  • Put your head on the elevator floor!!!!

    NOW SAY GOODNIGHT!!!!

  • oscars

    O: overrated

    S: shitty

    C: cheap

    A: assholes

    R: rating

    S: scenes

  • Fuck the oscars. Dark knight wasn't nominated, inception lost to kings speech, and now drive gets snubbed? Bullshit.

  • and a hero was born

  • Fuck the Academy awards for totally ignoring the best film of 2011.

  • @fasciatus Best of 2011? I'd say it's the best picture of the last ten years.

  • Me in the theater: Ah how nice, a little kissing scene, the guy gets the girl. That's cool....

*Driver stomps the guy's head in*

Me: WHAT THE FUCK! OH SHIT!!! WHA-?THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?

  • There is no more sublime moment of cinema as this scene in many a moon.

    FUCK THE OSCARS!

  • the movie was amazing from beginning to end but this was one of the best scenes in the entire film

  • this kind of reminds me of Robert De Niro's head stomp from "Goodfellas"

  • Ryan Gosling used Stomp. It's super effective.

  • Ryan Gosling used Stomp. It's super effective.

  • This scene is MINDBLOWING! :) Oh...wait. Pun.

  • i watched this movie twice yesterday, awesome!

  • Well the nose is broken alright...

  • I love this movie. You can watch it 3 or more times and have a different view for each. The lighting, personalities, music, tension all can be seen when you watch it and pay attention to it which makes this movie just brilliant.

  • sorry, you've got a fly in your face

  • I'm pretty sold this is a dream sequence. At least the kiss part.

  • Sr, You have a roach in your face, please allow me to kill it!!!

  • Music reminds me of one of the songs on the 28 days later soundtrack

  • @Livelifechil HEY it is this /watch?v=aKw5mbcE7VY

  • Driver kisses Irene in elevator... nek minute...

  • he's extremely quiet. he's extremely in love. he's extremely lethal. He falls in love with her after all they do is hold hands and finally kiss, I think he knows that if he has any emotions it will only go to the extreme so he doesn't know if he should be with her. I love this film, very quiet yet extremely violent.

  • This is SO much better than the Final Cut Version. The sound design of that version is TERRIBLE...almost laughable. The distorted music in this scene is amazing, though.

  • Oscar Snub! If they win their 1 nomination for sound editing , it will represent what this movie could have been if maybe it came out earlier and got a little more feedback

  • no dialogue, just some light work, music, and a flawless acting by gosling. by far one of the best scene of world cinema, at least this year

  • What a perfect angel >> devil transition. Flawlessly filmed and acted.

  • I love how you can just see the torture and the sorrow on Driver's face when Irene backs out of the elevator. He looks so torn and damaged, because he's let out his true animosity in front of one of the only people that kept his humanity in control. The way he turned around, and how horrified he looked to see Irene staring back at him in horror...it was so disturbingly beautiful.

    God, I love this film.

  • My reaction to this movie scene at the theater:

    "Finally something hot!"

Guy looks at other guy's pistol

"Oh shit something is going to happen..."

They start fighting, then CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH

"HOLY SHIT WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!! LOOK AT HIS... OH SHIT, FUCK!!!"

    That shit was crazy

  • and he had just spent a million dollars getting a nose job...

  • 2:35 FAP FAP FAP

  • I need to double-check elevators now before entering, in hopes Ryan Gosling is not in there with me.

  • This movie is a piece of shit

  • @GOLDENEYEAL Why? It's an art film.

  • @GOLDENEYEAL You're a piece of shit...BITCH!

  • @GOLDENEYEAL why are you such a dumbass

  • dude had a really bad day...

  • Still love the film

  • Gotta have some determination to do that :/

  • why is the music different here?

  • @dollarsaurus01 This is from the early screener version where Refn had put in placeholders, such as this and "Hand Covers Bruise" from the Social Network. Cliff Martinez was not brought in to do the score until close to the film's release. In this early screener, the opening credits have "music by Angelo Badalamenti", appropriately enough given the Lynchian atmosphere of Drive. But this is also a placeholder, as Martinez wasn't on board yet, which has caused confusion about who did the score.

  • while everyone is trying to intrepret this movie's message, i bet if we asked the person who made this movie what his message he would say "i dunno, i just thought it was cool and stuff" lulz

  • @8thstreetdropsoulja And you would be wrong.

  • Wow, what a raw scene. Love this movie so much!

  • CRUNCH..CRUNCH..CRUNCH..CRUNCH..CRUNCH!

