I think that they got all the characters that they did include correct INCLUDING Saphira however the story line of the film was COMPLETELY wrong. It was so disappointing.

The movie gives a very bad idea of the story, when the books are lovely (My opinion). This movie left out some major scenes and characters out. Also, Eragon never got his back ravaged by Durza's sword.
@Garalthiax Exactly! They left our Orik, Elva, Angela, the Kull, Solembum, and more. They also left out EXTREMELY important scenes like Durza getting Eragon's back, the "blessing" of Elva, when Solembum talks to Eragon, when Eragon fights Murtagh, and more. They wouldn't be able to make an Eldest movie without Elva, and you also need Kull, the normal Urgals aren't sufficient.

I've never liked batty wings on dragons. They look so ugly & monstrous. Thats completely opposite on what saphira stands for. How is a thin membrane meant to hold a dragon? But, when you see shots of saphira from above, arya is riding her, her scethers cover most the wings, with membrane around the edges. Happy?
@DragonFightersFanfic You're right, also Solembum gives Eragon advise that when the time comes and he needs a weapon, he must look under the roots of the Menoa tree, also when all seems lost he must speak his name to open the Vault of Souls. Didn't see any of that although it seemed pretty important :)
The movie simultaneously raped and murdered the book in terms of screwing up the plot and things that SHOULD HAVE BEEN. Despite the ruining of the amazing book, Patrick Doyle's composition is truly awesome!

this was the worst movie ever made. The books were lovely, but the movie just sucked. And there I was hoping so mcuh that Garett Hedlund would be on screen much so that at least I had something to swoon about. But no, they put Ed Speleers in front, who has a cute face and cute accent but just couldn't act. Sorry everyone, but this movie was a fale.

For some reason, this music seems good for a Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker movie... It just reminds me of the pirate ship sailing across the ocean...
When I read the book and watched the movie, I couldn`t help but to wonder if the author was inspired by norwegian when creating the Elves` language. For example, "Skuldblakas venn". In norwegian, "venn" means friend. And then there`s "kvistr", which sounds like the norwegian "kvist" which means "branch". It`s the word Eragon uses to summon the branches when he`s attacked by a Razac.
@CaninesRock I think it's a combination, because some of the words and names are found in Celtic language and legend, even argetlamh (Celtic spelling) being silver hand.
I have to say that I liked the movie although it isn't half good as the book. I hope they make a sequel, but I don't know if they can. Soundtrack is awesome (: Thanks!

the premise of the story already is a little to similar to Perter Jackson. There was never really the quality to the story that The Lord of the Rings could deliver! Peter Jackson obviously would make a better adaption, but why would he waste his time on this story?
and i dont agree the dragons they describe in the books and on the covers look much more fierce and thats an important factor that i think the dragons should posses...and the dragon in the boom looks allmost like a bird and not scary at all...

Anyway, I think the movie was great (by the time I had NOT read the book). Seeing on it now, i am dissapointed in how many flaws it has. As it looks now making Eldest wont be possible. That is if they dont remake eragon later on. I'd hope that.

There won't be a second movie. The first was so utterly bad, no way they'll approve of a second one.
The books are decent, if not very original, and all the more impressive for being written by a teenager. But the movie played like a bad B-flick. Sure, it had a few good moments (Brom, mostly). But I would give it two out of five stars only.
Patrick Doyle provided a really good score, I have to say. Really hopeful and uplifting - almost to the point of being cheesy, but still great!

i have to agree, the film was great apart from how the cut the major plot info: i.e. when the characters are discussing plot insights/history in a less dramatic scene in the book. thought i do want to make it clear that other than that it was up the with lord of the rings.
p.s. i thought dragon wings were bat like, not feathered - at least that the tradtional idea. but hey, thats just me ;)
It's a shame. I loved everything about this movie, *except* how they butchered the storyline. The music, setting, actors, and Saphira's animation were beautifully done.
Wish they'd do Eldest/Brisingr/the fourth book. This is my favorite series. :[

For some reason, this music seems good for a Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker movie... It just reminds me of the pirate ship sailing across the ocean...

When I read the book and watched the movie, I couldn`t help but to wonder if the author was inspired by norwegian when creating the Elves` language. For example, "Skuldblakas venn". In norwegian, "venn" means friend. And then there`s "kvistr", which sounds like the norwegian "kvist" which means "branch". It`s the word Eragon uses to summon the branches when he`s attacked by a Razac.

the premise of the story already is a little to similar to Perter Jackson. There was never really the quality to the story that The Lord of the Rings could deliver! Peter Jackson obviously would make a better adaption, but why would he waste his time on this story?

Anyway, I think the movie was great (by the time I had NOT read the book). Seeing on it now, i am dissapointed in how many flaws it has. As it looks now making Eldest wont be possible. That is if they dont remake eragon later on. I'd hope that.

There won't be a second movie. The first was so utterly bad, no way they'll approve of a second one.
The books are decent, if not very original, and all the more impressive for being written by a teenager. But the movie played like a bad B-flick. Sure, it had a few good moments (Brom, mostly). But I would give it two out of five stars only.
Patrick Doyle provided a really good score, I have to say. Really hopeful and uplifting - almost to the point of being cheesy, but still great!

i have to agree, the film was great apart from how the cut the major plot info: i.e. when the characters are discussing plot insights/history in a less dramatic scene in the book. thought i do want to make it clear that other than that it was up the with lord of the rings.
p.s. i thought dragon wings were bat like, not feathered - at least that the tradtional idea. but hey, thats just me ;)

It's a shame. I loved everything about this movie, *except* how they butchered the storyline. The music, setting, actors, and Saphira's animation were beautifully done.
