  • Thanks for the video m8.

  • Your office is a closet?

  • Can you do this underwater?

  • If I keep this fire starter in my pocket, and I run real fast, will it ignite my balls?

  • I was gonna try this to light a candle on my glass desk, i ended up with irremovable marks from molten glass in my desk as result of the 3000 degree celsius sparks. the worst thing is i didnt even manage to light the candle.

  • Nice

  • Utterly useless without good tinder... If you're in the dessert EASY. In Washington state or Alaska etc... very difficult (but not impossible)

  • @admx94 I havnt had any problems with it so far. I camp up by Mount Rainier.

  • Bush whackin goodness!! XD

  • THANKS A LOT FOR THIS USEFULL INFO

  • misleading title......

  • peace

  • hi there

i got a cheap chinese firesteel and it works great

doesent matter if its swedish or not because i got it for 4 USD

but the packaging is just a plastic bag wich is really uninteresting

and when chinese manufacture things they have no logo or any type of identification for the manufacturer so these are the down points

but it works great and i am happy with it .

    thanks for posting

but in the future i guess i will invest in a swedish army firesteel .

  • dam ads!!

  • Swedish Army FireSteel Firestarter Causes Office Fire

fuck u and ur lame title sucker:)

  • I recommend carrying three methods of making a fire, it is that important :-)

  • your on google

  • did youknow your on google

  • light my fires suck but everybody has them and i have no clue why

  • @paintballhead03 Wheres the best FireSteel @?

  • @Austin07Filfred ~~~gobspark~~~ look at it on amazon.com and they have there awsome website to

  • @paintballhead03 Thanks

  • how fast does the rod wear off?

  • i just got one today :)

  • Light MY Fire sounds like a bad condom brand or some fishy thaiwanese viagra.

  • Do you think this item will light pubic hair? I was also wanting to know if this item can be stored in your anus? I like so save space in my backpack by any means necessary!

  • @Tegulicious lol, your really dedicated. to what im not sure

  • @joeratti Just use your imagination!

  • @Tegulicious Surely there are far better (and less obstructive) methods of lighting your farts at a moments notice?

  • @fulaingt lighting my farts wasn't my initial intention, I was going to use my pubic hair as tender. But if I'm going to light my pubic hair I might as well do the taint to. Thanks for your concern regarding this matter, but I think I can take it from here!

  • "...and the last thing I want to do is set me self on fire..." lol

  • lol,,,pleb,,

  • thanks my friend good video

  • your not a survivalist are you sarcasam,

  • i just got mine today it was a birthday present of my friend its so good it has 12,000 uses mine doesnt have the jagged edge the guy who got me this he has one with a jagged edge i prefer the flat edge

  • That type is very expensive, though!

  • There's an easier way to get fire! If you want something that floats, is windproof and lightweight, get Instafire. They now have matches that are windproof, light while wet and stay lit even when dipped in a river! Check out their website. Instafire com

  • True. There ARE differences in quality!

  • how many spark can you do?

  • watch my vid on how to pimp your lighters flame (worth your time)

  • My feeling is a good rod from firesteelcom is all you need. Much less expense, bigger sparks too. I've used these for years with no problems

  • Its's a hell of alot easier to do it with a knife!

  • O... OK? .... that's the last straw.

  • where did u get ure swedish fire steel- wuts the store name- u think i can get one from like a walmart or maybe a gun shop.

  • @pakininja296 dude it's called google. just do some research man.

  • now...is it possible to make that into a flint bomb kinda thing?

  • yeah, a guy on youtube deos that. Search up flint bomb

  • oh shit, thanks man

  • yes set your self on fire please

  • lol i have scout firesteel (swedish) and soon am gonna have and army firesteel. This things are mega cool !! u can make a lot of fires

  • your delightfully insane! :D my kind of guy :P

  • I got the small green one and I cant seem to start a fire.. I guess I need more practice

  • Burning the office, that would be great, no more problems!

  • @vassilischr I read it once and laughed my ass off. Then I read it again and laughed even harder...it's so true!

  • how long does it last

  • Does it come with that SWEET shirt?!

