  • This kinda reminds me of the "big lick" Walking Horse show scene.

  • What the hell is up with these dogs walking on the flat of their hocks and jumping their front ends up in a reverse bunny hop movement? What's with the hackneying? And above all what the F**K is the deal with the jelly legs? This is pure and simple deformity and disability. What kind of moron finds this beautiful?

  • That was a BAD video. Are these American bred GSD?

I like to see a dog gaiting loose lead, not strung up and held back- that would make even a sound dog appear restricted and you could see dragging in the rear. I saw a few things wrong with the dogs, for different reasons. I'd love to see a video of proper, sound, functional GSD movement.

  • I have always disliked the slope back GSD breeders. I have never seen a slope back move in slow motion. This is even more horrible than I thought. Do these show breeder idiots even know what they have done? Do they care?

  • Poor GSD =( he should not be breed to have problems with others...

  • Blame the judges, they pick this type of dog.

  • Beauty before health. When I watch dog shows I care only about the aesthetic qualities, not how healthy they are or how long they will live.

  • Dogs were not meant to walk on their hocks. They were meant to walk on their FEET. I find it horrifying that some people actually think this is "beautiful movement" and that these are "excellent specimens" - they're disfigured and disabled dogs who can barely walk. The German Shepherd is a working dog, and no working dog should be purposely bred to have a disfiguring spinal shape that prevents it from walking normally! These dogs will develop severe joint problems from that twisting movement...

  • go to royal air dogs rule and see a real GSD that doesnt look like that

  • God some of these dogs are so bad, they've actually lost the ability to hold a regular gate... Well done, your prize show dogs are crippled to the point of not even being able to walk straight. I hope these people are proud of what they have reduced these animals to.

  • i think this is disgusting the dogs are crippled what are the breeders thinking of, all breeders who do this to such a gawgus breed should be done for cruelty , u can see the poor animal dragging its paws as it trys to walk , and its back looks so weak it swings its legs out to one side just to extend the leg

  • this is discusting , that poor dog is crippled , the breeders should be done for cruelty

  • These Breeders are destroying the german shepherd breed . i wouldent mind geting a hammer and fuking up the breeders legs.Lets see how they lik it

  • its so sad beacuse theyre beautiful dogs, and make very good companions.

  • i could cry when i see that this poor dog is walking on its legs

  • The only good dog show was that movie, the mockumentary "Best in Show".

  • вообще-то это еще щенки, у них у всех в этом возрасте слабые связки.

  • @angelmayster

  • I thought they r supposed to walk on There paws not there hocks

  • I had a German Shepherd and her hips got real real bad towards the end. I really hope they do something about this and make them healthy again.

So many nice balls shots, too bad the dogs are bred to be so unhealthy.

  • its sick that people would do this to suc a great breed

  • This is very sad. Why are these dogs bread like this? It seems very cruel to me.

  • These modern show dogs are a far cry from their working purpose, which is the TRUE beauty of the different breeds of dogs. These show breeders think they're guardians and preserving the breed, but what they are doing is destroying it.

    I wouldn't buy a GSD from a show breeder.

  • Animal cruelty....the legs are like jello

  • The GSD I know could jump a 6ft wall, can run for 60miles non stop and never put there tail between their legs because there's a judge next to them...

There are still good breeders but don't expect good show bloodlines. Obedience trials, protection and schutzhund, tracking ... these are what makes a working dog!

  • Stupid, why did people stop breading for purpose and begin for vanity, what about how the dog feels. how badly do people wana win at something that they would destroy a breed and casue early hip displacia and most likely early death, tell me, why are people doing this, whats the point give me a good reason.

  • This is how my german sheppard would walk if it had back or leg pains. Thus to me this is not a result from breeding but from mistreatment and abuse. This should not be allowed. I will be appaled now when I see someone with a dog like that now I know this type if thing is done voluntaraly.

The reason why these people call them show dogs is because of their deformation they have become useless in the field.

  • What a shame, and it's amazing that I have people ridicule me for breeding GSD that are straight backed and health tested. Sad.

  • :(((

  • A super breed of dog ruined by the show fraturnity ! ruined by money, ruined by know it alls ! Im disgusted to think that that is a good example ! now they want to change back, the kennel club has alot to answer.....even the man at the top has been caught out breeding border terriers back to there own mothers.....theres no words for these people...cretins

  • DAMN CUNT

  • Wow. Deliberately breeding dogs that are that weak in the hind legs should be considered abuse. A friend of mine has a Dutch Shepherd (similar to the old style German Shepherd only brindle) and he is a lovely creature-and his hind legs are the right length for his body. I find it baffling that anyone with half a brain could consider these dogs beautiful or in line with the breed standard.

