(which the M1A2 certainly isn't, or ever will be), but they would have still lost.

That's due to Inferior Training / Co-ordination & having already lost control of the skies.

If the USSR & US had ever clashed in conventional warfare the Yank's would have been obliterated, just like the cream of the German Army were at Stalingrad & Kursk.
