The FACT is, we have effective protection because of government regulations not because they want to punish businesses. The government wants businesses to prosper, but not at the expense of putting innocent people at risk. i.e. environmental pollution, financial fraud, the food buy, etc.

New Source Review (part of the "clean air act") forces companies that want to upgrade ANY significant part an old facility, to IMMEDIATELY bring the entire facility up to the current code. So instead of replacing old, polluting equipment as they could afford to, they would have to re-vamp the whole facility - which they could NOT afford to do.

That is all well and good, but if the company wants to replace the equipment with cleaner equipment, they NOW cannot because they cannot afford to replace it ALL at one time. They COULD replace things a few at a time. But they cannot afford hundreds of millions of $ at one time. Therefore they cannot make ANY changes.

The costs of government regulations is a HUGE impediment to businesses and IS a major factor in the costs that drive businesses into bankruptcy. I don't recall saying that all of them fail because of government regulations though, you should learn how to read before you spout your ignorance.
At least inform yourself of the real issues that business faces instead of just what your masters feed you.

Imagine what it would cost a private individual to pay for the manpower, vehicles, fuel, weaponry, street closings, etc that go into this.
