Street Fighter IV - Vega's (Claw) Ultra Crossup

I tried leaving a video response but I don't think it worked. I just uploaded a video called SSF4 Memories under my account and it shows me pulling off the crossup a few times. If anyone wants to see what it looks like in a real match feel free to watch it_^)

Sagat, Dhalsim, Vega, Hakan, Adon, and Blanka doesn't work if you do it immediately after the neutral throw. As for everyone else it works but once again you have to crank it out real fast. There's no way to hit Vega during this setup which makes it real cool.

Just went and tried this out. Insanely hard and the timing is different on Sagat. Still, it's so dang cool compared to Splendid Claw >_< Any more crossup setups? I know if you sweep them and get up real close jump off their wall and ultra they can't stand block and after an izuna drop, sweep to get close, ultra your wall they can't duck it really.

how i set up my ultra is focus attack while holding the down the analog stick diagonal and right when i hit him with a focus i just quicky input the ulta command and you have a free ultra! =)

do you back dash after the focus? (always thought you had to)

you could if you want to but i always just do the ultra right after focus. or if you want another easy ultra when your fighting shoto characters, right before they do their hadouken quickly do the ultra and it goes right though them. or if you block it and do your ultra you can catch ryu because his hands are still away from his body.

If they're back dashing because they're aware of the cross up ultra setup, wouldn't that mean you can play mind games off of the regular dive and punish the back dash with the izuna drop?

no, because it's not that hard to distinguish vega's ultra from a normal walldive. the backdash itself is done after the cutscene and everything

basically, it's a really bad idea with vega to do his ultra out of the blue, or to even try to chip people with it at the end of the round. cuz if the other guy didn't hit any buttons and he can still move around, then you're fucked. the best thing to do with vega's ultra is to narrow its use down to just comboing it off a focus crumple

How do you do the ultra so fast? You say it's only useful comboing off an ultra....I've never got this to work. I'm actually an ok Vega player....my GP(36,000) is in the top 3 for Vega users on XBL, but I've found no use for his Ultra....

when you do a lv.2-3 focus, input the backdash command as soon as you let go of mp+mk. then, immediately start holding downback, and ultra soon after the backdash.

vega's ultra doesn't hurt all that much compared to everyone else's, but you'll want to learn this if you want to maximize your damage.

tip: it helps on your backdash to press back, downback, as opposed to back, back because you'll be able to start your charge a bit earlier than usual.

@blaqskillz for give me for askin a potentially noobish question..but i main vega too. and im wondering...cant oponent just block on wakeup against the ultra? or are the vulnerable for a few frames as the get up?

@ThIs1filLThYgUY You can, but the setup here displays a crossup. Most people will probably block wrong. But since this is so difficult, the risk is REALLY high.everyone is invulnerable on wakeup until the frames they actually "get up" or begin to stand. Your basically aiming to stuff their wakeup input, as well as cross up to screw up blocking properly.

So basically there's a shorter charge for Vega's Ultra after a Focus Attack? All you have to do is input the command for the Ultra or do you actually have to charge?

nope, the charge time is the same. it's just that you're able to charge as soon as you input the backdash command out of the focus crumple
