Hmmmm... What game does this remind me of? It defininetly can't be S.S.B. Can it? Yes it can. I just have to say, old games are sometimes better than new ones. S.S.B. Melee is the best version of S.S.B. because there's more stages where you can fly on a ship... Just buy The Outfoxies and S.S.B. Melee.
This game was incredible,i didnt knew what to expect when i played it back then as well..the twins Are the creepiest chars in a videogame ever..included when they commit suicide by killing each other when they lose
I'm kind of a n00b when using MAME. I want to play games like this so bad but just don't know how to install the ROMs on MAME and I heard It's a very long process. so I just have two questions.
1) how do you install roms onto the MAME emulator?
2) Can someone give me simple instructions on how to do this without it becoming a frigging Einstein project?
This game was a major highlight of my childhood, i wish i could play this game again, well i guess i could buy the system and the game from somewhere like EBAY. They have every fuckin' thing.
This game looks great! For some reason I feel like this could have been an inspiration for the Smash Brothers series. Namco has to put it on one of their Namco Museum compilations! Shoot! Why do they keep giving us 100 re-issues of Ms. Pac-Man and not treasures like this game?!
Wow this game looks awesome! Haha at character selection I was saying "pick the monkey! pick the monkey! pick the monkey!" :P You have good taste, my friend XD
looks pretty cool. wouldn't mind this on ps3. idk if it'll happen because every game nowadays tries to be as epic as halo or killzone or what have you. not many down to earth ones
Namco seems to be one of the most sucsessful third party gaming companies I know. Pretty much every single game I know made by them, including this one, rocks!
So yea, nice review. It's also cool to see how the Smash brothers was notably influenced by the design of this game. The breakable environments, the in and out camera work. Interesting considering a number of the staff who worked at Namco to make this game later defected to Nintendo!
However I think I prefer this game to ssbm. Although less playable in control scheme, the environments are way cooler imo.
Wait... I was with you until you said the storyline was interesting. There is a storyline? No one is going to play this game for its storyline lol.
The gameboard that namco made to present this game to the public was being outdated by more current boards and thus the public probably wanted different fare and weren't willing to put quarters into this game. Plus the name wasn't exactly catchy.
Still, a vastly overlooked game with very innovative graphics for the time
holy crap! this is almost like a predecessor to "smash bros." one of the first to have the in-and-out camera movements, wide environments and multiple weapons.
Oh wow! An old 90's arcade game I'd never even heard of! This looks REALLY cool and right up my alley. Many thanks for bringing it to my attention!
As far as why it didn't catch on... well it was the early/mid 90's, the height of and last days of true arcade gaming. Titles were getting pumped out so rapidly and the market was so crowded at the time, that a LOT of really wonderful gems sorta got drowned out and lost in the mix (like Elevator Action 2, another overlooked favorite of mine).
I have to say the assassin aspect ofthe game is cool and the stages remind me of super smash bros indeed this game is a hidden classic worthy of recognition.
Black Lagoon more like it...

If they ported this to Xbox Live Arcade, I'd totally get it. Looks like alot of fun. I don't even remember this game back in 1994.

Ah, Hunter/Hunted-esque.

This game is the absolute shit... just watch out for the surprises in that last level. This is easily the original Power Stone/ Smash Bros.

If only Namco would make a sequel to this instead of one shitty Tales game after another.

@leoviper I'm complaining more from the fact that it looks like you can't throw the opponent.
Also, the distinct lack of TRASH CANS as weapons.

They had this game in the arcade a block away from our place when I was in college. We spent tons of money playing head to head every night.
Brilliant game.
