Personally I think you were too harsh on the device, (regarding the shakiness),.. You should bear in mind that of course you didn't have it on a tripod,. and the focusing was fine, (in my humble opinion). If the device had an in-built image-stabilisation feature and it was shaking like it was in your video review, then sure,. a 2/5 would be fair,.. BUT,. it doesn't have image stabilisation and you were walking about with it, so,.. with that in mind,. for the camera, I'd score it a 3.8/5.
@hope2882 I can get this one for 66 euros, i am buying it tommorow, i rather have this one for 66 euros than the Kodak playsport zx5 for 150 Euros!!, they even say this one if better

I bought this DV1 yesterday ( before watching this video ) and I don't think, that it is that bad. I mean, considering, that this camcorder has just a tiny lens with a fixed focal length, what can you expect ? It can not match the quality of a 5DMarkII or GH1 of course. Regarding the shakiness, HD video is always hard to shoot without a tripod ( even with the high end cams ) and the image stabilizisation works quite good for that.
Also pretty less noise at low light and it works fine on my MAC.
@BerndtOtto I totally agree - I also have a DV1 and i am very happy with it. I have never used the kodak so I am unable to make a comparison but, that said, if the kodak is better than the DV1 it must be PDG! Absolutely gorgeous lady but a very harsh review in my humble opinion.
Can you do a water test before you return it? or did you already returned?
Like just drop it in water and see if the audio goes bad or stays good. Cause I'm debating between a Kodak playsport or GE DV1. The playsport can trap air bubbles in the audio when dropped in water and ruins audio recording if not removed. Just wondering if the GE DV1 did the same.
@RANKEDjovi I already returned it! Sorry! :-( If I had to choose between the two devices, I'd go for the Playsport, you can get it locally at your Best Buy and the image quality is a TON better. It's also rated very high on Consumer Reports. I believe that this is GE's first attempt at a camcorder like this. The camera itself is built well, however the image quality and EIS is not as great as you would expect.
@sylgar45 the Zi8 was actually on my list of cameras to try out. I found it on Amazon two days after the GE was ordered. I most definitely am going to return this GE and try out the Kodak! My husband actually ordered this cam for me while I wasn't around and just took the initiative. The reviews on it (Zi8) look awesome and the price really makes me happy. Merci beaucoup for watching!

Clearly not as good as a Kodak Zi8 ;) which is even better than all the Flips...erf not the best choice you just made :( !
The microphone also sounds really crappy erk :(
