  • wow! i want to go to Niagara Falls! the words were a little blurry though!

  • It is amazing how much you miss if you live here. I spent the first 12 years of my life here, swam in Dufferin Islands, and my father played a part in the design of the first Maid of the Mist ever used. I miss my home and whenever I visit via internet I get homesick. Thanks for this Video, it really took me back and provided excitement that I took for granted as a child.

  • I have been there!

  • I HAVE BEEN HERE!!!. I WALKED WHERE U WALKED!!!

  • I live close by Niagara Falls & during the late 70's when I visited, the gates were much closer to the edge of the portal. If you stuck your arm out, you could actually feel the water on your hands. In this video, you can see where the gates were bolted into the wall of the tunnel. I was disappointed a few years ago when I went again that the gates had been moved so far back.

  • <3 Accent...

  • Thank you

  • Where are all the comments about how disappointing the final shot of the wall of water really is? That would be my first reaction. I am glad I did the Maid of the Mist instead.

  • how can this be the canadian side arent both falls on ther american side unless ur talking abt the big 1 in between America and Canada

  • @ahmedraza1995

The biggest and best part of the falls, The Horse Shoe Falls is on the Canadian side.

  • How did they do that tunnel.. i wasamzed! :)

  • after a quarter million views, I'm sure I am repeating what many have said.

  • @travelandtransitions I read your page and we have a bit in common, I've traveled 19 countries, (backpacked 14 in Europe in '04). Traveling is awesome, although for some reason when I went in '04, I had a regular film camera, not digital and unfortunately had no way of recording vid. Now, I wish i did, some of the places i went to...boy oh boy :)

  • I went there 2 days ago and I love the first tunnel (not the cataract portals) it's very exciting and trust me, you get wet, but they give ponchos. I love it! It's amazing!!!

  • Great vid. Excellent commentary.

  • @travelandtransitions You're welcome, have a great day as well.

  • you would think there should be gates or something more than a 4 foot wall any nut job could take a dive .Geronimo!

  • thanx

  • How scary

  • Did they move those gates back more in the past 25 years? Maybe my memory is off but I thought we were at least a drop closer when I visited in 1986.

  • Wow, thanks for posting that. I have always wanted to visit Niagara Falls.

  • I never did get to do this, thanks for posting. Looks like those tunnels are quite a hike.

  • Thanks for posting this. I visited the falls when I was 5 with my family, but the thundering sound of the falls scared me to death and I would not go into the tunnel. I always wondered what I missed.

  • @shoefan1978: It's great to hear you liked the video. It's pretty loud in those tunnels, and when I was walking through they were pretty empty. It's great the video gave you a chance to see what you missed.

  • Also a SHIT SCARY Experience, what happens if you fall off or something?? that'd kinda creep me out a little but i'd still go down there to see it for myself....those falls are truly majestic...dangerous but majestic...

  • Some day I will find a way to get there. Sucks that table rock point is gone though

  • Niagra ... Viagra :D

  • i remember doing the tour when i was a kid. had a blast. nothing beats grabbing a hotel for a couple days and hitting up the casinos, marvel city, the great canadian midway, and doing the tours and the maid of the mist and unwinding like a kid again

  • that was a ton of fun last time I was there

  • brilliant video thank you

  • The force of that water would still kill you/ drown you while you are tangled up in that damn net lol lol

  • if u go to NF...go to the canadien side...NY sux...i live bout 20 minutes away from the falls....the narrator sounds canadien eh?

  • i live like10 minutes away, i beet you! lol jk

  • @livingherlife94 oh you lucky thing only living 10 mins away. i will be back in niagara in june, i cant wait :)

  • @spchalupa is it really that bad that sucks

  • This is so exhilarating!! I have been to Niagara numerous times but have never been into these tunnels. Are these tunnels only for those the casino hotel patrons? I don't see any other visitors roaming around the tunnel. Hopefully, the next time I going to the Casino.

  • No, i went there in may, I don't exactly remember but it has nothing to do with any casino.

