NBC is free in America and doesn't require cable. It comes standard as long as your TV has an antenna and recieves signals.

That's what I have been doing for about 2 1/2 years. Only DVDs. Then they showed up at my door offering me better Internet. Of course they threw in a free month of two DVRs and all the channels. The thing with the DVR is, if you use it right, you never have a situation where there is nothing to watch. I came home yesterday to 21 recordings. It's a great feature--maybe too great.
