It looks like you're running either drag radials or slicks in this video correct? If so then even though it doesn't add power, I'd consider it a mod. That extra traction is a big boost with these MS3's. Bone stock, not quite...nice car regardless. I love mine!
I was running some wheels and tires off my buddies rsx. I think they were 225/50/16 on slip streams. But they were street tires. 2.0 60fts. Almost as good as the 1.96 I cut in my srt on stock tires. LOL

FWD = less parasitic loss than your RWD Z for one and two with a good driver SS and Speed 3's run 13.9-13.5 all fucking day. Yea, the Z is a good car, no denying that but it ain't everything your making it to be. And FYI, it's not the cheapest alternative if I took that route i'd be driving an LT Cobalt not an SS Turbo.
Dude i got videos, of my running low 13s, shyt we broke into 12.8-12.9s in my uncles 370z but yeah you're talking to a guy that has been racing for 7 years so i highly doubt every other driver could break into literal 13.1s but on average its low 13s 13.2-13.3. The 370z is a different story in the quarter mile it has the same torque as the HR 350z even less than the DE 350z so the HP increase of 10-15 WHP only plays significant roll after the 100+ MPH mark hence giving the 370z better trap speed
I'm not a skilled driver there are SO MANY DRIVERS better than me, the problem is a lot of these drivers just don't want to race anymore they grew out of it, just like i'm starting to grow out of it, where as you see noobs and kids that can't drive trying to usually show off their times so the TRUE SKILLS are hidden behind the wall while you see the fakeness i hope that makes sence. I've owned a srt-4, Evo 8, 300zx and now a HR 350z so all that car experience is what probably helps me in racing.
lot of drivers when they race from ROLL or from DIG they do noob techniques, like i'm not trying to sound like a dick but the stuff they do is total waste of wheel horsepower. For example from roll a lot of guys what they do is they just down shift to lower gears keep it in HIGH RPM and just floor it after 3 honks thats pretty much what 70 % of the racers do if not 80 % that shyt is TOTAL noob shyt not only are you not putting down MAXIMUM WHEEL HORSEPOWER to the ground but it requires no skill.

i'm not hatin on the SS or the MS3 i mean obviously i have seen them hit high 13s and I DO ACCEPT the fact that both cars with simple in expensive mods can pull times even better than the HR 350z no denying that but what i find is funny that a lot of kids challenge me to races talking so much smack about how the ms3 or the SS would pull me from ROLL they obviously dont say DIG because they know what I do with the 350z from DIG lol it's no secret, and when we race from roll i embarass them.

Why don't you go do some research. Marin on here ran a fucking 13.6 bone stock. Intake, headers, muffler delete and a tune several guys on the OCC have dyno sheets showing 330+ whp and over 360 trq. So yes son, you wanna believe they can do that. All certifiable facts. The 350Z is a great car but don't ignore the potential the Speed 3 and SS have. Read up on 'em a little and you may just surprise yourself.
The mazdaspeed3 is one little import i wouldn"t mind having. They actually look good, (nort ricey) and have a great amount of power for a front wheel drive car.

MS3s have trouble with traction just like every other high HP FWD car. A set of drag radials really help those ETs. Firebird Raceway, Boise, ID BTW. Been there many times.

actually streetunitcom is making in a gt35r like 422 whp i think at like 19lbs an there are a couple in like 460`s here my boy is making like 360`s with the stock turbo.