  • NICE where u get it from

  • you can get it at army stores or outdoor stores you know the type^^

  • How do you set fire to wet wood sticks? Or is it just another Swedish product :)

  • if you can only find wet wood i would strip the bark and the first few layers of the wood because if the wood is ded it should be dry in the middle if it isnt dead then i wouldnt rfecommend using it as it creates alot of smoke hope this helps =D

  • hey, do you guys have any idea how is it with airplane policy? Is it ok to take this thing in my pocket on the plane?

  • An Alert TSA officer will snatch that away from you in a heartbeat. No lighters or items that can create a spark. If you want to take your zippo with you it must be "dry" of fuel, and in a air tight case. Zippo does make a case for traveling that is NTSB approved.

  • i wouldnt risk it.

  • is he using the wrong part of the striker?

is he supposed to use the end

  • Where did you purchase this FireSteel? Online or at a store. And do you know whether they are available at stores like Walmart or Target or Sports Authority or something like that? Thanks and nice video by the way.

  • how do you store it

  • What sort of question is that lol?

  • did he die?

  • SWEDEN ROOLLLSS THE NATION

  • lol, sweden rules sweden? go figure ;)

    never saw that one comin'

  • bög varning på qwertywoods LOL

  • yeah! we in sweden rock at this shit!

  • How do i take the paint off, - and do you have to take the paint off?

  • you use the metal thing to scrape the paint off...its really easy...under the paint the firesteel has a silverish/metallic/shiny appearance...

  • 3000C spark.

can it light a candle or a tooth pic directly?

  • No you need nice dry kindling such as sawdust, dry moss, paper, leaves........these things light quickly.

    Candle wicks arnt flamable enough

  • Thats why you use kindling in the outdoors......this is not designed for use inside lol

  • Considering its not designed for indoor use though.......its designed as a survival aid

  • You don't go outside a lot do you maximilliano? Clearly not, it's meant to start campfires, not light candles. Don't be stupid.

  • Just got mine in the mail today. I tried it out and it works very well. Goes in the travel kit.

  • and why did your bss not fire you for making fire in the office???

  • i got two pieces on e-bay at USD14.99 a pieces...its excellent...

  • cool vid

  • you *don't push* the knife - you *pull* the fire steel. you don't want to push your tinder away by accident!

  • or hold the firesteel still in one hand, put youre thumb behind the knife and twist the knife, the steel doesnt move, your knife stays well away from the tinder and its pretty easy to do.

  • It's veneer, not paint.

yea, i know, big whoop. nice vid though.

  • do these have unlimited usage or does the material wear out over time?

  • 12,000 strikes - nxt 2 unlimited

  • is the steel hollow or not?

  • got one, doesn't seem like it is.

  • where is the shop where you buy it from?

  • You can buy t online or at a camping supplies store. I got mine at the Kittery trading post n Maine. Go to like Eastern Mountain Sports or something.

  • the title is called swedish army firesteel firestarter causes office fire but there is no office fire.............?

  • thats fenominal....i think i spelt tthat right didnt i ?

  • yes that would be hilarious if you set the room alight..no only joking nice video

    thanks doc

  • if you're in the field where everything is wet or snow ... Not providing for nothing!

  • dude your striking it rong u need to strike it with the dip in between handle and the wriggly things

  • u're right

  • How big is the sweedish army firesteel?

  • there are 3 sizes:

    mini - 1500 strikes

    scout - 3000 strikes

    army - 12000 strikes

this one in the video is the army size, google or search in youtube to see the sizes of the others 2

  • Thats what she said

  • screw you

  • 5star just for the "set myself on fire" comment

  • yes it would be halirious

  • I had one, there great, altough it's abit hard to find the right tinder, considering you cant use paper, tumble dryer lint is great.

Dont waste the sparks though i snappped mine

Also it's great fun spraying deoderant on a tree and striking this onto it.

  • you are not supposed to "strike" the fire steel as you are. you are supposed to apply pressure and "push" the sparks into the tinder, not hack at it like the first caveman to bang two rocks together. pushing the sparks into the tinder (as it says to do on the back of the lightmyfire packaging that you show...) will light a cotton ball in one motion.