  • love the music behind this . love the score in the movie . makes it more Raw .

  • @KTS2035 never thought of it, but the more I think about it, the more I think you are right.

  • i would love to be that girl he's kissing he is effing hot!!

  • i spoke to the doctor. that guys gonna be fine

  • 21 people need to hop on an elevator with Ryan Gosling

  • Best movie of the last ten years - easy.

  • Scorpion Wins!

    FATALITY

  • Comment removed

  • This scene truly reminds me of "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". Just listening to the sound effects brings me back to that game.

  • Possibly the greatest movie scene in the history of ever

  • Is this humanly possible? To stomp through a head?

  • WAS THAT IT!???

  • Why did you change the music of this scene to the music from 28 days later?

  • Hey girl, I love you so much I'll stomp man's head into bloody pulp. Happy Valentine's Day!

  • 2:37 - 2:44 reminds me of dead space 2

  • Rule #1 You NEVER turn your back on the bad guy!

In the real world or in any other gangster movie he would have got his head blown off when he turned to kiss her.

It was real nice of the hit man to wait until he was done kissing her.

  • @P90XCouple The hitman didn't know they were the ones he'd been sent to kill, otherwise he would have shot them as soon as he saw them.

  • @Havockeer What hitman wouldn't know their target? Every movie I have ever seen the hitman always knows everything about thier target especially what they look like. Otherwise he would be a lousy hitman.

  • @P90XCouple Idiot, the hitman didn't know they were the targets.

  • Fucked up

  • 2:42 probably my favourite image of the video.

  • I can't stop watching this scene.

  • Nice touch changing the track to Brian Eno's Ascent.

  • Great scene. My thought was he had to kiss her before because he knew she would not accept him afterward. His anger at not being able to be with her, I think, motivates him to the extreme violence here. By far the best movie I saw last year.

  • @KTS2035 That's a good analysis. What I understood from this scene though was that he cared so much about her and her son that he would bring ultimate destruction to anyone who would even think about bring harm their way. I saw it more as his anger being unleashed to protect the things he loves.

  • @theplaidmonkey I definitely think that's part of his motivation as well, agreed.

  • @KTS2035 In my opinion, he kissed her for two reasons:

    1. He knew that the other guy has a gun, so it's dangerous. It might be the last chance to do it.

    2. In this situation it was the only way for her to understand and accept his action.

What I like about The Driver is the contrast:

He's a good guy - calm and self-confident outside, but truly very sensitive inside. If you try to scratch this sensitive internal world, his response will be lethal.

This scene says everything about The Driver.

  • That score when he kisses her.... that's the same from Traffic. Love that score.

  • @jorgekluney it's called "an ending". it's by brian eno.

  • I'm surprised I didn't see any Justin Beiber comments about this scene

  • this video is too dark and the other upload of the full scene isn't wide screen. cest la vie.

  • That's what happens when you go to the wrong floor.

  • In the actual film the music is different no ?

  • @90mv The same. The baddest man on the planet...

  • @90mv Yes! I just watched the blu-ray and the song is different! I thought i was going crazy

  • Drive is the coolest, most stylish movie since Kick-ass...no wait since Scott Pilgrim vs The World... or maybe Zombieland, that was pretty cool too? But then there was Enter The Void? Mind you, The Social Network came then & that was awesome un-all? Oh fuck it...THERE HAVE BEEN LOTS OF COOL MOVIES THE LAST FEW YEARS!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO...;)

  • What the hell? I see this guy has a pistol under his jacket! I can feel the vibes, I think we both know who each other is. He is probably going to pull out a pistol and blow both of us away at any moment. Let me turn around and give this chick a big gay dragged out kiss, because stupid shit like this always works out in real life. Next time someone is trying to kill me in an elevator I am going to try this.

  • @TheMeatHead81 not the point of the film dude

  • @JackElrich Alright I will be serious now, I really disliked this film. Can you explain the point to me? Maybe I am taking it way to literally.

  • @TheMeatHead81 It's about revenge and criminal chivalry, what's not to get?

  • @TheMeatHead81 The point is that it's not a typical action movie, but instead it's a genre film called 'film noir' , combined with some extreme violence. But you have to wait past the first hour of the film where almost nothing violent happens. So it's typical that a lot of scenes almost have no dialogue, but instead music is used to set different moods & emotions. (download the movie soundtrack you'll see what I'm talking about). To me the problem is with the trailer you think it's a blockbuster

  • @TheMeatHead81

    1) The kiss is in slow-motion. That's why it's "dragged out". It probably only took 5 or 6 seconds in real time.