Ok dude (or something like that) does not sound very factual or convincing. If you open the stats Hub on Road and Track. It gives all the info you can digest on most cars out there, including your precious Mazdaspeed 3. The best they ran was a 5.9 and 14.3 1/4 mile! As nice,as fast as the car is you cannot put it in the same league as my car. (S2000) it runs a 5.4 and 13.9. and it is know for it's handling. In no way is his Speed 3 stock when you put slicks on it so it does not count.
HondaSIIK, do you want to explain to me why the best Road and Track could get out of a Z06 was an 11.7 when Z06 OWNERS have gotten stock ones to sub 11 second times?? not many have, but their out there, look up Ranger Z06. bone stock Z06 ran a 10.89. the ET isn't really a good indication of a cars performance, the trap speed is. ;)
Umm did you check to make sure it was a legit run?? If they ran stock tires for hookup and ran with RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE??? It make a huge difference on V8 with the amount of wheel-spin off the line.
Were the conditions better than Road and Tracks when raced? (tail wind or a cooler day) The mags try to keep consistent with all of the possible variables when they test their cars. I have found that out of all of the mags R&T has consistently better times at the track.
With the high torque and horsepower cars it can be difficult to keep it in a straight line and with cars like that if you race them repeatedly you can figure out what the cars tendancies are. With cars that better behaved, you can drive it like you stole it without having to waste time learning how to drive a poorly manufactured car like a Corvette!! A straight line car is all the Vette will ever be! Try a Nissan GTR or the NSX for overall capability. Oh and NSX orig was built in 1991 (GM Blows)
if GM blows and the Corvette is a straight line car, then tell me why the GTR was OWNED by the ZR1 on the Nurburgring?? i honestly wouldn't take a V35 GTR if you gave it to me, it's a friggen computer on wheels. you don't drive that car, it drives you. and BTW, look up Ranger's run on here, he was bone stock down to the tire (run flats don't like to hook up either)
don't speak. The GTR is only a V-6, and still keeps close to the ZR1, imagine if it had the same power as the ZR1, it would blow it away, including the Viper ACR, which beat both of them on the Ring.
you do realize that the GTR, even if it had the same hp as the ZR1 or ACR, would still be slower. it's called weight, and the last time i checked, the ZR1 and ACR were both at MINIMUM 700lbs lighter than the GTR. and btw, power isn't everything ;)
I do agree with power isn't everything but "if" the GTR had that power it would beat them, because right now it's approx. 120hp less then the ZR1, so match it up and boom!!! Because for having more weight and less power right now, it is VERY close, so add that extra power and it has it beat.
and what are you basing this off of?? quarter mile times?? stock ZR1's are running times of mid to low 11's stock, with traps in excess of 130mph. the FASTEST GTR i've seen trapped at 118mph, a 12mph difference in the 1/4 is quite a difference. the ZR1 with a great driver should be able to hit 10's EASY. you'd have to mod the GTR to get that speed.

LS1s break 12s with only tire and LT1s run into the 13s with only tire. Why mislead? just say the car has DRs/Slicks...
I used to think it was DR too when he first posted the video, but now that I have seen that a stock MS3 with drag radials can get around 13.5's, I think it was just spare tires on those cheapo rims that you put hubcaps on. Probably because the OEM tires on the speed3 are pretty freaking expensive Bridgstones.

Let me break it down for you: LS1=power plant for Camaro/Trans Am from 1998-2002 (also powered the Corvette from 1997-2004). LT1=power plant for Camaro/TransAm 1993-1997 and Corvette 1992-1996. So no your MS would not be cheaper than a Camaro or Trans Am. LS1s are mid-low 13 second stock and LT1s are low 14s stock and the 6 speeds in all the above are rated 26+ mpg haha LOSER!
LS1 Camaro/TransAms cost about 14-16K depending on condition (this is for 2001-2002 models, older ones cost less).
LT1 Camaro/TransAms cost 4-7K depending on the year and condition.
So what would actually happen is the LS1/LT1 would spend the difference on their buy in cost versus the cost of the 2008 MS3 and run 12s or better without difficulty. Try researching before you make STUPID comments.

Not to be a dick? Whatever, firstly LT1s were '93-'97 (already posted) hence the pricing of 4-7K 2 YEARS AGO when I posted the comment. Secondly, LS1s were '98-'02 in Camaro Trans Ams and 2004 in the Pontiac GTO. I bought my '99 Camaro SS for 7k in June in great shape (in my videos).

The V8s above make 320+ torque which is why 0-60 and 1/4 vary. I have not seen a single stock MS3 run any faster than that. You're full of it. Where are your videos?

Let me clarify. FWD IS easier for the average driver on lower horsepower cars, typically under 300hp. Above that range your response is correct because the torque steer is overpowering.

@rventrig I agree. I'm putting down 300 to the wheels in a FWD grand prix. When the wheels break lose around a bend, there is nowhere to go but straight until you catch traction again. oversteer is not an option without the e-brake. And we wont even mention torque steer. I get some torque steer at 80mph when I step on it!
While you make a good point, just want to mention if you can afford some good aftermarket mounts, torque steer can be tamed. For instance, CP-e makes some great side (2), rear and transmission mounts that when all put on all but eliminates the monstrous torque on a MazdaSpeed 3. Also by leaving the stock front sway bar on and buying a good aftermarket rear sway bar and stiffening it up, you can move the car from understeer to slight oversteer.
@shpankey This is true, but with some good power under the hood, there is no over-steer unless you are very low throttle or completely off the pedal in a fwd car. This being said, it will always be easier for a rwd car to pull thru and out of a corner. I have solid polyurethane motor mounts, sway bar bushigs, control arm bushings, solid tubular trailing arms with poly bushings a front strut tower brace & she still torque steers. Not nearly as bad, but it still does.

