick left me weeping like a child.

  • Very nice song for a great movie !

  • the thin red line. far and away the most poignant, emotional and life changing war film ever made.

  • How can someone dislike this amazing song.beautiful just beautiful

  • Hans Zimmer <3

  • I just transcribed this, great harmonies

  • Hans Zimmer: It explains it all :-)

  • @Ntalikeris666 Hand Zimmer did not compose that. You need a soul to create things like this track.

  • @cosmosspring

Can't let you say that. Hans saved his soul by creating the music for this masterpiece. Maybe he's now just a Hollywood's prostitute but I choose to remember him for TTRL.

  • This song many times runs through my head, i was walking the beaches in aruba in the early morning thinking of lifes struggles humming this song!!

  • THIS is the best Movie from this genre i´ve ever seen in my live. And when i hear this song combined with this citation i get goose pimples. awsome :)

  • So I saw this movie in english and I'm papua new guinean and I heard them singing and I'm like OMFG I KNOW WHAT THEIR SAYING and i got really excited and everyone was like wtf.. no one cares... sad moment. but it made me really happy. :)

  • @chlobayy So what are they saying? :P

  • @chlobayy It doesn't matter to me the meaning comes through just in the sound :)

  • Is this just english with heavy local color, or melanesi pidgin english?

  • bautiful

  • this song is so sad and this movie is awesome

  • Jesus you hold my hands You take my heart from me Yeah I will I will cry out for Him (Jesus) Jesus I cry for you Jesus what you did for him, I believe I know it shall come Come now with grace I will see, I trust in thee Jesus you will come now I know Come Jesus, I believe, Yeah I trust
  • @omexx25 'Is that what he says? What language is that?

  • 18 people cant see another world

  • Where can i get this song.

  • @Dipslick Check the more info, I mention the CD it's part of.

  • @Dipslick JDownloader

  • The Thin Red Line is a movie that is hard to digest when you first watch it, and appreciation only grows for the film as time passes. It's really great, actually.

  • Cha4k,

I agree completely, but what were you doing watching Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line when you were only 12?:)

  • @sigs002 They do make movies like this; you just have to wait for them. Watch out for "The Tree of Life,” Malick’s latest movie on limited release around the world and, with some luck, showing at a cinema near you sometime soon!

  • JT labo 14 made an awesome remix of this . (final fight)

  • beautiful film by a genius Malik.5stars from Greece

  • I still cry when earing this song...

  • good movie, good song, i like james caviezel's acting (especially in the count of monte christo)

  • thank you !!

  • Such wonderful harmony, no doubt traditional, echoing ancient times before Christianity was introduced to the Solomon Islands. Still I have no doubt that Christianity built itself well into the Solomon society and culture, no worse than any other foreign religion would. What I find sad though is that the song is sung in a mixture of distorted English and probably some local substratum when it could have been sung in Baeggu or Teanu or Savosavo or any other of a number of Solomonese languages.

  • @Marcqx They are singing in a pigeon English, what does that matter? They are also singing 'Jesus your holy hand belong to me' so it is not echoing 'ancient' time before Christianity!? These people are singing a song they sung long before the cameras for the film arrived, in the language of their tribe (English btw being no more 'foreign' than other solomonese languages) in worship of their chosen God. Do not patronize them and leave them be!

  • Remember the neighborhood we live in...EARTH? Nobody gets to be left alone.

  • I love this song makes me have hope and hope is a good thing perhaps one of the greatest things in life :)

  • I love thing . Makes me want to love even the nastiest people and not mind it :)

  • @Bladerunner55217 It does that to me too.

  • @Bladerunner55217 "Makes me want to love even the nastiest people and not mind it " - you nailed it. That's how I first heard it a year back. But time goes on and I'm losing it, losing my way there, getting further away from this precious feeling. All that I do is wrong, but I can't get back...