  • lighting a peice of cotton on fire while its sitting on a peice of cardboard resting on your lap?

    ...ooook....

  • Great video Doc! I also enjoyed your humor!

  • Can you please post a link for the exact same fire steel you're using? That one looks fat. :o) Mine is a large but yours still looks bigger.

  • Quick, someone make a "That's what she said" remark.

  • hey what stores can you get this please reply!

  • for sum reason i cant get any fire started what so ever.

  • Practice makes perfect. grind down into it and be semi-roughly heavy handed. Roll your wrist out and flip up just a bit too, with a slight angle. Sparks will spit out all over the place and make sure you have all the tinder and wood near by too. :o)

  • great video

  • I am doing my military service here in the north of sweden, and i must say that the firesteel was, and is one of my best investments ever, during basic training in the winter it was a real life saver, used it to cock and prepare my meals in the field, and light fires in the tent to keep warm. everybody else used matches, and damn.. it took me 3 secs to light a fire to start cocking, everybody else tryed with cold hands and under timepressure to light matches, not so easy i might add;)

  • I found that the best edge to strike the firesteel is the back of a knife, but it has to be sharp.

  • Just bought that particular firesteel today. Works great just as shown in the video.

  • Give me a link please, I want one! :o)

  • go to google

  • Uh, go to google and do what? Yeah, I can google swedish firesteel, but I already have one as I mentioned already. I would like to know exactly what kind of firesteel he has (like what website he got that specific one from).

Googling it is a no brainer, but I need to know exactly what kind he has.

  • does this last forever?

  • Go to school..

If you did you´d know that nothing lasts forever.

  • if you did go to school you would know what i meant by forever for your info is does it last for a long time! next time before you be a smart ass use your common sense dumb ass.

  • They last 120,000 strikes...so unless you live to be a gazilion you'll be good buying 1

  • tnx alot see thats the proper answer that im looking for not like this dumb ass answered in a stupid way.

  • The Army Model -- Lasts approximately 12,000 strikes.

    An Army FireSteel® costs £13.00

    With oak handle £14.00

The Scout Model -- Lasts approximately 3,000 strikes.

    A Scout FireSteel® costs £8.00

Found that on their site, so no, they don't last 120,000 strikes.

  • good video. I'm buying this one now cause I'm from Sweden.. :P

  • ..the striker that comes with the "light my fire" firesteel looks cool, but i feel its crap..Hacksaw blade allows ye to rub down slowly and produce lots more sparks..!!

    ..check my video and see!!

  • it wears it away tho alot quicker

  • ..no doubts there..in fact it cuts the ammount of strikes in half, but wayy more sparks means fire starts with less effort..

  • That a good point.

  • You got that right, but I prefer an old penknife to a hacksaw blade.

  • Thanks for checking out my video.

Just want to point out that:

1/The Light my Fire Striker also has a Serrated Edge.

2/ I saw you video, it took you 12 strikes to get flames. I did it in 6. Nuff said.

  • ..absolutely no offense intended but there is a huge difference between igniting cotton fibers and the feather stick i carved..also i was using the mini version which wore out after about 8 fires using the hacksaw, i perfer the army model yer using..

  • go sweden

  • 5,500

  • seriously, does it matter?

  • I think you'll find its 5498.73921

    actually

  • YOu dont have to bother scraping the paint of all the way just use it like normal and in 1-2strikes the paint goes away. If you remove all the paint you leave it open to oxidisation (rust)

  • Try using the serrated part of the striker you pleb as you so rightly described yourself!!

  • Thanks for your wonderful advice and astute ways.

Mental note: Use Pointy bit next time.

Phew, What would I do without you?

  • Not to get itvolved, but he did say 'serated'. And why do you need to scrape the paint off?

  • Ahahaha, Doc, that had to be the best reply to someone's dickish to the max comment.

"use the serrated part", humm, that, or the part he used to start the fire with....chav.

    =D

Thx for the review video Doc. Me and my brothers go camping a lot where we live (NW WA State) and make camp fires around our house cooking hot dogs and bratwurst in the summer time, and this firesteel looks to be great fun, and a handy survival tool.

  • cool

  • Yes, it kinda would. :P