@thetravdawg Fwd is easier for the average driver to control in normal everyday driving situations, but not in high speed corners or launching at the track. RWD has an advantage because when launching, the car's weight shifts backwards over the rear axle, causing the rear tires to gain a ton more grip (literally in some cases)
I am aware of that. My contention is that fwd cars under 300hp (your typical Civic and even MS3) are easier to handle for the average driver at a course than rwd cars with more torque. That's my only assertion.

Actually, an intake will give you heaps for the MS3.. I have an Injen on mine.. it dyno'd at 274whp and 276lb.ft torque.. and the baseline STOCK was 255whp/torque.. so, 19hp, 21lb.ft.. yea, these cars are that much fun..
but I love all sorts of cars.. just the MS3 was a great bargain and I needed the room..
I've gone 13.6@106 in my '08 MS3 with just a CAI. Drag tires and wheels, motor mount, and a couple of other old fart tricks and I'm hoping to get this thing pretty close to the 12s

Yea the stock airbox is really restrictive on the MS3. Nice goat btw- 15 horse is really good, you went with what the Lingenfelter? If you run 11's the MS3 would definitely need some more mods to keep up. Oh as a note to everyone- I have an MS3 and i love ot to death but i don't think i can run 11's with $500 invested.

It looks like you're running either drag radials or slicks in this video correct? If so then even though it doesn't add power, I'd consider it a mod. That extra traction is a big boost with these MS3's. Bone stock, not quite...nice car regardless. I love mine!

I was running some wheels and tires off my buddies rsx. I think they were 225/50/16 on slip streams. But they were street tires. 2.0 60fts. Almost as good as the 1.96 I cut in my srt on stock tires. LOL

Souds lie Jealousy. It must hurt that cars like this and cars like my SS Turbo run times mid 13's stock. Even high 13's are quick. Give both of these cars a few basic bolt-ons and a good tune and your in the low 13 to high 12 range. Can you say that for your beloved Civic Si? Didn't think so. Face it, as of right now Mazda and Chevy own the sub $30,000 (Candian) sport compact market. Stop hating.

And the SS and Speed 3 are amazing for wat they are. Half the cost of your Z and you only get less than a second quicker stock for stock. Tuned with bolt-ons that still keep the car at least $10,000 less than yours pul it into your stock range. The Z is decent for what it is but sorry, for that price it should be pumping better numbers. And no you wouldn't rape that ass. You may beat it slightly but the most a 350Z has ever got on me on the 1/4 is a little above a car length.

okay bro we are talking about a HR 350z not a DE 350z, the hr 350z has 306 HP and i ran a 13.2@ 107 MPH stock, the DE 350z runs high 13s and the cobalt ss and ms3 all run 14s flat STOCK, of course with mods and money anyone can make their car do whatever the hell they want. See we don't live in a communist country people actually have money here, if we were to find the cheapest way to get the fastest car which ure talkin abt we would all be driving CIVICS with TURBOS but nah i'll pass on that

FWD = less parasitic loss than your RWD Z for one and two with a good driver SS and Speed 3's run 13.9-13.5 all fucking day. Yea, the Z is a good car, no denying that but it ain't everything your making it to be. And FYI, it's not the cheapest alternative if I took that route i'd be driving an LT Cobalt not an SS Turbo.

Dude i got videos, of my running low 13s, shyt we broke into 12.8-12.9s in my uncles 370z but yeah you're talking to a guy that has been racing for 7 years so i highly doubt every other driver could break into literal 13.1s but on average its low 13s 13.2-13.3. The 370z is a different story in the quarter mile it has the same torque as the HR 350z even less than the DE 350z so the HP increase of 10-15 WHP only plays significant roll after the 100+ MPH mark hence giving the 370z better trap speed

I'm not a skilled driver there are SO MANY DRIVERS better than me, the problem is a lot of these drivers just don't want to race anymore they grew out of it, just like i'm starting to grow out of it, where as you see noobs and kids that can't drive trying to usually show off their times so the TRUE SKILLS are hidden behind the wall while you see the fakeness i hope that makes sence. I've owned a srt-4, Evo 8, 300zx and now a HR 350z so all that car experience is what probably helps me in racing.