  • damn i cant believe that this film actually made me cry, loved it though, they just dont make movies like that any more

  • some of warmovies that havent "flashed" me with explosions and bang bang u know... like that song very much... - thanx for upload1

  • Yeah i support that info heads up of yours, youtube aint the place really for "forum fights" on issues like "mines bigger then yours". Cant stand having fights like that myself. For this movie, sure ive had friend telling me they thought it was boring etc. Well, then you obviously dont like movies that force you to think abit more then wam-bam action. Thin Red Line is a masterpiece, and thank you for posting this theme, havent heared it "single-wise" until now :)

  • Eye wateringly powerful film.

  • I haven't seen the movie, but I feel as though I love it already.

  • This song wants to make me sail away to an uninhabbited pacific island with only natives with me. We would be singing and dancing and living simple lives. Not caring for anything but ourselves and out beutiful island. This is where happiness lies. This is where the people and nature can be one.

  • Maybe all men got one big soul everyone's a part of, all faces of the same man...

  • "Kandemangs", thank you so very much for the translation of this strikingly beautiful song.

  • Absolutely An Amazing Movie, If you haven't seen it, GO OUT AND BUY IT.

  • Absolutely An Amazing Movie, if u havent seen this,,, go buy itttt!!!!!!!!!!

  • In which language are they singing?

  • @Fragment87 As far as I know it's the pidgin language of the Solomon Islands, called Pijin. It's basically a mix of English and the local dialects that acts as the lingua franca for the region.

  • shockingly moving ! Believe it or not, Thin Red Line has changed my life for the better! It made me realize that life is short and precious and we have to enjoy it as much as we can, in peace. And i cried like a baby when Witt died at the end!!

  • I'm not in any way religious, but this song, and this movie, are both fuckin superb.

  • I just wish the song was longer.

  • great movie great song

  • just goes to show you if you look hard enough on you tube you can find moses and the burning bush, I want to wake up to this everymorning just yell it in the shower

  • just goes to show you if you look hard enough on you tube you can find moses and the burning bush, thumbs up for tribal christan music

  • 16 havent got soul

  • Finally I've foun the song!!! Amazing!

  • this track touches my heart in a special way....

  • When I was 12 I thought "Saving Private Ryan" was great and "The Thin Red Line" was boring, Now I'm older and the two have switched places.

  • @Cha4k Deep words.

  • @Cha4k exactly with me lol more older and mature now.

  • @Cha4k god damn right

  • @Cha4k Exactly, you need to get older to understand it more and more, same for me being only 27 now. Malick's movies get richer and richer the more you think about life and understand!

  • @Cha4k agree

  • @Cha4k

Finally someone who has had the same revelation as me. I thought Thin Red Line was an awful movie when I first saw it. I watched it once: It was a boring war movie. I saw it a second time: It was a deep character study. I saw it a third time: It became a deep, beautiful, moving, philosophical meditation on what it is to be a human on planet earth and our relation to the natural world.

  • @Cha4k You are so right, I also fell for all the blood and action and heroism, I saw Thin Red Line earlier than SPR. I was young and got bored of all the talks and ideological stuff. Now I alsso have understood the real picture of the movie.

  • @Cha4k Ditto.

  • @Cha4k you said it man wow same story.. amazing this movie brings tears to my eyes.

  • "I seen another world...

Sometimes I think it was just my imagination"

    :')

  • I can`t bealive you guys broth politics in to this excelent movie.I hade to watch it 2 times to realise is a psychological movie about the 2 main feeling of the human being in contrast:love(relation) and hate(war). Is not about war and politics.

  • Monumental Film.

  • Superbe music

  • For those who want the song, just convert this video to MP3 via Keep Vid. Pretty easy! :D

  • essa musica da vontade de ficar numa ilha, sozinho e ouvi-la para sempre.

  • can someone make a track of this playing continuously for 20 minutes?

    KTHX

  • @BHSBaseball9014 its actually quite easy, since they have the claping as the only beat, and the way they sing. Could easily do an neverending "loop" on it :)

  • @BHSBaseball9014

    youtube(repeat)dotcom/watch?v=-a2jugsYQXM

get rid of the parenthasis and replace the dot with .

    loops the video. :D

  • @BHSBaseball9014 How about an entire lifetime?

