I've always like James some, but maybe he could learn some musical forms so that the pieces weren't just dressed up solo wankings. That sorta goes for most everyone. Hell, my old pieces used basic repetition form, but are far more harmonically and rhythmically interesting.
I've met James a few years back and i seen no ego. One of the coolest guys i ever met. He took me and my lady on Testaments tour bus for about 2 hours cause we couldn't get into the club. A couple members of Testament were even gonna fuck with this fan who was freaking out and he wouldnt' have it. Long story, i just know he was a badass dude

His band Disincarnate is one of the finest Death metal albums i have ever heard and his own material also, its a shame his love affair in Death was cut short but i honestly think as a guitar soloist Chuck could not live with him and maybe just maybe thats why he had to go! Spritual healing is Death's finest hour of which Mr Murphy Fucking shines!
i know why he is overlooked? because the word has it that he's a total asshole. I heard it started with his former band called disincarnate.They say his ego weakens bands because he always wants full control(his way or the highway).

Nah, from what I've read and my brother tells me after his own looking into it... James had either a brain tumor or something similar. A lot of people including his family and friends thought he was on drugs, until he almost died. So the rumors spread from his personality changes... but it's been fixed and he's back...
@Gu1tarShr3dd3r his stuff is hard to find, i had this CD when it came out, and for the last couple of years I've been tryin to find it or atleast stuff off of it,,,I didnt know much of him either untill he did some work with Testament for a bit, As Chuck Billy did a "couple vocal tracks on this cd, and another guest musician was the EVER so great and sadly missed "Dimebag Daryll Abbot "