  • I was there in October and can't wait to come back. What an amazing place!

  • Great video,

Thanks very much for posting it. My kids got a kick out of it. We would like to go there someday.

  • @rlthestig You have to go, it's simply amazing to watch them.

  • I live in Maine and we were thinking about loading up the convertible and driving there this up coming summer. I think it would be a great trip.

    Thanks again. Great video.

  • @rlthestig Oh wow! A convertible? Can I come along?? he he...

Now seriously, that would be a great trip, you are not that far. Have fun. :0)

  • trust me dude its a waist of time. ya the falls is great. goat island is the best point to look out at the falls it self but the city is dead and nothing but wana bee pussey ass wana bee gangsters and NIGGARS every where.

  • Okay gentleman, the original scenic tunnel was dug in the last century and you can see, if you are on the observation deck, the remains of that tunnel. Just before the observation platform you can see the old entrance way to your left. The tunnel had a series of wooden walkways as the surface was still quite rough as was the ceiling but later improvements led to the tunnels being finished and a permanent floor put in place.

  • Thank you for your great insider comments. Sounds like you know Niagara Falls and the scenic tunnels really well. Much appreciated.

  • Hey vanpat1987 you're the moron, it's dug not digged.

  • 5/5

  • Lol i wanted to go to this but, i live on the Canada side.

  • you can get to this from the Canadian side

  • the excavations behind the falls was not all that dangerous nor risky as the rock formations in the area are quite stable. The powerplant upstream from the falls saw a tunnel dug to the centre of the Horseshowe Falls which was the chute used to drain the water as the water passed through the turbines. I worked int he Scenic Tunnels as they were then called for a number of years while a student and later in the engineering department and was able to see the original tunnel.

  • The original tunnel is interesting to go through although going beyond the observation deck may get you in some trouble with the parks police! Earlier, before they had the new guard rail in place, you could get closer to the edge and see right behind the falls where a series of ledges would allow you to walk behind the falls themselves although the ever present algae on the rocks may make it somewhat risky. For some reason they moved the railing quite far back to its present location.

  • The elevators taking you down have been changes as well. When I worked there we had an old Otis elevator with only a screen in the doorway so you could see the sides of the shaft taking you down and it was hand operated meaning you had to stop the elevator on the way back up at the floor using a handle. Later they modified it after they stopped using boots and raincoats to have visitors exit on the floor where they sold souvenirs. Prior you received rubber boots and rain macs.

  • Later on I worked climbing up and down the gorge wall down to about 3-40 feet below the sidewalks keeping them clear of debris as the powerplant below was operating (which is now shut-the surge tanks and tunnels are up where the lights are which illuminate the falls at night and the old power distribution centre is where Casino Niagara now is located. Once we tied off our ropes and wearing our harness we waded out into the river just about 10 feet from the brink of the falls.

  • We did this prior to 8:00am as the control gates upstream were still closed, divering water to the reservoirs for power generation downstream at Queenston so the water was just up to my knee's at that time. Needless to say the Frontier Parks Police on the American side called our Parks Police who came racing over only to find myself and my partner having a brief wade in the river..ah, the follies of youth! By the way, the man did not go naked over the falls, the water pulled his clothes off.

  • can someone answer me this one question:

How did they even make that? Beacause they can''t exactly turn the falls off to build it ?

  • hey moron, you go from sides of the falls. they digged down on the side where ground is, and progressed towards fall !! use comon sense !!

  • @vanpat1987 yes but it is still quite dangerous knocking a massive hole into the side of the falls, and don't call me a moron it was just a question

  • yea everything is dangerous, building WTC, empire state building, tunnels... but they arent stupid, ofcourse there are some safty issues ...and its 30 meters under the fall, about 9 stories down...get it now?

  • @vanpat1987 i wasn't really concerned about the actualy building of the structure and tunnels i was more concerned about looking at 5:00 because if you got hit by the falls while building it, it would probs break bones because of the speed of the waves and the gravitity pulling it down

  • this isnt 19 century anymore, we have machines to do that. Must have been the rock breaker machine when it met the fall. They've built it inside out, not outside in.. !!