  • @BHSBaseball9014 go to tubereplay (dot) com and put in the link, it will play forever:)

  • @Scede

wow thank YOU SIR!!! I wish i found this earlier!

  • TRL is a masterpiece. I've watched it more times than I can remember. Each time it hits me harder than before. I heard both sadness and happiness in the music. I felt only pain from the movie.

  • i feel the exact same way about thin red line

i cant pinpoint it .. something makes it above all the rest

  • I don't understand the last scene of the film when the some plant is in the water.I know that simbolize something but i don't know what. But the fact is, the "Thin Red Line" is one of the bet war movies.........:D

  • MandaNS93, I think it's: loneliness ( 1 plant in all the water) , futility, almost "drowning"=death, similar to Witt's Grave, the helmet up on the gun

  • @MandaNS93 I think the plant is the nature who go on with harmony despite the humans events...

  • @MandaNS93 It’s up to you to decide what it means for you. For me it means Rebirth. The generosity of nature. Even where the land contends with the sea.

  • I watched this film for what must have been the hundredth time last night - love it.

    Thanks for posting.

  • after watching the thin red line, only a few other movies seem worth watching. everything else seems really dull and shallow. specially the other war movies out there.

I'm not trying to criticize the other movies, it's just that there is something really special about this one, it makes me wanna say it's my favourite movie ever.

  • @DaveTheSodaGuy0 I feel the same way. Malick isn't just a filmmaker, he's a poet, and "The Thin Red Line" is one of the most profound and sadly beautiful movies I've ever seen. Sometimes I think it's my favorite movie, and sometimes not, but it's always in my top 5, and every time I watch it, I'm moved.

  • private witt was a religious leader in his own right.

  • I'm crying!

  • this movie is more that an warmovie, there are so much philosophy in there ...and if u listen careful...you will hear the sound of happiness :)

  • i seen perfection!

    there was no skin colour!

  • music absolumen subblime :)

  • that awesome

  • l'un des plus films que j'ai pu voir! et toutes les musiques sont superbes!

  • amazing ! =)

  • film et chants extraordinaires qui remuent les tripes...

  • this song was probably the only thing i got out of the movie. Everything else (apart from the cinematography, which was excellent as expected) was... kinda empty.

  • @taltom10 you should to watch more movies like this, then. someone wise once said "what is essential is invisible to the eye".

  • @taltom10 in order to understand it youd have to have been in battle to really grasp it. it should have swept the Acaemy Awards. the reason it didnt? the message was unable to be grasped by people who havent seen war.

  • @Tommy1977777 That, and it was up against Saving Private Ryan at the time, which was the more popular and sensational war movie of that year.

  • thank amn

  • In this world, a man himself is nothing. And there ain't no world, but this one

  • DAMN NATURE - YOU BEAUTIFUL.

  • Just wonderful, I love this music .Koskela 1941

  • There is only one word for this = wonderful. Koskela 1941

  • peace!!

  • I remember the first time I heard this song in the movie... it was exactrly 11 months ago. It played in my head for several days. It did seem like a different world. "I seen another world'. I'm happy to learn this song had a similar effect on many others.

  • always picks me up, when I'm down...

  • epic!

  • You would hope that people understand "No copyright infringements intended" but greed seems to get the better of us. Glad to see 'er up, such an amazing song.

  • so hopeful

  • the sounds godly, its one minute thirty eight seconds of pure hope

  • to me this song shows a lot of hope

  • This song makes me cry every time... the movie was so sad... and you want him to survive, but he doesn't. Then this song plays and it makes you cry.

  • Thank you for loading this. I just watched the film - I can't believe I waited this long to watch such a masterpiece. I also can't believe the film did not win the Oscar for Best Score, because based even on this track alone, no music has moved me this much.

  • the greatest war movie ever.

  • gosh the song sounds peacefull......who wouldnt like it

  • its jesus :)

  • How composed this song? The people from the island? Holy shit, they have more musical knowledge than most composers out there.

  • This movie is beautiful.