lot of drivers when they race from ROLL or from DIG they do noob techniques, like i'm not trying to sound like a dick but the stuff they do is total waste of wheel horsepower. For example from roll a lot of guys what they do is they just down shift to lower gears keep it in HIGH RPM and just floor it after 3 honks thats pretty much what 70 % of the racers do if not 80 % that shyt is TOTAL noob shyt not only are you not putting down MAXIMUM WHEEL HORSEPOWER to the ground but it requires no skill.

i'm not hatin on the SS or the MS3 i mean obviously i have seen them hit high 13s and I DO ACCEPT the fact that both cars with simple in expensive mods can pull times even better than the HR 350z no denying that but what i find is funny that a lot of kids challenge me to races talking so much smack about how the ms3 or the SS would pull me from ROLL they obviously dont say DIG because they know what I do with the 350z from DIG lol it's no secret, and when we race from roll i embarass them.

Im in Mississauga Ontario but our club goes to different areas ofthe east coast for events so if i'm down there definitely. As soon as I get the scan i'll put up my time slip and proof of car number as well. 13.8 but by the time I get down there next i'll have the bolt-ons and tune so it should be a good run. And good job on the run because it's the lowest ive seen a stock z. Respect!

Why don't you go do some research. Marin on here ran a fucking 13.6 bone stock. Intake, headers, muffler delete and a tune several guys on the OCC have dyno sheets showing 330+ whp and over 360 trq. So yes son, you wanna believe they can do that. All certifiable facts. The 350Z is a great car but don't ignore the potential the Speed 3 and SS have. Read up on 'em a little and you may just surprise yourself.

Ok dude (or something like that) does not sound very factual or convincing. If you open the stats Hub on Road and Track. It gives all the info you can digest on most cars out there, including your precious Mazdaspeed 3. The best they ran was a 5.9 and 14.3 1/4 mile! As nice,as fast as the car is you cannot put it in the same league as my car. (S2000) it runs a 5.4 and 13.9. and it is know for it's handling. In no way is his Speed 3 stock when you put slicks on it so it does not count.

HondaSIIK, do you want to explain to me why the best Road and Track could get out of a Z06 was an 11.7 when Z06 OWNERS have gotten stock ones to sub 11 second times?? not many have, but their out there, look up Ranger Z06. bone stock Z06 ran a 10.89. the ET isn't really a good indication of a cars performance, the trap speed is. ;)

Umm did you check to make sure it was a legit run?? If they ran stock tires for hookup and ran with RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE??? It make a huge difference on V8 with the amount of wheel-spin off the line.
Were the conditions better than Road and Tracks when raced? (tail wind or a cooler day) The mags try to keep consistent with all of the possible variables when they test their cars. I have found that out of all of the mags R&T has consistently better times at the track.

With the high torque and horsepower cars it can be difficult to keep it in a straight line and with cars like that if you race them repeatedly you can figure out what the cars tendancies are. With cars that better behaved, you can drive it like you stole it without having to waste time learning how to drive a poorly manufactured car like a Corvette!! A straight line car is all the Vette will ever be! Try a Nissan GTR or the NSX for overall capability. Oh and NSX orig was built in 1991 (GM Blows)

and what are you basing this off of?? quarter mile times?? stock ZR1's are running times of mid to low 11's stock, with traps in excess of 130mph. the FASTEST GTR i've seen trapped at 118mph, a 12mph difference in the 1/4 is quite a difference. the ZR1 with a great driver should be able to hit 10's EASY. you'd have to mod the GTR to get that speed.

My buddy has a s2000 ap2. 20K intake full exhaust, i walked him im my ms3 with only a CAI & exhaust. Now dont get me wrong an S2000 is the shit, but lets be real when we talk. U got a great car with mad potential, but dont think that youre somehow special because your $40,000 car can beat a $22,000 car if you throw $5000 at it.

I used to think it was DR too when he first posted the video, but now that I have seen that a stock MS3 with drag radials can get around 13.5's, I think it was just spare tires on those cheapo rims that you put hubcaps on. Do you even know what an LS1 or LT1 is? Apparently not since you are incorrectly assuming the MS3 is cheaper.
Let me break it down for you: LS1=power plant for Camaro/Trans Am from 1998-2002 (also powered the Corvette from 1997-2004). LT1=power plant for Camaro/TransAm 1993-1997 and Corvette 1992-1996. So no your MS would not be cheaper than a Camaro or Trans Am. LS1s are mid-low 13 second stock and LT1s are low 14s stock and the 6 speeds in all the above are rated 26+ mpg haha LOSER!