  • The breeders consider these dogs to be "show quality" to me its more like poor quality. Its all because the breeders bred the dogs to have to backs.Totally ungrateful to von stephanitz.such poor breeding lines compared to the original working GSD.

  • عربي انا سعودي انا خخخخ

    استغفر الله العلي العظيم

  • Fy faan e det enda ja kan få ur mun =(...

  • Poor things. He looks extremely uncomfortable D8

  • I can't say I've ever seen one of these "show quality" German Shepherds in real life before. It's getting to the point where there's a big difference between your dog at home and what you see in the ring. And frankly, that's a good thing.

  • what is this? Special oylympics of German Shepherd?

  • KC UK have put restrictions on this angle now. they have also put restrictions on inbreeding. I saw an absolute beauty of a shepherd the other day, a slight angle, beautiful hocks and standing extremely steady. perfect example, not this.

  • this is sad sad sad. I own two GSD dogs. It is incredible what AKC has allowed breeders to do.

  • @Foxacura1 AKC is just a Register. They have no authority over breeds or quality. It is a shame that people when people do not breed to improve the standard but for the money.

  • Legalised mutilation! The result of years of (so called/self proclaimed) expert breeding! 10 years from now they will be having to wheel the dog's round the ring.

  • =( thats sad

  • @teddybear4422 oh, because, in some clips, you see how they look hunched? and there hind legs look all messed up, its from bad breeding. the dogs cant walk properly and they have to walk uncomfortabley for there lifetime. :( the dogs are suffering and they are bred like that for show

  • @sugarismyhorse well it cuz there backs

  • This is sooooo sooooo sad and breaks my heart to see this. Humans are the most horrible creatures that walk this planet. We are soooo full of greed that this is the result of it.

  • This dog is a cripple. How could ANYONE not see that? This makes my stomach hurt, especially since I saw it coming years ago when some stupid show breeder made fun of my then OH's working GSDs. It reminds me of how quarter horse breeders have bred the feet off that breed. Heartrending and sad.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL at the jumping GSD.

  • 1:56,that poor dog is literally standing on its hocks!

  • These dogs are beautiful, but those arched backs have really put a strain on these poor animals' hips.We should have kept their backs the same way Von Stephanitz bred them.

  • Its pretty sad when people think that dogs who drag their hind legs like this are a good examples of the breed : (

  • god i feel sorry for those shepherds. its like watching a kangaroos back legs. they walk on their hind legs the way a human uses there feet. dogs and cats walk on their toes, these dogs walk on their heels....

  • OMG!! I have seen footage like this before and to see it in slow motion makes me even more upset, I didn't get past watching 2 mins of it. I have a lovely GSD which I adopted and she looks like they should look, strong hind legs, straight back etc etc. How long are they going to let this carry on for!!!! I'm shaking my head in dismay once again.

  • @ 1:05 the dog is actually walking on his ankle/hock area. Utterly shocking.

  • @EmmaEmma888 i know right?! I'm shocked by what some breeders do to this dog.

  • I'd just like to point out that this footage is not from this year's show. If you look carefully there is lots of 'Pedigree' branding in the background and they are no longer involved with Crufts. However it does show the mountain that these very reluctant breeders have to climb. You can lead a horse to water....

  • How can you complain about the cruelty to this breed ?? I am appauled by this breeder.

  • I find it very funny how you all take the kennel clubs word for gospel.

There a monopoly, you think they give the smallest shit about an animals heath? There happy to let "accredited breeders" breed brother to sister puppies with absolutely no penalty, in fact they welcome it as long as they get there £12 registration fee.

  • The dog can't even walk properly. It's disgusting, and I thought the KC had advised judges not to give wins to this type of dog and put the health and fitness of the dog first.

  • Absolutely appalling! The reason these dogs get moved at such speed normally is to hide all the defects. Slow it down and you can see the cow hocks, weak pasterns...and that's just for starters. The breeders should be prosecuted and fined heavily.

  • Ring Number 15641 - How on earth did this poor dog ever qualify for Crufts!!??! He looks like a youngster. God knows how much pain he will be in before long!!

  • It makes me want to weep at what they have done to what used to be a beautiful breed.

  • Parade of mutants, utterly disgraceful . These breeders should be prosecuted for cruelty!

  • These poor poor GSD's. Who in their right mind would breed them with backs and hips like that?!! It's disgraceful that they were ever allowed to get this bad. I think you can see actually how terrible it is at 2min 48. Thanks for putting the video on and highlighting such a huge problem in GSD breeding.
