The more workers that develop a car, the less intimate the design. If a group of 10 highly motivated individuals built a car, I can guarantee that they would be extremely passionate about their work - and that passion would be reflected in the finished product.

A group of 100 will likely think that their specific role in the operation isn't really significant - so they wont be as bothered about the final product.