LS1 Camaro/TransAms cost about 14-16K depending on condition (this is for 2001-2002 models, older ones cost less).
LT1 Camaro/TransAms cost 4-7K depending on the year and condition.
So what would actually happen is the LS1/LT1 would spend the difference on their buy in cost versus the cost of the 2008 MS3 and run 12s or better without difficulty. Try researching before you make STUPID comments.

Not to be a dick? Whatever, firstly LT1s were '93-'97 (already posted) hence the pricing of 4-7K 2 YEARS AGO when I posted the comment. Secondly, LS1s were '98-'02 in Camaro Trans Ams and 2004 in the Pontiac GTO. I bought my '99 Camaro SS for 7k in June in great shape (in my videos).
1993 Eclipse GSX = 6.8 0-60s and 15.2 1/4 mile
1994 Camaro Z28 (LT1) = 5.7s 0-60 and 14.2 1/4 mile
1998 Camaro Z28 (LS1) = 5.2s 0-60 and 13.7 1/4 mile

'98-'02 LS1 = 0-60 4.9-5.3s and 1/4 mile 13.2-13.7 (including T/A, Z28, SS, WS6 & Firehawk)
'07-'08 MS3 = 0-60 5.3s and 1/4 mile 14.0-13.7
The V8s above make 320+ torque which is why 0-60 and 1/4 vary. I have not seen a single stock MS3 run any faster than that. You're full of it. Where are your videos?

Let me clarify. FWD IS easier for the average driver on lower horsepower cars, typically under 300hp. Above that range your response is correct because the torque steer is overpowering.
You still did not answer my previous question:
"How is a 13.7 1/4 mile car (and that's the best stock MS3 time I've seen on youtube) going to, in your words, "eat" a car that runs a 13.7-13.2 1/4 mile."???

@rventrig I agree. I'm putting down 300 to the wheels in a FWD grand prix. When the wheels break lose around a bend, there is nowhere to go but straight until you catch traction again. oversteer is not an option without the e-brake. And we wont even mention torque steer. I get some torque steer at 80mph when I step on it!

While you make a good point, just want to mention if you can afford some good aftermarket mounts, torque steer can be tamed. For instance, CP-e makes some great side (2), rear and transmission mounts that when all put on all but eliminates the monstrous torque on a MazdaSpeed 3. Also by leaving the stock front sway bar on and buying a good aftermarket rear sway bar and stiffening it up, you can move the car from understeer to slight oversteer.

@shpankey This is true, but with some good power under the hood, there is no over-steer unless you are very low throttle or completely off the pedal in a fwd car. This being said, it will always be easier for a rwd car to pull thru and out of a corner. I have solid polyurethane motor mounts, sway bar bushigs, control arm bushings, solid tubular trailing arms with poly bushings a front strut tower brace & she still torque steers. Not nearly as bad, but it still does.

@Maxmaj1q Yeah I agree with you. I was just throwing that out there mostly for others who may want to tame theirs as CP-e only recently came out with the 2 new side mounts. :D Just b/c it is such an issue (as to your point).

@thetravdawg Fwd is easier for the average driver to control in normal everyday driving situations, but not in high speed corners or launching at the track. RWD has an advantage because when launching, the car's weight shifts backwards over the rear axle, causing the rear tires to gain a ton more grip (literally in some cases)

I am aware of that. My contention is that fwd cars under 300hp (your typical Civic and even MS3) are easier to handle for the average driver at a course than rwd cars with more torque. That's my only assertion.

Actually, an intake will give you heaps for the MS3.. I have an Injen on mine.. it dyno'd at 274whp and 276lb.ft torque.. and the baseline STOCK was 255whp/torque.. so, 19hp, 21lb.ft.. yea, these cars are that much fun..
but I love all sorts of cars.. just the MS3 was a great bargain and I needed the room..

I've gone 13.6@106 in my '08 MS3 with just a CAI. Drag tires and wheels, motor mount, and a couple of other old fart tricks and I'm hoping to get this thing pretty close to the 12s

500 bucks can buy you an intake (~20 peak horse)
and a test-pipe (maybe ~10) i think it would be mid-low 13's. High 12's is pushing it considering the stock tires. I'm assuming your GTO isn't stock btw, I used to have one.

Yea the stock airbox is really restrictive on the MS3. Nice goat btw- 15 horse is really good, you went with what the Lingenfelter? If you run 11's the MS3 would definitely need some more mods to keep up. Oh as a note to everyone- I have an MS3 and i love ot to death but i don't think i can run 11's with $500 invested.
