  • @panfishmaster i catch bass through the ice in WI all winter long. all you have to do is in the summer find deep wood structure and put your tip-ups or dead stick above it with a live minnow or shinner.

  • I live on a like that is 100% private and in the fall my lake is covered in lily pads. Any suggestions on how to fish that?

  • ok so i live here in northern alabama its mid summer and i fish on side of the river and im only 13 so i cant afford a boat and no one in my family realy likes to fish but me so i dont go a whole lot but when i do i cant catch anything i have tried and tried if im not fishing im on youtube researching and i have spent all my money on bait i have tried crankbaits spinnerbaits poppers soft plastics everything you could think of and cant figure out why im not catching nothing ...any tips?

  • @mcclellandalton smaller baits get more bites Try fishing a 3 inch senko and go fishing VERY EARLY in the morning. The bass bite better early or just as it is getting dark in the afternoon. start out catching any bass you can to figure out your fishing place. You can move to bigger lures after to start catching a bunch of bass. Try fishing shade mid-day like under docks or next to tree trunks of downed trees or logs. Look for a used pontoon boat. It is a 1 person row boat! Good luck! Roger

  • hey man i love your vids i watch all of them you definetly give some of the best information and tips please subscribe im still just now geting started with the youtube thing

  • great video... i live near many mother load lakes here in california and they are all fished heavy with the best stuff on the market.. but we got big fish here! great tips .. keep it up!

  • Have you ever fished Missouri? If you have what is the best lake you have been to?

  • @37elliott Nope never fished there.

    Roger

  • @panfishmaster It is posible but not likely.

    Roger

  • i wanna fish with this guy

  • its early fall and my lake is little low wat baits should i be using i dont have a boat but my dock gos out to abouts 10ft wen its low wat do i do

  • @chocotaco34 I would fish senkos, crank baits and jigs.

    Roger

  • what if you see shad on the surface, the bass are busting the surface hitting them but you cant cast to them, its a pond/small lake, cant have a boat in it. but there are some pigs in this pond, shad seem to be out in the middle of the lake, bass below.

overcast sky, caught 2, both on a crankbait 12" max, any suggestions. time of year early fall, leafs changing, 66 d air temp. do i have to be below/above the schools to get bite this time of year?

  • @s4il If you cant reach them with a cast you can't catch them. BUT you can get longer casts with a little heavier lure and lighter line. Try a bigger topwater lure or even a castmaster. You can cast a long ways now. Some times the schools move near shore be ready to take advantage of that time! if not fish for bass in the shallows. The bass will be there too.

  • Exbass, I am a novice bass angler. Have you fished in MN? Will the same colors as mentioned below work?

  • @cvang234 The colors i listed will work very well for you! REAMWMBER TO FISH REAL EARLY too!

    Roger

  • @cvang234 Yes they work every place. As a rule clear water use plastic you can see light thru and murky water use dark colors or bright colors. Low light, I love white plastic lures. Good luck!

    Roger

  • roger, do you like to fish drop shot during fall? or more crank and spinnerbait?

  • @rancidruss Good question! Yes but I do best in late fall as the bass start to move to deeper water. When they like slower moving baits. I also love the drop shot in th spring!

    Roger

  • nice tips

but wat colors would work good for fall?

  • It's good to stick with natual colores with soft plastics, Like browns and greens to start. But also take water color in to you consideration too. If clear start with browns and greens. If off colored try dark colors or bight colors and see what color the bass like best. For crank baits chartruce or crawdad colors work good. But this is just a start then you adjust to the conditions and change, Color is not as big a factor as placing the lure is a good spot quietly.

    Thanks for asking!

    Roger

  • is there an advantage to the octupus hooks over other types for drop shot other than price?

  • with an exposed hook it really does not matter much so I go for price. BUT I always look for light wire hooks for better hook ups!!!!!!! If the hook is a great deal but the hook is thick I will pass it by in faver of a thinner hook that cost more!!!!

Great questions. Think of it this way: I have a hook tied to my line on my rod and you are holding the hook in your hand. If I tug on the line will you care what shape the hook is? NO! exposed hooks all work about the same. :-) Roger

  • in a previous video you were using the gamigatsu no.4 octupus hook, is that still your preference? what about the drop shot/split shot hook gamigatsu makes or owners mosquito hook.

  • I get the octupus hooks and they are VERY cheap! cost is a factor.

    Roger

  • you said dec 5 on the video and you posted the video on dec 4, so is this from last year? jw, but is it really still that warm in socal??? wow

  • no its like 51 degrees and it rained yesterday

  • fishing pressure is one stressor on a system....but any change in weather, water level will all degrade fishing. In socal the lakes are deep and clear, and get fished by alot of well equiped people employing all the techniques. SOcal also has some of the largest fish in california.

  • hahaa clear lakes in so cal ...lol u wish... only dvl is clear ..the rest are staind or fucking dark

  • What do you mean by the water is pressured?

  • exbassguide will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe "pressured" means a body of water is popular and gets fished a lot, so the fish may be wary and or wise.

  • @wasp90 maskes sense... I was thinking barometric pressure

  • Thank you for the question. I am talking about barometric pressure. Bass are affected by barometric pressure and that is part of the reason bass can shut down during wild weather swings.

  • @exbassguide Thanks for the reply

  • to many people fishing at one time ....over fishing...when the bite is good that kind of crap.....if u ever fish corona lake before....for example thats pressure

  • 70 degrees in December?? No fair. catch a lunker for me!

  • Nice haven't seen much of you lately.
