Can I ask a dumb question? I absolutely love these, I have been intrigued w/them since I saw them on Carol Duval years ago. But can you tell me why make altered books? I mean as opposed to using a scrapbook or sketchbook for this type of artsy stuff. They are not archival safe or anything, right? I have my grandpas lawbooks, that got ruined. but I can't bring myself to throw them out. This is a way for me to keep them but alter them.
Altered books are not archival, but they allow you to use techniques not possible in scrapbooks. You can cut the book to a shape, cut niches to hide trinkets in, use text on a page, etc. I would invite you to visit my altered book web site for techniques and pictures but YouTube does not allow me to post a url
Wonderful info, I am new to altering books. I have been wanting to alter a board book for awhile now but didn't know where to start. The video turned out great so no need to be anxious. ;)

Thank you Yes, I believe this project would be a good way to introduce altered art (or other art) to youngsters.

@marinapaul1
Good for you! Sometimes you can get board books at the Dollar Stores, if there are any in your community.
