"the first chord is always one minor, which makes alot of scence because if you playing a minor key and your first chord is not a minor your like 'what?'"
Your a real truly soulfulyl man. Glad to meet you. Your now add in my wish list. Understand telypathicly. the worls is made of vibrations so is our brain. So your in my wish list allway thingking well and good for you. No effort just using a higher waves lenght. Continue to be the man you are. bravo!!
Another awesome lesson. I hope you will be teaching harmony once you get done with level 3 and ofc when you feel ready. Btw what other parts of music theory is there to learn after rudiments level 3 except for harmony? I heard you mention history, counter point and analysis, is that all of the stuff or are there other big topics too? Is there any specific order that's good when learning those things, like maybe harmony first then counter point or something like that?
hey, Im 15 and i recently have just kinda been playing around with teaching myself music theory stuff... harder then you might think... lol... but in the last year or so i think i've learned alot... i found your videos like two hours ago and have been skimming through them since, and there pretty sweet. I like composing stuff (not very good yet but just starting :D) and all your videos really help. How often do you upload new theory videos? They have been a huge help and hope to see more:)
Thanks again for these lessons, I really like music and plan on taking advanced music theory classes after high school. Until then these lessons are really helpful.
Last week I was working on a piece of music and I came across this notation stuff. This is a great review. However, I was puzzled when I tried to write a chord that leaves certain notes out. It was a G major without the D. What should be the notation in this case? What about inversions for suspended chords?
@Lypur oh hahah sorry. wasnt trying to make fun of ya or anything haha. anywho thanks for the vids, who knew a 16 yr old could get so far adv music theory :D
hey Andrew how did the meet up go? , i hate my self for not living in canada but i really want to meet you some day you are my hero! also ludovico einaudi is my hero as well, he is my favorite composer , you should check him out!!
great to hear about the 7 chords in a near video, i do know them but i havent had much practice with them, especially when voicing them.
yey im the first comment!! this felt like a dejavu i had already learned about augmented and diminished triads and the roman analysis in a video, couldnt remember if it was one of your videos, i do find the classical way of analysis the best.
ive seen a couple different ones , like one where the chords are all numbered in uppercase and another one where they are named with normal 123 numbers, which i find very confusing, the classical way is the best its easier to read
Way to go! I found this to be better than any theory book that I've read, which gives me headaches once I flip a page. Thank you for making this!

in the harmonic c minor scale, wouldnt the ii chord be diminished?
Musicalme96 1 year ago
@Musicalme96
it would be diminished as far as I know.
ludek59 5 months ago
@Musicalme96 I definitely see how the ii-chord is diminished. I was so questioned and confused to find he calls the 2-chord a minor...hmmm.

That does make sence :P

There's a small mistake here: the supertonic chord of the harmonic minor is diminished and not minor!

Yeay! For the demonic chords! \m/

what's the ponit of all these fancy tonic super tonic crap?
The one chord, the two chord the three chord, in the key of G.... so much easier..
Needless complexity.

@Splurgendii Ask the people who made theory... I thought the same thing, but I'm trying to teach everything you'd normally get in a theory class..
Lypur 1 year ago 5
@Splurgendii they have to have fancy words so it sounds scientific and technical :P

hey Andrew
your videos are awesome , man
but are they enough to prepare me to compose melodies for Rock songs ? :)
I'd like to consult you about that and also how to build an instrumental for a song
you are a great inspiration