  • You mentioned Roger Woodward as the only person to go over the Falls without protection and survive.

Actually there are two more. In 2004 Kirk Jones tried to commit suicide by going over the Falls in just his clothes and a jacket and actually survived the ordeal and was rescued.

This past spring (2009) another man tried to commit suicide by going over the falls naked. He also survived and was rescued.

  • niagara falls in turkey

  • I love your videos, I enjoy watching them they are entertaining, educational, and make me relax. kepp up the good work.

  • wow. that's amazing.

  • that was an excellent tour behind the falls, i really enjoyed it, so, i post my video from the air, : )

  • i went there it was AMAZINGGGGG

  • famous visitors..... oh, Marilyn Monroe filming her movie "Niagra" and oh, JFK what a coincidence. lol

  • this is a good vid. i live in london and went to niagara falls a couple of years ago. we rode the maid of the mist, which was amazing, but we did not go behind the falls.

  • shut the fuck up

  • well they go threw hell calling a heli and like 30 fire trucks when someone has a failed sucide attempt so they should save them selves like 50% of the trouble because then the only way to kill youself would be threw the top

  • omg thats deadly

  • are there many tight spaces to walk through? im claustrophobic, but im thinking about going this weekend.... can you let me know?

    thanks for the vid

  • the whole journey behind the falls is that small its like that when you go to maid of the mist....its not that small when your in there

  • The video gives you a good idea of the width of the tunnels. It's okay for 1 or 2 people to walk beside, but I would imagine it gets rather tight when there are a lot of people. Have fun in Niagara Falls!

  • nope, cuz i went and the hallway can fit about 8 or 9 people across

  • Fabulous, thank you so much for filming and posting. Great stuff !

  • Thank you for the kind comments. There are so many interesting places and I love the opportunity to share them. The tunnels beneath the falls were really neat to see.

  • I've always wanted to go here! Thanks for posting. I just can't belive there's only a small gate, you would think they would have put up a full barred wall. I wonder how many people climb over that!

  • The most beautiful place in the world. I never get tired of visiting The Falls.

  • They have the fencing up so that people do not injure themselves by reaching out to touch the water. The force of the water can break a person's arm.

  • Way cool ! : )

  • Is it very noisey there? what temperature is the water? is the water clean?

( i am studing this for homework)

    (:

  • waaah your lucky you went there when there was only few people ! O: when i went i had to wait in a killer long line ):

  • I love this video. Who is filming and talking in the video? she´s got a sexy voice

  • very interesting. who´s filming this, and talking? I love her voice ;)

  • i gota thery to test next time i go

  • whats your theory i wanna hear it! plzzzzz

  • That if u throw a rock behind the falls it won't go threw when I go back I'll tape it

  • when ur under there its nice!! its roasting outside but when ur in there its sooo nice and cool!

  • looks like she went during the winter time in canada not very hot outside...

  • Ahhh! Romantic

  • i've been there

  • laaaaaaangweilig

  • Saw the falls. Very touristy. Very boring. Prefer Yosemite. More natural. Thank you.

  • They're both as natural as you can get.

  • I am so gonna see niagra falls one day.

Thanx for taking me one step further.

    You know what i mean.

  • Always wanted to see Niagra Falls. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed very much (smiles)!

  • stop reading the signs

  • ime shure some people have kayaked down that

  • in a free nation I should have the liberty to risk my life if I should so choose to hop the rail. matter of a fact they should allow people to ride over in a barrel daily.

  • Amazing - would love to go and see the Falls - looks wonderful.

  • ithey should put a fence instead of a rail then no 1 can "hop the gate/rail"

  • im going here in a few days:)

  • Wow!!! Niagara Falls. I love them.

  • live*

  • i life in the falls but in town so the falls is not exiting to me

  • no wonder u cant spell retard lmao...