    2) It lowered the hitman's guard. He thought it would be an easy kill, but he was clearly wrong.

    3) How is a heterosexual kiss gay? Rhetorical question, so don't bother answering.

  • @TheMeatHead81 ,

Yeah it probably wouldn't work in real life but it's a movie dude, where everything can happen. Because in all fairness, if I follow your line of thinking, then every sci-fi movie is crap because it doesn't happen in real life... So I don't know, maybe you should just watch documentaries, then you'll be sure they're realistic.

  • @reptile1000 If he can't take that you should show him '3 guys 1 hammer', he'll be mentally fucked-up for life.LOL

  • That guy is gonna need some plastic surgery.

  • did he died?

  • @IronManOfficialguy No, he didn't die, he just walks around without a fucking face left. What do you think?

  • @ardbastard1 Lol, it was a joke dude.

  • @andyandcarl How do you know he was joking?

  • @ardbastard1 ht tp: // knowyourmeme. com/ memes/ did-he-died

    Remove the spaces.

  • @andyandcarl Well that does appear somewhat conclusive.LOL Ok, so what happens now that I was trolled: am I supposed to feel embarrassed, do I play the fucking stupid game back, do I get angry or what?:/

  • @ardbastard1 Simple. Don't respond lol.

  • @andyandcarl Damn!!!!!!!!! Well I fucking blew that now, didn't I? Right, well I'll be ready for the next cunt. The funny thing is I don't really give a shit:)LOL

  • @ardbastard1 Nah, I think he died.

  • @ardbastard1 i gather some kretin made a silly comment? lol ;)

  • @CuriousGeorgeMonkey9 I loved Albert Brooks too, he played so against-type & oozed menace...it was fantastic. I wouldn't feel it was an injustice if Nick Nolte won mind; it was such a melancholic, angsty, heartwrenching portrayal as the dried-up, regret-filled, oldman of two waring sons & the hotel room scene where he opened up to Tom Hardy was powerful stuff - I was almost moved to tears. The Academy could certainly do worse than give the statuette to Nolte, that's for sure.

  • This scene is nowhere near as graphic as the fire extinguisher scene from Irreversible as a lot of people have said it is. This is a fucking awesome movie though!

  • @ardbastard1 of course it wasn't that scene from irreversible was like so fucking violent i showed my friend and he passed out no joke

  • @reptile1000 What a pussy.;)

  • @ardbastard1 haha well you can't blame him it was pretty fucked he kept smashing his head untill it was nothing and we could see his face continue to smash unlike here

  • @Violenteers That is a good way of looking at it and I agree Driver is a dark character. You can clearly see it after he stomps the hell out of the man's face and finally looks at the girl. He just looks like a maniac. I believe he is also dark, even though he acts like a hero, because the conversation he has with her son about how a "shark looks like a bad guy" I believe applies to Driver.

  • watermelon anyone?

  • wow he is a real hero. and a real human bean.

  • This scene could only be better if instead of the woman, ryan gosling macked with a dude. In fact, this movie only makes sense with a gay driver. Read the book, peasants.

  • @Khuno2 This is based on the book. Only loosely might I add.

  • Best scene in a long, long time. Cinema needs more like this.

  • This part makes me wish I was the woman stuck on that elevator haha... I love Ryan Gosling, I don't care who's face he's stomping in!

  • I finaly found it !! What a kiss !!

  • Well the damage was Irreversible

  • When I saw this scene I thought that the kiss never happened. I thought the lights went low because he was thinking about it. He just pushed her out of the way and was about to go in for a kiss, which it looks like after he does kiss her and the lights go back to normal, but he doesnt end up really kissing her. Anyone else?

  • @nfrancella awesome analysis

  • @nfrancella Damn... i think you're right. : (

  • @nfrancella That is a good theory. The way I saw it, though, was that he perhaps did kiss her but the lighting was used for a different reason. My theory is that the lighting was a metaphor their characters--"the kind of person they are," if you will. Notice how through out that scene the woman's face does not darken while Driver and the other man's does. It could indicate that the director wanted to show that the woman was a person of light while Driver and the other man were not.

  • @nfrancella Maybe you're right, as you say it it makes sense.. but I'd be SO sad if it's true!

  • That guy must have had the shittiest headache ever the next day.

  • did he died?

  • @MadparkWorld

i think he pretty much stomped the other guy's head off.

  • He reminds me black mamba from how it is furious with tread it so angry

  • Wrong song. They use the song "Wrong Floor" by Cliff Martinez in this scene. But still this song is amazing. It was also in 28 days later.

