check the antenna connection. down the bottom of the phone. it is around were the microphone hole is. IF you have knocked or broken the gold prong off you could be in a spot of trouble. Mine did break off, but a thin layer or water based super glue will be able to fix it.
Thanks for the great video, I was surprised how easy it was after watching you. However am wondering if you have any advice about fuzzy calls because my phone was clear for making/receiving calls, but after changing my keypad its fuzzy and i'm not sure if I touched something I sholdn't have. Any advice or is this someone that should be totally unrelated?
thanks for the tutorial, it was very helpful. Please post a video regarding how to change the keypad strip of e71. I want to change the keypad strip of my phone.
@magsanodotcom I bought it from ebay, i cant give you a link as the seller doesn't sell phones cases anymore. However I am sure if you just search you will find what you are looking for.
@losecontrol08 I have never owned or really played with a Nokia E63, however i think the process of changing the front or backplate wouldn't be to different. As for the middle bit, i believe you mean the backplate as there are really only 3 main parts to the outer casing of these similar phones, there is the front and backplate and the battery cover. To answer your question, yes you can. You will need to buy a new set off eBay or elsewhere. Quickly searched and found white.
I would like to change out the faceplate of my E71 but the screws seem stuck (all but 1). Maybe they glued it (as it appears by the one screw I actually got it)- or there isn't enough of a screw head on the screw and my T4 & T5 -I don't know.
Any sugguestion to getting it loose? My screen is scratched up from being out at the barn and I have the replacement kit to change it out.
You could try to hold the phone together really tight while trying to get the screw out so it can allow the thread of the screw to be able to move. Also try turning the screw the other way first before trying to get it out.
Please do not try an unscrew it if you feel you are going to let the screw get burred. If that happens it is REALLY hard to get it out.
This video allows you to try and do it yourself, however if you cant or dont have the confidence let Nokia do it.
i wanna ask something.. My e71 up,down, right and left button is hard to press.. U need more strenght in order to press it.. When the first time i bought it, it was not like this.. Does doing this method help it to be as normal??? Please reply to this , message.. Anyone.. Please.. :) thank you..
Thanks Man for video! Just disassemled my E71 and when assembled keyboard didn't take it plase! I just missed that i need to plase it right in front cover. Your video helped me!!!
@d01010. OK thanks for clearing that up. I just had a look at all of my front covers and the screen seems to be firmly attached to the front cover as if it was punched into the metal frame buy heavy machinery, this means getting it out is tricky or impossible, In my opinion it isn't worth your time to change it, just replace the whole front cover because it seems to be the easier option. But if you do decide to try and change it please let me know how you go. I am interested to see if you can.
@antistatic12 when I got my E71 the glass was smaller than the frame which didn't appear on many models I checked up in the shops later after I discovered it so i went back and said for such a expensive model the glass should fit snug inside the frame. The service shop didn't have glasses and told the whole front had to be changed, they showed me one peace of front cover spare part.. anyway the bill went on Nokia, thanks Nokia for great customer support!
As i have never owned or taken apart, a Nokia E63, I will advice you that there is a good chance that the way I take apart the Nokia E71 may be similar to the E63, Use my videos as a general guide, but if you feel confident doing it yourself, go for it. If I can do it, then you should have no problem.
The correct ones are as mentioned in the video, i do however state an extra one becuase i use it to push the front cover off and not for removing screws, i hope that clears it up for you.
You're fantastic, well explained. I had my replaced E71 arrive today. I see they didn't replace the cover properly. With your tutorial, I was able to take off, and replaced the cover perfectly.
hells yea man thanx, very detailed and thanx to it i did my perfectly. only thing was though when putting it back on.. i sliced the keyboard wires, and that obviously fucked it up abit, but i put it in place and wigled it around so it touches and now it works like a charm.
Not that hard just lever them out carefully, don't forget the power bit and the antenna thing at the bottom. I would do a vid but because i have opened and closed mine so often it has taken its toll on it, and i broke of the connector which go from the motherboard to the antenna, i managed to put them on but was a hassle cause without them ya cant get a signal. I will see what i can do though to try and help.
I would imagine so, but on mine there were no warranty stickers so if it looks like it hasn't been tampered with then their none the wiser. as long as you have the standard case on and not a red or gold one like i have. But i found fixing the E71 was pretty easy, IF you read the info on the right you will see.
Great video thanks

@MrCuriosBoy , You could take the phone apart and see if the directional pad is broken or worn out. You should be able to find a replacement online.