  • The Best Kissing Scene I have ever seen..it is just so REAL<3

  • Google it, EVERYONE is mad that Drive was snubbed of Oscars. Gosling really deserved something, and if not for Drive at least for Ides of March. Brooks and Nick Nolte are the only two that deserve Supporting actor nominations and Brooks was snubbed. OH BUT WAIT, Drive was nominated for best sound editing....YES THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT MADE IT AMAZING. The rest of the award categories are just gravy. (Sarcasm)

  • @robhartjr1993 The Best Supporting Actor nominees should be Kenneth Branagh ("Marilyn"), Nick Nolte ("Warrior"), Christopher Plummer ("Beginners"), Albert Brooks ("Drive"), and Alan Rickman ("Harry Potter").

  • @CuriousGeorgeMonkey9 Jonah Hill was actually rather good in Moneyball mind, otherwise, I'd agree. I think Christopher Plummer will win it, his performance was good, but he'll win it more in honour of his long & distinguished career - much like when John Wayne won for True Grit.

  • The only reason Drive wasn't nominated for an Academy Award was because it's not some 2 and a half hour movie that consist of nothing but boring dialogue, isn't based on someones life or deal with racism/homophobia.

  • 2:55 "well i fucked that one up"

  • This is the best scene in a movie EVER, it has everything in a 3 minute period starts off with calmness, then tension, then love, then action, followed by horror, ending in drama.

  • This scene was so suspenseful and intense, it was almost difficult to watch.

  • Hutch brough me here

  • How DARE she slap Ryan..... ;-)

  • @Taymix05 The oscars are overrated, shouldnt be given so much power. In the words of pfife dog from a tribe called quest... I never let a statue tell me how nice i am.

  • Arthouse movies FTW

  • I am going to buy this movie day 1 of release.

  • @MrBobbyHuber It's already released...

  • Song is Brian Eno's "An Ending (Ascent)"

  • OMG I know this scene is extremely intense. I've seen the Drive twice at the movies and wow this video made me feel sick in the stomach :D I love Drive and I know this isn't the final cut of this shot cause the music and sound effects were different, but thanks for uploading :)

  • Awesome movie.

  • I love the play of light and shadow in the kissing scene. There's darkness falling on them, a taint to their relationship and a foreshadowing of something that isn't meant to be, but when they break apart they're both bathed in light showing the purity of their love.

  • probably the greatest onscreen kiss Ive seen

  • probably the most romantic scene in filmhistory!!! just perfect!

  • huh - yea I'm wondering what was going on with the music- although I love "An Ending (Ascent)" I don't remember it being used in the film

  • I loved this film :)

  • he could have used a fire extinguisher

  • @wintermute3d LOL!

  • @wintermute3d I thought of that scene too :D

  • Really wish they'd kept this song in the movie for this scene.

  • Comment removed

  • This scene is perfect! the music comes in while they kiss is just masterful. Although if the music woulda continued while he beats the guy, this scene wouldve been even better. picture it that music and gosling beating the guy in slow mo with that music.

  • Hahahaha. That guy has no face.

  • The perfect film.

  • @EZY3005 Aw! Thanks! :)

  • they could of just taken the stairs.

  • And the Oscar for Hottest Lighting In An Elevator goes to...

  • Have to agree that this is a rather beautiful scene. I don't expect much from movies made within the last 5-10 years, too much cgi and celebrity actors, not actors of talent. Really enjoyed the film, the silence, the rawness and soundtrack was spot on. Kind of reminds me of the road to perdition rain shootout scene. Sinister but beautiful. Film noir.

  • There's always MTV's best kiss award... Sadly this movie deserves so much more and it didn't get it. That's Hollywood for ya.

  • drive isn't nominated for any oscars acknowledging acting or directing, nor is it nominated for best picture. yet there are some dumb nominations such as extremely close and incredibly loud, bridesmaids, the help and dare i say it the artist (when you strip it down, it's essentially singing in the rain with some alterations and as a silent movie). worst oscar nominations ever this year

  • Saw Drive in the theater for the second time yesterday. Constantly listening to the soundtrack. This movie will not let go of me.

  • one of the best films I saw in 2011 and this scene is so well done

  • I like the way her being in the dark represents what's going on in the driver's head, like him telling her how he feels at the begining and of course the kiss.

When you think of what she really see ie him being sullen and then just attacking a guy it's no wonder she freaked out.

  • And the Best Kiss goes to.....Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan for Drive!!!

  • Utorak007 sent me
